Kiara simply got on the train. The train wasn't much special. Just your everyday cargo delivery train made of wood, but it had been cleaned out quite nicely. Once inside, most of the train was wood, but a special room was lined with metal. In that one, resting on a pillow inside a glass box on a pedestal was the gem. Kiara went in and promptly sat down at the nearest bench.

A big number 47 appeared above the lacarima after the attack was over. Nouste's smile never left his face. The lacarima appeared completely unscathed though. The old dude nodded. "Well, welcome to Pheonix Wing!" He said to Zaz.

As the flames retracted themselves they were reduced back to red glitter. As much as was previously in the vial gathered itself back at her neck, and the glass reassembled itself, reverting to its original state and containing the glitter. The excess, however, remained on the floor. Zaz blushed a little.
"I still don't know how to get rid of the extra glitter," she confessed. "At least, not with my own magic."
She looked down at the mess and rocked back and forth on her feet.
"Should I clean this up?"

Angel and Faye boarded the train. They went in the room with the gem and took their seats. Angel sat down in the corner of the room by herself, playing with her pet spider. Faye took her seat on a bench on the opposite side of the room from Angel.

Alaine boarded the train after the others, looking around the carriage. "I haven't been on a train in years.." she muttered, her smile disappearing. One of her childhood friends had died in a train accident after moving houses several years ago. Ever since, she hadn't really ridden trains often. She sat on a bench a few rows back from the door, still fairly close to the gem.

"Eh. We clean up after the guild closes anyway. As long as it isn't dangerous to leave, it should be fine." Nouste nodded and then opened the door to the guild's well.... big, giant main room. "Welcome to Pheonix Wing." He smiled as he went inside.

The train started, moving slowly at first, and then rapidly picking up speed. Kiara seemed to distantly look out the window.

Blaine and Damien were in the main room of the guild, currently wrestling each other to see who was stronger. As usual, they appeared to be evenly matched. And at least they weren't using their magic right now, which left the guild in better shape than it would have been if they did. They were too busy fighting each other to notice that there was a new member.

Angel was still playing with her pet. Faye started to quietly hum.

Alaine gazed out at the scenery moving past the window, unconsciously fiddling with the pendant hanging around her neck. She glanced back at the gem, then decided to just leave it be for a while.

"Oh, it's not dangerous," Zaz replied cheerfully. Her voice seemed consumed with gratefulness, as if finally having it sink in that she had been accepted. She dashed into the main room as if in celebration, not entirely paying attention to what was ahead of her.

Blaine was now creating fire balls and throwing them at Damian. The Storm mage was easily able to dodge his rivals poor attempt at throwing fire. He knew the Fire mage could do better than that. Unfortunately, the fire balls had to hit something, like say the guild itself. Damien quickly noticed, however, soon making little rain clouds to put out the small fires that were starting. While he was distracted with that, Blaine attacked him from behind with a good ol' kick to the back. The two rivals continued to wrestle without using magic, while the small rain clouds were left unintended. Now instead of burning the place down, it was raining inside.

Zaz stopped in her tracks and watched the fight, marveling at the chaos. Did Nouste know about this? Why did she care? This was the first magic fight she'd ever seen, and she was not about to intervene and ruin the show. She stood a good distance away from Damien and Blaine and watched the two mages fight.

Nouste heaved an old sigh and snapped his fingers. Something seemed a bit different about the sound that was made when snapping his fingers. It sort of half-echoed yet it was a lower pitch than any snap should've been capable of. Almost immediately, the clouds dissipated.

Kiara looked back. "We're being followed." She said in a serious tone. "But I can't see or pick up who. Be careful guys. Alaine, stay in the back if a fight breaks out."

