in the new level of tower defense (31 to 36) if you win you can get 600 to 800 coins per level

I think they tweeked some stuff with the latest upgrade to even out levels. It seems like they factor in discounts depending on how many skylanders you own, so I think they reward people that buy more skylanders with better pricing on upgrades for skylands objects/upgrades. I can't remember how much anything was so I can't verify if this is true or not, haha.
