@Bahamut: Keep up your blunt approach. It is appreciated. It is getting extremely tiresome having to wade through threads to find the information to only come up with nothing. This needs to change and I support your approach.

@Ghost: As always your posts are appreciated as well. Completely different approach, but effective none the less.

As for the mod debate, there are two different kinds of mods on all forums. Ones that sit quiet, and ones that are vocal. Not trying to point fingers here, but we have both kinds here. Neither one is a bad thing. Just because one posts and is seen does not make them effective. Also because you don't see tons of posts from the others doesn't mean they are not there. And vice versa. The point is we see what they have done, and can only assume this is how it will continue. Good, Bad, and Other.

As a community, coming together as much at the core as possible is what will stop this. Sure there will always be those that have "Breaking News" from a source that we know is not acceptable as proof. But there is no way to moderate false news unless actually proven wrong. And yes, that I know I said "we know it is wrong" and "can't prove wrong" in the same paragraph.

The point is some one always guesses right, and then uses that for future credibility. While 30 users guess, are wrong, and it gets forgotten. Too many people are trying to be the first to be the one who knew the release of something. Granted there are exceptions: Certain sources proven on MULTIPLE occasions, Users that have inside information, etc. Only the users can keep this hearsay from continuing.

If you like to read 30 threads just to find out that you know absolutely nothing more than you did when you started, then I respect your opinion. But myself like to come to find a factual thread and move on.

In other words, I'm too naive to have a useful opinion? It's not that hard to figure out. I've seen plenty of people frustrated by this. I see the sticky for 'latest we know' in an attempt to curb the inaccurate information. I've seen plenty of other fan forums that similar problems trying to separate the useful from the not so useful.

I also have seen that this site is going to have to get all the information first, and there is reliable information if you look. I see that there aren't any trolls, and people behave like there are adults and kids here. This site isn't struggling for members like other Skylander sites. So I don't mind the false leads, I take the good with the bad. Not saying I want all the bad info, just that I can live with it.

All that said however, other sites control the information by getting the reliable and very knowledgeable members to blog on the site. The same idea would work here. If Dark could select 6 or so members to post accurate info on the front page (or a sticky thread only they have access to) then it would eliminate the need for everyone to hunt for good information. And people could go on throwing out there rumors and feel like their contributing. I just don't think you're going to get everyone to follow these unofficial rules with a lot of success.

Honestly, the whole back and forth is almost annoying as the info itself. But the truth is that both have their place. The dates have been quiet for a while now and people are 'seething' for some new figures, especially ahead of the holidays. With that said, people are grasping at all information they find...often it is a rumor, and some rumors are great to know about...TRU getting Wave 2 early started off as a rumor if I remember correctly. As well, figures have already "leaked" - so while those 'fictional' dates maybe fictional, nothing is to say there isn't something tied to those dates.

Dec 15 could be "receive shipment date" - so some stores might accidentally put them out not knowing any better.
Dec 15 could be "TRU early release date" - similar to Wave 2, without the large delay afterwards.
Dec 15 could be tied to an inventory clearance sale in preparation for Wave 3 - heck my TRU just did a HUGE downsize of Skylanders stuff.

And while I'm not saying they were or weren't right, I'm not going to get so bent out of shape that I feel that multiple post from multiple users is necessary to handle the spike in rumors. It's what comes along with riding the crest of "purchasing on release" - it's part of the territory. If you buy a video game console on Day 1 - you have a higher risk of it 'failing prematurely'. I see this as no different, if you are chasing the release date - an announced one at that - then you just have to sift through rumors.

IMO it should be - hey this was a rumor and it's been proven correct *obviously since today is the 17th heh* - and that's that. YES its annoying with so many people pointing to that singular date, but it just is what it is.