The two mages didn't even notice as they continued to wrestle each other. Blaine started throwing fire balls again, while Damien kept dodging with ease. When that didn't work, Blaine started throwing fire from his hands in a constant stream, like a flamethrower. This time, Damien stood his ground and shot lightning from his hands, countering the fire. The faced off, neither one backing down as they tried to outdo the other. They seemed evenly matched as the fire and lightning was hardly budging at all.

Nouste sighed again, looking to Zaz. "Don't worry. This happens all the time. Repairing damage is a pain, but the guild's actually usually more rowdy than this." He went of into his corner, trying to avoid most of the crossfire.

An idea struck Zaz and she took out the translucent vial and placed it around her neck. Would they be mad, of would this be the perfect entrance for the enthused glitter mage. As with the fire vial, the contents of the translucent vial bursted from their container and began to swirl, simply passing through anything in their path as if the glitter was the wind itself. It blew out a majority of the fire and dissipated some of the lightening.

Blaine and Damien were both puzzled as they saw their magic start to dissipate.
"What the--?" Blaine questioned, totally confused. Damien looked around and Zaz.
"Hey, look." Damien said to his rival, gesturing to the new mage.
"Who's that?" Blaine asked as he noticed her.
"No clue." Damien muttered. "Hey, you!" He raised his voice. "Did you do that?" He asked Zaz. He sounded mad and narrowed his gaze on her. Blaine looked back and forth between them for a moment. He just seemed more confused than anything.

Zaz froze. Maybe interrupting a magic fight wasn't the best way to make an entrance. The translucent glitter did teh same thing the red had, gathering itself back at her neck along with the vial, a large mess left behind. Play it cool, Zaz, she thought.
"Ta daaaaa!" she sang awkwardly, striking a halfhearted pose. Her face was slightly flushed.

Damien and Blaine were both quiet a moment.
"What.... Was that?" Damien asked. He didn't seem at all impressed. He cocked his head and raised an eyebrow, staring at her like she was weird or something. On the plus side, he didn't seem as mad as before.
"Is that fire magic? Because I've never seen fire magic like that before." Blaine muttered, still seemingly more confused than anything.
"That wasn't fire magic, you idiot. It was...... Something else..." Damien said, glancing at Blaine briefly, and then looking back at Zaz. Blaine stared at him a moment and blinked. Then he stared at Zaz for a moment. Then he walked over to her.
"Hey, what kind of magic was that?" Blaine asked her. He seemed curious.

"Um, that was wind," Zaz explained. "But, like, glitter."
Like before, the excess glitter was scattered about the room, creating quite a huge mess. She attempted to explain further.
"It was glitter... but it like, imitates wind, but not as strong because it's just glitter," she elaborated. "Like, it acts like wind, but it isn't as strong as real wind."

Blaine blinked and stared at her a moment. Damien still gave her a weird look.
"Glitter? You've gotta be kidding me." He groaned. "What kind of magic is that? That's gotta be the lamest thing I've ever heard of." Damien shook his head.
"Well, I think it sounds like fun." Blaine smiled.
"Pfft. Maybe. But it won't be good for anything, except birthday parties." Damien grumbled.
"I bet it has it's uses." Blaine replied. "Oh, uh, anyway, I should introduce myself. I'm Blaine, a fire mage." He grinned, creating a fire ball in his hand. He then dissipated it. "The jerk over there is Damien, a storm mage." He gestured to Damien, who merely huffed.

She looked from Damien to Blaine and spoke again.
"So, fire mage, huh?" she gave an interested smile and flashed around her red vial.

"Zaz. Cool." Blaine grinned, shaking her hand. "Yeah, I can use flames. I could demonstrate by roasting the jerk, but he likes to douse my flames with his little rain clouds." He said. Damien rolled his eyes.
"Don't get any ideas, you pyromaniac. The last time you overdid it, you nearly burned down the guild. At least I can put the fire out with my magic." He huffed.
"You're just jealous that my magic is more powerful than yours."
"What?! I control the weather! I could fry your butt with a lightning bolt before you could move!" Damien shouted.

