Okay then, one last science talk. This is an essay on why you cannot divide by zero. By me.

A (relatively) simple explanation as to why you cannot divide by ZERO.

It is common knowledge that dividing by "zero" creates an error on most calculators. This has become a massive, long-running internet meme -- but there is a relatively simple reason why it is not possible to divide by "zero".

All numbers and equations can be translated into a graph -- adding or subtracting from "x", the variable key for most graphing calculators, shifts the line which traces the points each equation effectively creates. Multiplication and usually division cause the graph to become more or less steep. Exponents usually add curvature to the graph.

So the key is, Y = X for a simple 1/1 graph, Y = X + or - Z for a shifted graph, Y = X * or / Z for a graph of different inclination (division causes it to be shallower, multiplication causes it to be steeper), and Y = XZ (or X(W/Z), though it isn't a parabola it adds curvature to the graph) for a simple parabola (curved line). There are many variations of these equations, but these are the simplest.

Now, there's another simple equation which most school-children are taught in algebra -- M = rise/run. Linear equations have "Y = MX + B". Now think, if M = rise/run, then what is divided by zero is ultimately a straight-up and down line: the rise can be anything, but if it doesn't have any "run" to it, then it's going straight up -- as such, it reaches all the way to infinity. Now why does this create an error on non-graph parts of a calculator? Because the answer to anything divided by zero -- is infinite. "Undefined", the way I was taught it. If you try and solve for "Y = MX + B", and the "M" contains a number divided by zero, then it is going directly up, to infinity. If it were (5/0)4, where B is replaced by 0 (no shift) and X is replaced by "4", then solving for "Y". For the sake of simplicity: (1/2)4 (as opposed to 5/0) is where "Y" = 2, because "4" is the X amount where you can get -- determined by the "run" part of the M equation. you move to the right twice, up one, right twice, up once, stop. You've hit the desired "X" coordinate. The "Y" coordinate is revealed to be "2".

By contrast, 5/0. The "X" can't exist because the "Run" part of the equation is 0. Since you can't move either direction with a "0", you can't reach the specified "X" location, and because of that, you keep rising and rising, but will never be capable of reaching your desired "X". Hence, you get an error - the 0 will cause the calculator to keep piling up numbers for "Y", but because the "X" remains at zero at all times, it won't stop because it is not possible to reach the desired "X" number.

In summary, you can't divide by zero because it is like an asymptote, but worse. Unlike an asymptote, you're never getting close to the desired "X", but will continue piling on "Y" coordinates until the end of time.

Chapter IIII: Despondence

Peyrite entered Malle's room, as he was told, and he said, "You called for me?". Malle, standing at the balcony, turned his deeply scarred face towards Peyrite and said, "Come.". As Peyrite did so, and came closer, he said to Malle, "What is this? What are these marks?", as he ran his fingers across an ashen line on Malle's neck, divided by a twist. Malle said, "They are rope burns.". Peyrite, knowing full well what he implied, said, "You tried to kill yourself? But why?".

Malle looked out towards the distant stars and said, "I never changed. When I was released from the bind of Dryncet, I thought I could change. I thought I no longer had to be a demon, no longer had to be evil. But I was wrong.". Peyrite said, "That can change, you don't need to die!". Malle said, "Excavenger, I have been in Naipham three times, more than any other. Hardly has any being been so tortured and destroyed as me.".

Malle, clearly under powerful stress, continued, "When I lost my cursed name, I believed I truly had changed. But then, in my lust, avarice, and malice that still so tightly bound me, I did horrible things. I hurt you, and even worse, I hurt Amber. While you had but days to think on it, I had aeons. I lost all feeling, emotion, but remained with regret. I remained an empty, vapid shell, consumed, but I was always haunted about how I wronged Amber. I called out, crying for forgiveness, for countless centuries.".

Malle continued, "But no answer ever came. I cried in pain, anger, and sorrow for so long. After several centuries of bitter screaming and crying, my voice wore out. Eventually, time erased all my memory, and all my feeling, and all my thought. I became nothing. I could not protest longer, and in fact, I could not have thought at all. It was not the chains, nor the lightning that killed me. It was my memories that did. And now I still weep. For now I know, I never stopped being a demon.".

Peyrite said, "I can make this better, you don't need to kill yourself.". Malle looked at Peyrite despondently, and said, "No, there is no peace for me. I can never feel again. I can never be reconciled. I am meaningless.". Suddenly, Malle stormed out, Peyrite following, saying, "Oh crap, I know what he is going to do.". Malle approached the table that Amber was sitting, picked up one of her guns, and pressed the barrel into the side of his head, ready to shoot at any moment. Amber said, "What are you doing? Put that down, Malle!".

