"You talk a lot of smack, but are you all bark and no bite?" Shiina taunts, eyes gleaming. She loved a fight, and she particularly wanted to watch Lila bleed out in the snow.

Karan took a threatening step forward, but Sam frightened him back.

"Try me." Lila said, snarling, but refusing to engage Shiina yet. "And besides, why should I waste my energy on you? You're probably not even worth the time it would take to take you down. I have more important things to worry about."

Scott said nothing, but braced himself. This was going to turn ugly, and fast.

Shiina lashed her tail and snarled.
"You really are all bark," she snaps and she launches herself at Lila with powerful, muscular back legs. She doesn't even hesitate to dig in her needle-point claws as she pins Lila down into the cold snow.

Sam takes Shiina's cue and leaps into battle, taking the closest opponent. Scott.

Lila gathered her hind legs beneath Shiina and threw her off, taking a few scraps of fur with her. As she got to her feet, blood slowly dripped from her scratches out onto the snow. As the cold wind blew against her, she let out a yowl and leaped at Shiina.

Scott, however, was having a tougher time with his foe. He wasn't used to fighting in this weather, and he didn't have the burning rage that Lila currently possessed. His moves were sloppy and uncoordinated, and the wind was throwing him off balance.

Shiina ducked so Lila leapt over her. She then whipped around to face her opponent.

"Ha! I picked the right opponent!" Sam laughed. "You can't fight in these conditions!" she howls. She rakes her claws across Scott's flanks with lightning speed.

Karan ran to help Scott, but was surprised by a slim, small, black wolf. The black wolf immediately went for Karan's throat, and he just barely moved aside in time.

As Shiina turned around, Lila scraped Shiina's nose with her claws, and then went to sink her teeth into the back of her neck.

Scott growled and staggered back, but came back and bit into Sam's ear, not letting go. He figured if his normal attacks weren't working, he had to change it up a little.

Shiina felt the claws connect with her nose and she snarled, lashing out at Lila's muzzle with her claws.

Sam whipped around in a circle till she saw Scott's tail. She pinned it to the ground with her paw, forcing him to let go.

The black wolf was kicked off of Karan easily. The small wolf looked Karan up and down and backed away.
"Karan! I-i I'm sorry!" he cried and he took off. He returned with a tall grey wolf with bangs swept over his deep amber eyes.

Long canines hung over the grey wolf's bottom jaw and he was covered in many deep battle scars.
"Shiina! Sam! We do not attack intruders without taking them to me first!" the wolf barked, low and ferocious.

Shiina and Sam backed off silently, seething.

The gray wolf turned to Lila.
"Who are you?"

Lila stood up a bit straighter, sensing that this was the one who might listen to reason. "I'm Lila, this is Scott, and I get the feeling you already know Karan." She said. "We came here for our friend Alyx."

Scott limped over to stand by Lila and added, "We'd prefer not to cause you any more trouble."

Karan snarled and stepped forward.
"Lila, Scott. This is deputy, not leader. He's dangerous, stay back." he said solemnly, his face serious.

"At least we're not being brutally attacked anymore." Scott pointed out.

Karan looked at Scott.
"That could escalate quickly." he growls and he turns to the grey wolf. "Where's my brother? You're not leader." he barks threateningly.

The grey wolf laughs.
"You never hear the words when they're on the wind, do you? He's fallen seriously ill. Been ill for the past few weeks."

"That's nonsense! Badru has never gotten ill and never for so long!" Karan snapped.

"Do you know if he'll be alright?" Lila asked, her eyes filled with concern. "Maybe we could help you. If we manage to save your leader, you let Alyx go. It's a win-win for everyone."

The gray wolf howled with laughter.
"That's not how it works, sweetheart. You see, Alyx's family has caused us more trouble than its worth. We're executing her. That's just how it's gonna work."

"You...you did something to Badru, didn't you?!" Karan barks suddenly.

The gray wolf only smiles.

Lila growled and launched herself at the gray wolf, pinning him to the ground. She got in his face and snarled, "You leave my friends alone!"

Scott took the advantage and leaped over Lila, running into the cave to find Alyx.

"Stupid wolf." Shiina snarls as Scott takes off. She turns to the black wolf. "Karkat. You're faster than that wolf. Stop him." she snarls.

Karkat's ears lower but the black wolf nods, taking off. He takes a small shortcut in the winding, interlocking mix of tunnels and appears in front of Scott. Karkat is smaller than Scott, but he had an agility bonus as well as he knew such windy tunnels.

They gray wolf overpowers Lila with sheer strength and pins her to the ground, his claws digging into her throat.

Scott found it easier to run now that he was out of the blizzard, with its blinding snow and buffeting winds. His scratches still hurt, though, and he knew there was probably someone after him. When Karkat suddenly appeared in front of him, he made a split second decision and kept running, crashing into the smaller wolf with brute force, his head lowered.

Lila realized she was outnumbered, outmatched, and trapped. She could not follow Scott, even though she could easily outrun them. "Karan!" She managed to get out. "Help Scott!"

Karkat was surprised and he tumbled with Scott, but quickly gained the upper hand. He dug in his claws and pinned Scott down.

Karan nodded at Lila and took off.

"Oi, bloaters! You forgot the power of wind!" Kargolo suddenly appeared through the blizzard, covered in white, except for his huge talons. The black blades scraped through the air, lashing at any wolf that would argue.
"I wondered if I'd ever get my winter feathers, and I have! They're soooooo warm!" He lashed out at the grey wolf, aiming for his neck.

The grey wolf ducked.

Shiina tackled Kargolo.
"Insolent bird!" She snarled.

"Er, hello?! I've got wings!" Kargolo flew away from her attack, and dropped like an anchor on top of her.