Zaz giggled. Magic fights on a normal basis, running magic-related errands, a youthful rivalry between two mages- it was everything she imagined that being in a Guild would be, and not only that, but her form of magic was, at least by a few, accepted. And she appeared to have made at the very least, a good acquaintance, perhaps even a friend. She strode happily to the portion of the room where the various tasks were posted.

"I'd like to see you try, weatherman!" Blaine taunted.
"You couldn't handle all the power of a storm, hot shot!" Damien shouted back.
"Bring it on then!" The fire mage grinned. Damien then let out a battle cry as he rushed towards Blaine with his fists in the air, ready to attack. Just then, Sarai walked into the guild, as she had just gotten back from a mission. She already noticed that those two were fighting again. She sighed and shook her head.
"Immature children. If they insist on fighting, they should at least do it outside." She muttered to herself. Then Sarai used her Myth magic to summon a troll. He was a simple green, bulky fellow, with a simple brown leather outfit, and a spiked club. Once the beast took form, he turned to face his master, awaiting orders. "Stop those idiots from making a mess of things. Oh, and put them outside." She directed him. The troll nodded and hurried off to complete his task. The troll hit Damien and Blaine over the head, getting their attention and preventing a fight between them from starting. Then he simply grabbed them by their feet to drag them both outside. "Good boy." Sarai said to the troll as he walked past her. The troll tossed them outside, and then Sarai made him disappear. The two mages then proceeded to wrestle each other outside the guild. Meanwhile. Sarai headed over to the request board to pick out a new job.

Nouste smiled and chuckled a bit. "That'd be Sarai. You'd do well not to mess with her." He warned Zaz, sitting down and sipping some tea that looked like it had been prepared not too long ago.

Kiara remained tense, palms pushed together. For a few minutes, there was no sound. Her heartbeat quickened. Tension was thick in the air. The train hit a few bumps, but nothing out of the ordinary occurred. (And I thought I should mention because I forgot to do so before. Silly me.) The gem in question was ruggedly cut, having a distorted octagonal shape. The color was a deep purple color and it seemed to be swirling with darker, dust-like blue material.

Sarai thought she heard her name, and looked around the guild a moment. She saw Nouste, and started to look back at the request board, when she noticed Zaz. Hmm. An unfamiliar face. She must be a new wizard in the guild. Ah, well, it is none of my concern at the moment. She thought. Then Sarai simply looked back at the request board to choose another job.

Angel wasn't even paying any attention to her surroundings as she played with her pet. She considered the job too easy and boring anyway. It wasn't like anything exciting was going to happen. Faye, however, was quietly humming to herself, kicking her feet back and forth, and looking around the room. She seemed more content than bored, almost liking the easy and simple job.

Faye glanced over, looking at the gem. Now that she was paying attention to it, it did seem a bit creepy. But it was probably nothing to worry about. The gem was just some valuable stone, right?
"I guess, but it's nothing to worry about. I mean, it's just a hunk of rock that we're protecting to make sure it gets from point A to point B." Faye said. Angel looked up from her pet and looked over at the gem.
"I think it's cool." She stated simply. "That dark purple color, with the swirling blue dust-like stuff in it. It's really cool." She said. Faye stared at her a moment. "What? I like creepy things. Heck, I summon the dead and have a pet spider. That gem would fit perfectly in my room. But it's not like it does anything. It's just some expensive stone that looks neat." Angel said calmly.

Alaine went pale, staring wide-eyed at Angel. "Y-you summon the dead?" She stuttered. She may not be scared of spiders, but the very thought of death absolutely frightened her. "You said you were a Death Mage.. but I didn't think that you could.." Alaine shivered, dropping her gaze to the ground. She decided to leave it there, suddenly thinking about her friend.

