Nyrodyn shot Flame a cold glare. Composing his features into a thoughtful one and looking ahead of himself again, he started conversationally, “You really shouldn’t say things like that where prying ears can hear you. You’d get in some serious trouble, seeking out that kind of company. And being a Dark Elf in these parts, the guards would probably be looking for any excuses to do away with me, a trusted Nord's assumptions would probably be all it would take to incarcerate me for life, regardless of my innocence."

“Hmm,” Nyrodyn hummed thoughtfully. “What use would there be in denying your claim? I have the sense that you are going to believe what you will, regardless of any protests I might make.” Running a hand idly through his scruffy black hair, he then folded his hands behind his back as he walked alongside the Nord. “You do not seem unsettled by your own accusation,” he told him. “Anyone else would be very frightened or.. very loud, to get the guards’ attention, to notify them of an “assassin”. Yet you do not.”

"Saved your life?" Lillian questioned, her curiosity piqued, as she looked after where the young man had gone. Blinking, she pulled herself from wondering, she turned back to the man before her, and blinked again. She recognized him. He was a Companion. "Oh, Silver. Sorry, I guess I was a bit pre-occupied. I didn't notice it was you." She shrugged, not wanting to admit why she was pre-occupied. "Yeah, I'm fine... he's just a little..." She frowned as she remembered their conversation. "Pushy," she finished. Then her eyes lit up as she realized something. "Wait! You just said you know him. He's not a Companion, is he? I haven't been here in awhile, I guess it wouldn't be impossible for a new member to have joined." She frowned again. "Still, he doesn't seem the type." She was judging him quickly, she knew that, but something about him just didn't sit well with her. He knew things he shouldn't. "So how does he seem to know so much about them?" She asked quietly, more to herself than to Silver, though she knew he heard her. Her mind, however, was to distracted to care.

OOC: If Lillian and Silver don't know each other, just let me know, and I'll edit that part of the post. smilie

Nyrodyn quietly searched his mind for any recollection of a man who went by that name. Frowning slightly when he could not match a face or description with the given name, he said, “I do not know the name. I may, however, know him by another alias, or a face. I am assuming he is a Dunmer? You were studying me the first time we met, and your comment suggested that you were looking for someone when you were doing so.”

“Hmm,” he said thoughtfully, studying the Nord’s face carefully. “Why is this man of significance? Do you seek him out because of his profession? Or is it a.. personal matter?” Nyrodyn steepled his fingers under his chin, something he did out of habit when he was thinking. “If I am to help you locate this man, I need to know whatever you know, no matter how insignificant it may seem,” he explained. Looking about himself for a moment, the Dunmer then suggested evenly, “But first, perhaps we should find a place more.. comfortable? Somewhere where prying ears cannot reach us?”

Lillian let out a long breath. "You really should be more careful." She looked to him and grew concerned, seeing his shame. She walked about, slowly, trying to think of a way to console him while still getting answers. "Do you trust him?" She asked, looking to him. "Can he be trusted with the information he has? Or will he turn on us?" Her anger was returning, and she quickly pushed it back under control, sighing. "I'm assuming the others don't know?" If they didn't, then it was something they shared. Hiding secrets from their fellow Companions. Flame's words echoed through her head again, asking her why she wasn't confiding in them, and she tried unsuccessfully to push them away.

Nyrodyn silently raised an eyebrow at using some stranger’s house as a meeting place, but did not object. He himself did not have a problem with it, though he was somewhat surprised that Flame had a similar nonchalance about it. Ignoring his observations for the moment, he quietly slipped inside the house, waiting for the other man to follow suit.

“Which city are we talking about? What province?” Helgen was the first that came to mind, only that city had been destroyed by a dragon, not a warlock. Nyrodyn did not eliminate that possibility, however. He still did not know if Flame was being entirely truthful with him, and why should he? They were complete strangers, but Nyrodyn knew that if the Nord truly wanted to find this ‘Detah’ that he would learn to be truthful with him soon enough, if he wasn’t already.

"Yeah," Lillian replied, "I've heard of it... Well, I guess I should be going. Have a good day, Silver." And with that she left, heading toward her house. She needed to think. Her mind was buzzing. If Silver said she could trust Flame, she would, though his words still haunted her, as did her discussion with Farkas. In all the commotion, she'd forgotten her desire to see if everyone was safe, but it didn't matter anymore. She needed to calm her churning mind. And the best remedy for that was smithing. She hurried inside her house, grabbed some ore she'd left there several days earlier, and then hurried toward Warmaidens. Adrianne would be there, but she wouldn't mind the company. She'd trained Lillian in the art of blacksmithing soon after Lillian had first arrived in Whiterun. When the two did share the area, working together, they usually said little to one another, each lost to their work. This was what Lillian looked forward to, as she needed to unwrap her tortured mind.