Scott threw Karkat into a wall with his hind legs, scrambled to his feet, and took off again. "ALYX!" He yelled. If all of the fighting hadn't woken the entire cave up, he certainly had now. That was a risk he would have to take. He knew the smaller wolf would not be down for long, so he had to keep going. "Alyx, where are you!?!?" He howled, his voice echoing through the tunnels.

"Kargolo!" Lila exclaimed happily. "There you are! Ready to kick some wolf butt?"

Karkat scrambled to his paws and howled loudly. His howl awoke the pack. Wolves heard Scott's bark and over twenty wolves had him surrounded in seconds.

"This mutt hurt my brother?! Pathetic!" Snapped a wolf a moderate size bigger than Karkat.

"Don't worry Equius. We'll skin it alive." Says another wolf.

Equius snarls.
"I'll be the one to tear his throat out."

"I'm going to help Shiina and Sam." Growls a third wolf and he takes off towards the entrance.

Shiina rolls from Kargolo's attack.
"Stupid. Be more cautious!" She barks and she takes Kargolo down.

Kargolo screeched and cackled, losing some feathers to Shiina. He picked her off with two legs, and bit her tail. He held her closer, and flew up into the air, ready to drop her if needed.
"Stupid. Be more cautious. I'm a bird. I can fly. Stupid doggy...."

"I'm a wolf! Stupid insolent bird!" Shiina snarled, using what momentum she had to swing and bite hard into Kargolo's foot.

"Where's Karan or Lila when I need them?" Scott thought. "Where's Alyx!?!?" He yelled. "Tell me where you've got her!"

Equius snarled.
"Why should we tell you?! You hurt my brother!" He barks ferociously.

Kargolo whimpered, and he lashed out for a final time. He pulled away his injured foot, and limped off into the tunnels. "I'll reach Alyx...I will!"

Sam tackles Kargolo and drags him back.
"By now, the tunnels are filled with our pack. Equius would be happy to tear your throat out." She grins.

"Not if I tear out his first." Kargolo opened his beak and snapped at Sam's neck, furious.

"You won't get close." Sam barks as the beak skims her throat.

"Oh, I can do whatever I like, whenever I like. What I'd like now is to help my friend over there, Lila. And if you don't...well, let's just say that you won't be able to bear the birdsong." Kargolo chuckled. "So, what's it gonna be, dogsbreath?"

"Karkat! Now!" Sam barks.

Karkat shoots from the darkness of the cave. He had gotten away from Scott and was ready to help Sam. He dug in his sharp little claws until blood flowed.

"Oooh, send in the puppy dog. No problem." Kargolo sliced at Karkat, only wincing a bit at the pain.

Karkat easily ducked the swipe and bit into Kargolo's wing.

"Your packmates took Alyx, and sent your brother after me." Scott growled. "That's the only reason we retaliated. And Karan thinks something happened to your leader."

Equius lashed his tail.
"I guess it's weird that Badru is out..."

Kargolo bit Karkat on the tail, and he dug deeper, tearing more than just fur.

Karkat cried in pain.

Equius lifted his head.
"Karkat!" He howled. He turned to a scarlet furred wolf. "Aradia! Take care of this intruder." He barks before taking off.

Aradia stands ground in front of Scott.

Equius slams hard into Kargolo, taking down the bird with surprising strength for a small muscular wolf. He was already covered in battle scars, and his ear was torn. He showed no pain from any of the wounds. He dug thick claws into Kargolo's body, digging in easily past the skin.

Kargolo yowled, and picked off his attacker with thorn-sharp claws. Letting out a triumphant squawk, he leaped into the sky and dropped from a height into his previous attacker.
"You made me bleed!"

Equius leapt out of the way of Kargolo and grinned with slightly bloodstained razor sharp fangs, lashing his thick navy blue furred tail back and forth aggressively.
"Good. That's payback for hurting my brother."

Kargolo slashed at Equius, a hideous scratch across the dog's muzzle. Kargolo purred to himself, and leaped forwards to finish off the wolves.

"I don't want to cause you any more harm than I already have," Scott said. "But if you fight me, I'm not just going to stand there and let it happen. My friends and I came for Alyx, and if you give her to us now, we'll be on our way."

Aradia nods slowly, taking in Scott's words.
"Alright, we'll try to help you. There are a bunch of guards, so you're gonna need Equius. He won't help you, though, unless you go apologize for hurting his brother Karkat. I think Equius went to beat up a bird..." She says, turning towards the entrance.

Equius shrugs off the slice and dodges Kargolo's attack, raking his claws across Kargolo's skin and biting into his wing again.

Kargolo squealed, but he knew he could kill this wolf easily. He was just playing with it.
As Kargolo leaped, he jumped over the wolves and headed to the cave entrance, heading inside.

Equius grabs Kargolo's tail.
"No way." He snarls.

OOC: I don't think so. At any rate, you'd have to ask Jennacat4, and I haven't seen her for quite some time.

Scott made his way back to the entrance. When he made it back, he yelled, "Equius!"

Equius whipped around, spitting feathers from his jaws. He lashed his long tail, his eyes gleaming with fire, his scars making him intimidating for a smaller wolf.
"What." He snarled, Karkat cowering behind him.

"I'm sorry I hurt your brother. I was just defending myself." Scott began. "I don't want to cause you any more trouble, but right now I need your help. Now if you'd kindly stop attacking my friends, I need to get to Alyx. Your pack mates are willing to help me. But are you?"

Lila lay in the snow, wondering mostly how on Earth Scott had managed to come out unscathed, let alone on how he'd managed to make a deal with this mountain pack. "Geez, Scott," she said. "Why can't I manage to get out of anything without a permanent injury?"

Karan smiled at Lila's comment.

Equius sighed.
"Whatever. If Aradia is willing to help, then I guess I will."