Angel blinked and looked at her for a moment. She wasn't really surprised or anything. This happened often. People were uncomfortable, if not nervous or frightened by Angel's form of magic. Even Faye kept her distance sometimes.
"Well, undead, technically." Angel clarified. "Zombies, vampires, ghosts, uh, other monsters and stuff you'd expect to see in a horror movie. You know, usual things that go bump in the night. Not to mention the ability to slowly drain someone's life force, restoring my own health in the process. My magic is a kind of lost magic, and--" Angel was suddenly cut off as Faye covered her mouth with her hand.
"Stop it! You're scaring her!" She scolded, speaking quietly under her breath.
"Yeah, that happens a lot." Angel shrugged as if it was no big deal. "But death isn't something to be scared of. It's natural. Happens to everyone. Mine as well get used to it." She said, rather coldly. Faye just glared at her. Angel then huffed. "Come on, Octo, it looks like we're not wanted here anymore." She said to her pet. Then she walked off into the other room, closing the door behind her. Angel sighed, then turned to Alaine.
"Are you okay?" She asked gently.

Faye was hesitant to answer, but she couldn't hide the truth. After all, she would have found out what Angel was capable of eventually.
"Yes." She said quietly. "But it isn't as bad as it sounds. For starters, she has no powers that allow her to instantly kill someone or anything like that. She can weaken a person and strengthen herself, but not to the point of death or restoring life, even. She's not even supposed to use that ability. As far as summoning dead things goes, they aren't real. They may seem real, but it's just a creepy thing that she created. I suppose, with her magic being a form of lost magic, that the level of her powers and abilities could be more terrifying, but she isn't allowed to use the full limits of her magic. I know it's scary, there are times when it still bothers me, but despite Angel seeming cold and uncaring at times, she really isn't a bad person or anything. She may like to scare people, but she never goes too far with it. She knows her magic can be dangerous, and she is careful with it." She explained.

"Angel, wait!" Kiara called out. As soon as Angel closed the door, something thumped on the roof of the train. Then another....and another...and another thump. Kiara slowly stood up. "Guys.....these aren't normal robbers." She grinned. "But let's see what they got!" A minute passed and more thumps split the tense silence. "There's 28. Faye, stay with Alaine and make sure Angel's not in any trouble. I'll protect the—" Suddenly there was a whipping noise. The train shook. "Light Make: Barrier!" Kiara shot a spark of light at the gem they were protecting and a sphere of light appeared around the gem. And not a moment too soon, for what looked like to be a twisted, very dark green vine stabbed through the roof and shot toward the gem. The light barrier stopped it. There was a sizzling, popping noise as the light burned the vine. The vine retreated.

"A vine?" Faye questioned curiously. "Does one of them use Life magic?" She asked quietly. "But that doesn't really matter. We have to keep them from getting the gem." She said, determined. Then suddenly, Angel hurried back into the room, with Octo sitting on her left shoulder. "Angel, you're okay!" Faye cried out happily.
"Yeah, course I'm okay. But we got company. We should be able to beat 'em if we work together." She said.

Zaz sighed. What to do, what to do. We can fulfill requests, right? Maybe Damien or Blaine would digress from their fighting to go do one of those.

"I'm not working with the idiot." Damien said, crossing his arms. Blaine rubbed his chin a moment.
"Fine, I didn't want to work with you, anyway." He replied. Then he turned to Zaz. "But I would be happy to teach you what I know." He grinned.
"You're too dumb to teach anyone. She'd be better off learning the ropes from anyone else."
"What, you think you could teach her better than me?"
"I could do anything better than you, hot shot."
"Alright, then, challenge accepted. The one who teaches Zaz the most valuable information wins." Blaine smirked.

Alaine regained some colour and stood up, staying close to Faye. She put gloves on her hands and drew a dagger from her boot. The vine had left a small puncture in the roof, she noticed, but she couldn't see anything of importance. As if testing the dagger she ran her finger along the blade, pleased to see a very faint trace of purple liquid on the glove's surface.