“Ah,” was all Nyrodyn said. He was too lost in thought to say much of anything else. Looking around the small living space, the Dunmer sat comfortably in a chair by the fire pit as if they were in a public place, gesturing for the Nord to do the same. This was going to take a while, so they might as well get comfortable. Settling his hands neatly in his lap, he fixed Flame with a calculating look, before saying, “You said that this man destroyed the village in a matter of minutes. I’m to assume he used destruction magic, yes? Or something.. else?”

“Ah,” Nyrodyn repeated, though there was more of an appreciation in his remark than simple acknowledgment. He himself had never delved into necromancy, or any form of conjuration, for that matter, but that did not mean that he couldn’t appreciate the art of bringing back the dead. Steepling his fingers under his chin, he sat for a long while in silence, thinking. They were dealing with a powerful warlock indeed, if this man could bring down a village with the means of walking dead.

The Dunmer may never have learned to command the dead as a necromancer would, but he was all too familiar with magic, and necromancy was just another branch of magic. The person they were dealing with had to be a master in what he did. Nyrodyn knew that it was difficult to coax the dead back to life, and even more difficult to keep them that way. It took someone with years of experience and skill to permanently bring forth an undead being from the dead. Most conjurations of necromancers “lived” for but a few minutes, before the magic that bound them and animated them faded away, and they collapsed, dead and useless again. Yet this.. Detah had commanded what he assumed had to be an army of undead long enough to raze an entire village.

A powerful warlock, indeed.

Before allowing himself to slip deeper into his train of thought, he asked, even though he’d already assumed the answer, “I suppose he lead an army of undead unto this village?”

“I understand,” Nyrodyn told him. He didn’t say anything else, however. Instead, he was merely studying the Nord’s face. It was a face that would not do him well to forget, and it was simply in his nature to take note of every possible detail. Ceasing his studying for the moment, he spoke up again, in a very business-like manner, “Do you have any more details about the man you’re searching for? All I know at the moment is that he is an exceptionally accomplished necromancer. I cannot chase after a faceless man with any hope of success without more details.”

OOC: Understandably so. smilie You're doing a great job, Sky the Dragon! So glad someone finally made a Skyrim RP. smilie

Time had gotten away from Lillian. She'd been at the grindstone for hours, sharpening weapons she'd found here and there. She'd often pick up small, light weapons, just to have something to practice her smithing skills on. As the grindstone sharpened the weapons, her mind continued it's relentless battle. She'd finally decided to just leave it alone. She was a Companion, and would remain one, but she didn't need to join the Circle. There was no reason. She loved her life in Whiterun and there wasn't any reason to change it so drastically. There also wasn't any reason to avoid the Companions, so long as they didn't bring up the offer again. Still, long after she'd come to that conclusion, she stayed at the grindstone, allowing her mind to wander. Now, night had fallen, and still she worked. Adrianne was long gone, and though it might seem odd that she'd leave Lillian working well into the night, lost to her thoughts, Lillian knew Adrianna knew her well enough to leave her to it. She often worked at night, preferring to have the workspace to herself, and though to most that might seem foolish, to Lillian it was a thrill. She was always most alert and active at night, and she had no trouble seeing, as she could see in the dark whenever she chose to. So she sat at the millstone as night descended upon her, and she was only drawn from her musings when her ears picked up footsteps not too far off. It was odd for any except the guards to be out so late, but these footfalls didn't sound like the footfalls of guards. Curious, she looked up. Three men were there, and what she saw as she looked upon them stunned her, filling her heart with terror.

Nyrodyn turned around in his seat at the sound of the dog barking. Frowning slightly in thought, the elf stood and walked toward the back of the house, where the animal was barking and snarling. Hands wisping in soft trails of light, his very aura now radiating a calming effect, the dog began to settle down, its lips still pulled back in a snarl, however. Kneeling down and running his hands through the dog’s fur, the intensity of his spells heightening through touch, the animal was soon very quiet and very docile, lying down on the floor in contentment.

Idly running his fingertips through the dog’s fur, Nyrodyn contemplated the animal’s behavior. They had certainly not triggered the animal’s aggressive state, for if they had done so, it would have been the moment they walked through the door. No.. no, something else was the cause of the animal’s distress. Noting that dogs often sensed danger before humans did, the Dunmer turned his head toward Flame and told him, “Something’s wrong,” gesturing towards the door.

OOC: I edited my character sheet. I forgot to add Lillian's weapon of choice. An ebony bow and orcish arrows. Oops! smilie

Lillian got to her feet quickly, turning toward the men as she threw the dagger still in her hand at one of them. Weighing her options, she drew both of her swords, opting to forget her shield for this fight. She chided herself for not acting quicker and helping the guard, as she stood waiting for the men to reach her. As the first one stepped near enough, she swung both of her blades at him, aiming one for his neck, and the other for his chest.
