Transgender Rights [CLOSED]

The way I see it, you were born the way you were born for a reason. I agree that everyone should have equal rights, but I don't agree with people changing their gender. I've seen commercials for like those drag race competitions or hear about pregnant men on the news... It's very strange to me.

here's the thing though, trans ppl don't just wake up one morning and decide "hey i want to be another gender!!!", they have this thing called gender identity disorder in which they feel discomfort as their assigned gender to the point where it can be psychologically damaging. it doesn't matter whether u think they were born that way for a "reason" they're still going to have gid either way.
yes, there are ppl who DO pretend to be the other gender just for fun like drag queens, but really saying that it's "strange" for them to step outside of their gender roles and defy masculinity/feminity is a little sexist to me.

same thing goes to torok, it doesn't matter whether we're god's perfect creation or not, because it's probably hs fault for giving people gender identity disorder then, lol.

To man! God knows all.

His divine plan was NEVER to turn penises into vaginas or to have men wear dresses. He knew people would do that, but that's not His plan for us as His creation.

God wanted us to have free will so we can choose to love Him not so men can choose to be women or women to be men.

If you ask "Why free will?" read the previous sentence.

You're contradicting yourself, buddy. You're saying things like accidents which lead to disfigurement or paralysis aren't "in God's design." But then you say that God knows all. Therefore, following that logic, the people who suffer accidents and end up with severe physical impairments as a result were predestined to have it happen to them and God knew that it would happen when he made the person in question. Free will also contradicts the "all-knowing God." If he truly knows all, then he knows exactly which people will use their free will to love Him and which will not. So, by that logic, all missionary work is useless, since God already knows who will accept Him and who will reject Him. You can't have it both ways. >.>

Yeah... I feel bad for them too. If only there was a cure (and by cure I don't mean switching genders) for it. It might help them feel less uncomfortable. But sexist or not, whether they have gid or not, I still stand by what I said. *shrugs*
Just like with gay people. I believe they should have rights like everyone else. People are people, after all. However, I don't support them either.

This could've been spoken about without dragging religion into this. Now it's going to be a religion thread. I'm not sure who is more at fault for where the thread is headed; Avatari for taking silly news seriously and speaking first, Torok for claiming not to want to touch this topic and then doing so anyway, or this:

Quote: Underian
No religion or anything else should get in this way.

For saying it ahead of time and inevitably inviting it.

That being said:

Quote: torok

God says: I love you just the way I made you.
The thought/your imperfect feelings says: I'm supposed to be different than how you made me. You made a mistake.

God loves people unconditionally though, right? So if that is the case, wouldn't he be ok with someone deciding that they are more comfortable in the other gender?

Quote: torok
God wanted us to have free will so we can choose to love Him not so men can choose to be women or women to be men.

God did not give anybody free will. God was the one who strictly told Adam and Eve not to eat the apple in the Garden of Eden, and punished them and everyone who followed them to mortality when they disobeyed.
Meanwhile, it was Satan who convinced Eve to eat the apple (and Adam as well), and he is apparently behind the evil in the world (both actual evil and not-so-evil), where the individual committing the deed is doing it by their own free will.

With that in mind, Satan is the actual creator of free will, not God. God punished those who have free will and choose to use it in any other way besides unconditional love towards him. That is not free will. That is a false image of free will, used to mask what is otherwise pretty much slavery towards him.

Where in the Bible does it even say that trans people are horrible and unnatural?

True, but they were the ones who decided to drag religion into this. I suppose I'm pointing fingers, but it appears to be the case.
The others probably should have just ignored them, but we both know that that is a very rare sight to see.

Technically speaking, the only person to really mention religion was Underian. Avatari never spoke of religion, and Torok only mentioned God later on.

As CAV said, I never mentioned religion. I was only doing what was asked, "I want to know how many people here are for Trans* rights here and are totally okay with it." I was just speaking my own opinions. No need to bash them just because you don't agree with them. No matter what you say, my opinions won't change, just like I know your opinions won't change. So get over it. I respect everyone's opinions, but since when is it illegal to disagree with someone?

I was referring to everyone.
Look, I don't see why people always want to argue. Why can't we just agree to disagree and leave it alone? Nobody's opinions are going to change, and arguing about it won't make anything better. Just respect people's opinions and shut up. So what if you don't agree? So what if you do? No matter what you say, nobody is going to change to fit your principles and standards of life. I believe in God, yes. But I didn't bother bringing any kind of religion into this because I knew nobody would listen and they would just use the typical arguments that I've heard a million times. It's time to be the bigger person and just move on. Get over it. Agree to disagree and then shut up. The point of this topic was to express your thoughts on trans rights. No need to argue or bash or anything. There's no need to agree either. State your opinion and leave. It's as simple as that. And though I am a christian, I don't think it was needed to bring God into it, because there will always be someone who wants to speak otherwise on the issue which will just cause an argument, as we all have seen. Just let it go, people. Move on.
And again, I was referring to everyone.

The same could be applied in the other direction.

I was considering speaking also about how people could be shooting when Waka said not to, and forcing a belief in the same way that they accuse Torok and FW of doing, but really I haven't seen that much. People have remained mostly respectful throughout the topic.

