Hasbro tries to direct the toy commercials towards the demographic audience: little girls. Of course you wouldn't get it by just watching the commercials. Most bronies hate those commercials. I don't mind them too much.

The appeal of the show with me is how surprisingly grown up it can be. In fact, last episode's lesson was that you can see somebody as a hero, but you shouldn't forget your own worth. Also, don't be a demanding asshole to writers/artists/ect., just because they don't have something out "fast enough". Which are both very valuable lessons to learn. Another great lesson was that you shouldn't give up on your friends. The moral of Party Of One was "Always expect the best from your friends and never assume the worst. Rest assured that a good friend always has your best interests at heart."

Not only does the show have good morals, but the writing is great (at times). They spent the entirety of season 1 building up to an event called the "Gala", and then when the finale came, the Gala went ironically wrong and it was hilarious. Castle Mane-ia, IMO, was one of the funniest episodes of the show. And in the season 4 premiere, the Princesses (besides Twilight who already had great characterization) were made to be less "boring". Usually they just visited Ponyville every now and then in time to hear the moral. But in the premiere, we got to see so much more out of 2/3 of the other Princesses. It was really great....in fact, here's my favorite part if you're interested.

In addition, the animation is great. Especially in that part I just linked. It gets better and better every season, in fact. All the seasons before season 4 had minimal shading, but now I've seen it in every episode so far. And knowing how hard it is to animate, especially in Flash, I'd say that's pretty damn impressive.

I also know how people wouldn't like it though.....it isn't everybody's cup of tea.

I could go on and on if I didn't have to go to school.