More vines stabbed into the roof, but like hooks this time, tearing open the roof of the car. Kiara gasped and ran over, enveloping herself in the barrier that covered the gem and now herself as well. She concentrated hard to maintain the barrier.

A figure stood at the center of all the vines. The vines seemed to be protruding from the sleeves of the long robe he was wearing and out the bottom of the robe as well. His robes were a dark, brownish-purple color. His hair was wild, like a rockstar's, dyed a maroon color, large and spiky. The robe he wore was pitch-black, and had grayer symbols depicting vines, skulls, and other nasty plant things. On the top of his head was a symbol of what seemed like bubbles rising out of an area. Kiara looked at Faye. "It's the dark guild, Corrosive Bubble."

Meanwhile, where Angel was, 10 of the dark guild members had broken through the windows and were preparing to take her on with their magic.

Faye stared at the wizard, watching him closely. A member of the dark guild, Corrosive Bubble. What did they want with the gem? Was the stone more valuable than they realized? Whatever they wanted with the gem, they couldn't let him take it.

Angel looked around her, seeing the ten guild members. She smirked confidently.
"So you guys want to party? Then let's have a little fun, shall we? First, allow me to even the playing field." She grinned. "Souls of the dead, come to my side, defend your master." She chanted. Angel then summoned ten ghosts, one to face off and fight each of the wizards.

Meanwhile, Octo was no longer with his owner. He had wandered into the other room and hurried up to the barrier. He jumped around a bit, as if trying to get their attention. His owner was in trouble.

"A job?" Blaine asked, suddenly distracted. He managed to get himself punched in the face by Damien.

Zaz smiled, enthused at how absolutely easy it was to gain company. She strode confidently back into the main room and to the request board.
What to do, what to do...
Finally, she closed her eyes and reached out, tearing a random paper from it's place. Without bothering to read it, she ran outside to Damien and Blaine, holding it the air.
"This one!"

"Like you could even--" Damien started to say, when Blaine noticed Zaz had picked a job already.
"Oh, hey, you got one." He said.
"Let me see that." Damien insisted, grabbing the sheet. He read silently to himself.
"Well? What's it say?" Blaine asked curiously. Damien looked up from the paper and looked at Zaz.
"Did you even look at this first?" He asked her.
"Why? What's it say?" Blaine asked, more persistently, trying to peek over Damien's shoulder. Damien just shoved him back and ignored him.
"Did you read this?" He asked again.

"There were a lot," Zaz blushed "I don't know much about any of these requests, so I kinda just grabbed one."
Zaz rubbed the back of her neck, nervous that she had chosen a less-than-desirable task.
"Why? What does it say?"

"It says that someone got themselves lost in Caligo Forest. The job is to find them and bring them back home safely." Damien said.
"Oh. That doesn't sound too bad." Blaine said, relieved. Damien smacked him upside the head. "Ow! What'd I do?!" He asked while rubbing his head.
"Caligo Forest is said to be very dangerous. The trees are so big that they block out sunlight, making it very hard to see in there, even during the day. The forest is also filled with all kinds of creatures, many of them being highly aggressive and territorial. Anyone who goes there is either foolishly brave or insanely stupid." Damien said with all seriousness.
"Oh." Blaine muttered. "Well, I guess we better get going." He grinned.
"You mean you're actually going to go to Caligo Forest?"
"Well, yeah. The job has already been picked. We gotta go help the guy."
"Hmph. Then you qualify as both brave and stupid."
"Thanks." Blaine grinned. Then he realized what was actually said. "Hey! I'll have you know that I could totally rule that forest. First of all, I got fire, so no running around in the dark for me. And second of all, there isn't a creature in that forest that I couldn't handle. And I wouldn't need your help for this mission."
"If you want to go get yourself lost or eaten, that's fine by me. At least it'll be quieter with you gone." Damien huffed.

