A cat ran by Quickclaw, who leapt in surprise. She took off at a faster pace, hoping Falconpaw could keep up.

Falconpaw ran after Quickclaw as fast as he could, avoiding the cat who had run by.

Quickclaw realized she was leaving Falconpaw behind and she slowed down.

Falconpaw caught up, panting. "Where...are.....the herbs?" He asked.

Quickclaw nods.
"Right up ahead."

Falconpaw nodded and went up to collect some of the herbs, being careful not to accidentally eat anything.

Quickclaw limped behind Falconpaw.

"Are these the ones you need?" Falconpaw muttered through a mouthful of herbs.

Quickclaw nods.

"Then we'd better get back before we're found again." Falconpaw said, running back toward the bramble thicket.

Quickclaw nodded and ran after Falcon.

Falconpaw made it to the bramble thicket yet again, holding the loose brambles aside for Quickclaw.

Quickclaw limped in, thanking Falconpaw for holding the brambles.

Falconpaw followed Quickclaw in and asked, "How do these herbs work, exactly?"

Quickclaw laughed. She took the herbs and turned them into a paste, which she applied to their wounds and bound with cobweb.
"There." She said.

"I...guess that works." Falconpaw said as he laid down in the tiny clearing that was in the bramble thicket. "So," he asked, "What happened to you that made you want to live on your own?"

Quickclaw shook her head.
"The fact I was useless to my clan. I lack any strength, so I have to resort to my intellect and speed. It didn't help me this time, and I received so many wounds."

"How did you escape with all of your injuries slowing you down?" Falconpaw asked.

Quickclaw looked at him.
"Thunderfang. He was another Windclan warrior retreating from the fight. He assisted me before taking off on his own."

"Do you know where he is now?" Falconpaw asked.

Quickclaw shook her head.
"Last time I heard, he lives with a small pack in the Twolegplace and he goes by the name Kiba."

"Interesting." Falconpaw said.

Quickclaw nods.
"Funny. He still keeps the word Fang in his name."

"I didn't have many friends in my clan." Falconpaw said. "I was always kind of an outsider."

"I usually was a loner, but Kiba was good company.

"I guess it's common nowadays." Falconpaw said. "Many clan outsiders have withdrawn from the clan battles and learned to live on their own."

Quickclaw nods.
"I might try to find Kiba. Will you come too?"

"Of course." Falconpaw said. "I have nothing else to do anyway."

Quickclaw nodded.
"Let's go."

Falconpaw followed Quickclaw, humming as he went.

Quickclaw walked over hills until they reached Twolegplace.

"I've never been to twolegplace before." Falconpaw said nervously.

Quickclaw looks around.
"It hasn't changed much. I was an alley cat here before I came to the clans, so I know this place."

Kiba looked at her.
"Come on. You can come with me and Copper."

"Um... Okay," Tia meowed, jumping down from the fence.

"I still don't like the look of it." Falconpaw mewed. "There could be lots of dangers in there."

Quickclaw laughed.
"Come on."

Kiba walked beside Tia.
"Hey! Copper! Slow down!"

"Walk faster!" called Copper.

"Alright, alright, I'm coming." Falconpaw said. Then he muttered to himself, "I still don't like this place."

Quickclaw trotted down an alley with Falcon, calling Kiba's name.

"Kiba!!!" Falconpaw called. "Where are you?"

"Watcha need Kiba for?" says a low voice.

Quickclaw looks up to see a ferocious black tom with many battle scars and cold blue eyes looking down at them.

"Uhh, my friend here is a friend of Kiba's." Falconpaw said nervously. "We don't want any trouble, but we need to find him."

As they walked, Tia looked at her paws.

"A friend huh?" The tom says, leaping down. "Name?"

"Quickclaw." Says Quickclaw.

The cat nods.
"Alright, name sounds valid, follow me."

Falconpaw followed Quickclaw and asked, "Can we trust this cat?"

"If he knows Kiba, I'm going to trust him." Says Quickclaw.

The three reach a small alcove and the black cat calls out a name.
"Hey Chive!"

A small cat appears, no bigger than Falconpaw.
"Yes Serge?"

"Where's Kiba? Is he out?" Serge growls.

Chive nods.
"He went that way with Copper not long ago. You could probably catch up with him pretty fast."

Serge nods and begins to pad off, waving with his tail for Quickclaw and Falcon to follow.

Falconpaw followed, easing up a little bit. These cats lived in harmony, as the clans once had. Maybe there was hope for the cats here yet.

"Kiba came to us not long ago. Our little group had been falling apart. We had no leader, and we were beaten up easily and so often. When Kiba came, we took care of his wounds, and he became our leader. He keeps our group together." said Serge.

Tia continued looking at her paws.

Kiba looked at Tia.

"I'm glad you guys are hanging in there." Falconpaw said.