Major credit for respecting the opinions of others and refusing to mention religion until someone else chose to do so, but the purpose of the thread is not only to state an opinion, but likely also to discuss differing opinions.

By posting an opinion, you leave it open to interpretation and response, both positive and negative. That doesn't mean you shouldn't post. It means though, that you should expect something like this to happen, and should expect to be asked to defend your opinion, even if it means admitting that your opinion comes from religion.

True, but still. The arguing is unneeded. It seems impossible for people to talk about serious issues without arguing over nothing, really. Well maybe not nothing, since something like religion is always a big thing to argue about, but you know what I mean, I hope. Like I said, agree to disagree. "I don't/do agree with you" and why (without being rude) would suffice. Let's be civil, yes? c:

God is NOT ok with His creation being twisted!

Ex of twisting creation: "I want to be a man cause I've always felt like one but I was born a woman."

Non-ex: "My arm was blown off by a bomb I want a prosthetic."

Ex: "Let's splice this tomato with elephant genes and see what happens."

Non-ex: "Lets put poison on this plant so the bugs don't eat it."

See the difference? I hope you do, I hope everyone does cause I'm sick of answering dumb questions.

Here, I'll say it in simpler terms: Born with penis where it's supposed to be= DON'T "FIX" IT.
Paralyzed from the waist down= Get a wheelchair/assistance/helper monkey/dog and keep God in your life.

I hope that clears everything up.

Disclaimer: those who take religion seriously might not want to read the spoiler. Skip it if it will offend you. (assume it will, Benedict)
The thing about religion is that people are always saying all this crap about rules and guidelines and certainty. This disguises the fact that there's NO proof, just some possibly unreliable accounts. All of the religions argue and never consider the fact that they ALL might be right or wrong. Besides, the Earth is an INSIGNIFICANT LITTLE SPHERE OF WATER, ROCK, AND VARIOUS OTHER SUBSTACES. WHY SHOULD A DIVINE BEING CARE ABOUT US????? Taking the self-importance of the human race out of the equation, it's because we're a pet project of God's. Which, in turn, means he's either strict or autocratic, what with all these laws.
So, to sum up: doubt, we're possibly products of a divine experiment with evolution, dictatorship, pie.

So basically, I'm willing to believe if I get proof. (preferrably in the form of a divine message and not murder.)

But you're still contradicting yourself. If He's all-knowing, He knows each and every thing that will happen. Which means He knows the people who will "twist His image" and yet He creates them anyway.

Also, a bit late for this, but I'm gonna cry "SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE" here. I'm interpreting this topic as Waka asking about the rights of transgenders from a purely legal standpoint. Which means you're morally welcome to disagree with the idea, but to deny them human rights from a legal standpoint doesn't make a lot of sense, if you ask me. <.<;

I love how torok doesn't reply to arguments she can't prove untrue and simply ignores them. All the while cherry-picking some isolated sentences here and there and directing her whole answer towards those.

Okay, let's be honest. I don't love it. It's ******* maddening, and it makes her look like she doesn't even believe in what she says herself.

No. But as I said before, SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. Waka asked about Transgender rights from a LEGAL standpoint. As in the basic human rights that all humans should legally be entitled to. If you're saying that Transgender people don't deserve basic human rights, then you are calling them less than human.

Am I hating you all because I say that you are on a path to Hell if you do not stop offending God and yourself with your sins?

"Hate," I'm not sure about. But technically, that could be considered harassment. Especially if people have previously asked you to stop, which they have, and you haven't.

Am I a bigot because I say no homosexual shall enter heaven? It's right there in Jesus' words. Look it up with my sigs help.

Look at what kicking God out of society has done. America is giving guns to terrorists, 5 year olds are being taught how to jack off, girl scouts are now in league with planned parenthood, things are dying left and right. The world is being cursed because of countries who kicked the Christian God out of their government.

To be fair I'm Italy masterrace, religion is a huge thing (plus we have the pope) and we're still worse than you guys on those things.

Well, you could live in an area ruled by a warlord. Just throw a dart at a map of Western Africa. Chances are you hit an area involved in constant warfare. <.<;

Oh, just cause you guys have the Pope doesn't make you guys a utopia. Religion is Not what Jesus wanted. Catholic church have changed everything that Jesus wanted and said. They withheld the Bible, they lie and cheat.

This Pope Francis is changing everything all over again, and he's going against God and the world loves him!

WOAH WOAH WOAH
YOU DO NOT TALK **** ABOUT THE NEW POPE IN FRONT OF ME

Are you completely blind? Do you even know what he does? That Ratzinger guy left because he knew he was doing an horrible job, based Francesco actually interacts with people, makes them happy, he's already done lots of great things for charity and stuff I don't even know well.
He... he seriously hasn't changed anything, just being closer to people than the last one...
I don't even know how to react to your post, how is he going against...

edit: Also, wtf, you managed to get me off track with that, I only mentioned the pope. It was to say that we're 100% religious and we're still worse than you guys so your point doesn't make any sense.