"Not now Octo....." Kiara stared at the black-clod guy just above them. "Ohh, what's this?" The guy smirked. "Aww...look at all the little birdies I've got in a cage!" He held out his hands. "Vine: Espereflaugh!" He growled, 6 vines shooting out of each sleeve. These vines grew at an abnormal, rapid rate, and seemed to have spiky, 1-inch thorns dotted all along them. Ouchy! They whipped themselves at incredible speed, heading for the gem and everything around it. The light barrier around the gem cracked just a little, like glass. It sent spidery lines over the ball.

Meanwhile, back with Angel....

"Oh ho-ho, pretty birdy, you think that the deceased can withstand the might of wizards? Baren, why don't you....make the odds a little MORE uneven." One of the mages stepped out, and as he was walking, suddenly there were three more Baren behind them. "But of course." He grinned each of them hopping onto benches to the right. They multiplied again. 6 Baren's. "Now, why don't we just clip your wings for ya' pretty birdy."

Octo moved closer to where Faye was, jumping around, still trying to get someone's attention.
"We're a little busy right now, Octo." She said to him. The little spider slumped a bit, saddened that his owner wouldn't receive immediate help. So he hurried back to Angel, and quickly crawled up to her left shoulder. At least he could keep his owner company while she battled.

Faye gritted her teeth, knowing the light barrier wouldn't last too much longer, and unfortunately her healing magic didn't work on objects, only living things. They had to find a way to stop this guy. They couldn't let him take the gem. Faye then had an idea. Using her Life magic, she added a wooden barrier to strengthen the light barrier. It wouldn't last long, but it would give them more time.

Angel huffed, and the ghosts surrounded her, floating around in a circle, as if acting as a shield for their master.
"Don't be so cocky. You can't harm what's already dead. And I've got plenty more where they came from. You see, I've got friends in low places." She said with a confident smirk. Then just as she said that, a horde of zombies began to rise up from the ground all around them. The slow moving corpses surrounded their targets and moved in to strike. Zombies may be slow and weak, but it was easy to multiply their numbers.

Zaz stood back as the two quarreled and calculated her odds. She was only a beginner, and, of course, she and done barely anything dangerous. How deep in the woods could this missing person possibly be, though? She shook her head. If anything would help get her identity established in the Guild, this would. She walked to the place she had been sitting, and picked up a light brown knapsack, slinging it over her shoulder. She walked back to where Damien and Blaine were arguing.
"Sounds like we've got ourselves a task," she expressed.

The two stopped their fighting and looked at her. Blaine then grinned.
"See? Zaz has the right idea. We gotta go get the job done." He said. Damien sighed and then facepalmed.
"I already told you that it's a bad idea. She's not even a strong enough wizard to be going there. You're not even good enough to be going there. We don't know what kind of creatures are in that forest, or how far we have to go to rescue that guy. We could even get lost ourselves. This is probably something more suited for an S-class wizard." He said. Then just at that moment, one of the S-class wizards, Sarai, walked out of the guild, pausing for a moment just a couple of feet from them.
"Well, what do you know, there's an S-class wizard over there. If it'll make you feel better Damien, we could have her join us." Blaine suggested.
"Now I know you're mental. Sarai doesn't team up with anyone. She prefers to work alone, and considering she just threw us out of the guild with one of her trolls earlier, there's no way in the world that she would team up with us. In fact, I don't even want to team up for this mission."
"Fine. Zaz and I will go ourselves. We'll get all the credit and keep the reward for ourselves. We don't need you or an S-class wizard." He spat. Damien just huffed and headed back inside the guild. Sarai overheard and looked over at them.

Zaz idled some more, waiting for the two to finish their fighting. She started to rethink her possibilities of success, but stopped herself.
What will they think of you if you call off the task? No, you've gotta stand strong. Maybe it's not as bad as he's making it out to be.
She glanced at Sarai, wondering what she could be making of all this commotion.
