ok, with the update it said that you need to delete the minecraft and redownload it from the minecraft site

That's what I did.

I tried force updating the old one. That didn't work. I tried re-downloading the new launcher, and it worked, but it brings up this thing telling me there's a bug, and I have to play 1.5.2 for now. But at least it plays now. There's no "Quit unexpectedly"message, so that's good. It runs. I just need to figure out how to get 1.6.1 to work.
