I liked waves, it kept me in the game longer than any other game because the game was so short, the waves of incoming characters made it longer.

Actually, I read an interview that said there were no waves this time, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't by that guy.

There was an interview from Gamescom that said that there would definitely be waves again. I haven't been able to find it yet, but I know it's either somewhere in the old Giants news thread or in the Gamescom one.

I think there have to be waves, I doubt retail would have the spare the shelf space or warehouse space for all the characters at once.

Exactly. How could you possibly fit all the giants, all the lightcore, all the regular onto shelves. Most of the Targets and Best Buys near me have very few racks of Skylanders. That would just be crazy.

Waves always give you something to look foward to.

They'd have to be dumb to NOT do waves. In doing the waves, they continue to generate hype and keep interest in the game, even if it is short or lacking in some places. That's why most everyone played Adventure up until Wham Shell was released. After that, I (and I'd be willing to bet most other people) put the game down after.

And certainly no offense to milton310, but you know how it is; Pics or it didn't happen. It's incredibly easy for someone to say "Oh my friend, who works with skylanders Giants said this yadda yadda yadda". You have to provide proof of something that we haven't physically seen yet. Remember the classic "my dad works at Nintendo"?

The reason I don't believe it's official is due the Adventure Pack classification. We know already that they'll work in Giants don't we?

They are incorrect, the Adventure packs WILL work with Giants, as they will unlock new levels..

I think we're just about done here for new infos. I don't think anyone scanned in the article in NP for Crusher (I mean, a physical pic of the blurb. I know we already know what it says) but I'd be more than happy to once my issue gets here if anyone really cares.

This is kind of interesting. Toy distributor "The In Thing" is anticipating Giants to dwarf Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Moshi Monster and Angry Birds come holiday season. Also interesting to note is "the firm had sold two to three times the amount of toys than it initially anticipated." (for SSA) so I guess that sort of explains away why they dropped the ball with some of those later releases.

Another article I came across has a few quotes from Alex Ness about what he wanted to do for Giants and what he's thinking will happen down the road.

"The biggest challenge to creating a sequel was finding the delicate balance between keeping the fundamentals that worked so well in the first game, but also making sure the sequel is completely new and interesting - not just like a rehash,"

"A part of me likes to imagine kids years down the road hearing stories from their parents about how there used to be toys that didn’t “do” anything, and the kids would be totally flabbergasted by this concept. It probably won’t happen quite like that - I’m sure we’ll always have toys that don’t take on any other digital forms, but who knows, there may be a lot less of them in the future,"

He also notes that there's no current plans for a sequel after Giants but notes that Skylanders wasn't designed to be a one or 2 game series; it was meant to be a franchise.

Well, 'no current plans' means nothing. They probably didn't plan for Giants until after the release of SSA. Even if there isn't going to be a third Skylanders game next year, we'll probably get the 2 mobile games that were leaked instead.

I dont think my wallet can take another emptying if there's gonna be a sequel to Giants a year after.

I think if they are going to do a sequel, give it 2/3 years and in that time as well as developing Skylanders 3, release mini ad packs(or something along those lines) which allow the player to go through the stories of Flynn, Cali, Arbo etc.

YDS? Spyro, of course it will sell more, because of the toys. Had it been a regular franchise a sequel probably wouldn't come at all, but they sold 20 million toys in the first quarter of this year alone. Saying in fact that Angry Birds, Pokemon or Moshi Monsters would sell more as this game works now is stupid.

Pokemon sounds surprising at first, until you realize the toyline was abandoned, so they only have their games and TCG now.*
Unless they're counting software/non-toy sales, maybe Angry Birds would come out on top since they make everything with Angry Birds slapped on it.

we dont need a sequel, we need a new skylander game that have online multiplayer/co-op and they dont have to make new figurines this time again. they could use all the figurines they already released. it will be fresh and new all over and BOBBY KOTICK know that.