Malle said, his heat beating hard, his breathing erratic, "I'm here to put an end to it all. I had a life. It became forfeit, ergo, I have no purpose.". Amber, genuinely scared, shouted, "Don't do this, Malle! You don't have to die!". At this moment, Peyrite came rushing down the stairs, only to hear the frightening and horrifying words coming from the suicidal Malle, at any moment ready to die.

Malle said, "Nothing has purpose. I cannot feel. I cannot love. I am worthless. I had everything, and I threw it away. I don't deserve love! I don't deserve compassion! I don't deserve forgiveness, joy, happiness, mercy, or kindness! Tonight, I rid the world of my burden!". As he cocked the gun, Amber cried, "People love you, Malle! Don't make us lose you!", to which Malle just shook his head and said, "Malle, I am not! I am Malleder!". Amber said, "People will mourn!", and Malle shouted, "No one mourns a demon! Tonight, I go to Hell, where I belong!".

As Peyrite got to the landing, he bolted after Malle, but as he ran, Malle uttered his final words: "Amber, I love you.". At that moment, split-seconds before Excavenger could get to him, Malle pressed the trigger, and a bullet tore straight through his brain, killing him instantly. Amber and Peyrite both cried out, "Malle!", as Malle collapsed dead to the floor, blood pouring out of his head. A cold, dark expression was on Malle's lifeless face, his eyes gently closed and a tear had run down his cheek.

Peyrite, Amber, Spyro, Sange, Chyron... everyone looked with an expression of horror, shock, and sadness upon Malle, victim to his own terrible misfortunate life events, a soul that could not be helped. None could help but feel a share of guilt for whatever reason, and all of them could not help but feel sadness that any soul could be in such terrible torture of a life and be so ruined. Worst of all, they knew he was bound for Hell, to forever feel further torture.

As the night fell, all the dragons held a candlelit vigil by the lake for Malle, each dressed in robes of sackcloth, in time of his loss of life. Peyrite said to all the dragons this final epithet of Malle, one of sorrow and veneration, as everyone closed their eyes as was respectful to do:

"Pity should all of us have on such a being as this. From birth, Malle, innocent in his beginning, was ordained to suffer the most bitter torture for his extremely long life. For three times had he been through the tortures of Naipham, suffering unspeakable pain. Let us feel true sorrow for him, that all his life be suffering and misery, and most of it spent forced to do evil against his will. He tried so hard to redeem himself, and though everyone forgave him on count of his heroics, pain could never elude him.

Endless things could I say, but I say one more important than any other: I weep to the core that nothing could save him, and I cry for him, for he will face torment forever more. I have nothing but the most powerful and true sorrow for Malle, that his life was nothing but ruination. And I am sad to the greatest degree that we can never get him back. May God bless him and guide his soul, wherever it may be lost. Malle, may thy soul find rest, the rest it always deserved and never could get. Amen.".

That midnight, Malle was buried in the Second Circle of the Mausoleum, for those of the second highest honor, as Peyrite believed so noble a warrior, dragon, and friend deserved none less. After the burial, Peyrite went up to his quarters. When he came in, he saw Amber, sitting, crouched, at the balcony, crying and drinking a bottle of wine. Peyrite went up to her and said, "Amber, honey, it's 1:00. You are still awake?". Amber nodded and said, "I can't sleep... I just can't. Malle was my husband once. I do feel for him as a person.".

Peyrite looked around and saw no less than twenty empty wine bottles and said, "One, how are you not drunk? Two, how are you still conscious?". He noted further about ten gallon jugs of moonshine, thirty cases of beer, and fourty-eight bottle's of Mike's, all empty. Peyrite said, "How are you not DEAD? This much alcohol... Crap, Spyro couldn't drink this much!". Amber said, "It's to keep my fluids up, my emotions down, and to kill the pain.". Peyrite crouched beside her and said, "Trust me, we'll get through this. Just try getting some rest.".

As Peyrite and Amber settled into bed, Peyrite said, "Oh, and try not to piss yourself in your sleep. That would take weeks to clean up.".

Well, first and foremost, this chapter means Malle is DEFINITIVELY dead. While revival is possible, it would be extremely cruel to do it to him.

Vegetable implies life in a coma-like state. However, Malle is "dead".

Oh. OK then. Unless you revive Malle and make him suffer. By the way, wouldn't Amber's BAC be more than half at that rate? Glad to see moonshine exists in the Realms, big Dukes of Hazzard fan.

I'd explain the complex bodily functions and metabolisms of mu characters, but it just is weird.

Oh, so the dragon's metabolism is high enough to burn it all off? Maybe their livers are more powerful.

In us, everything is more powerful. Our digestion is effect enough that we neither require to resort defecation or urination.

Oh, so they don't actually have livers.

No, our anatomies are complete in that way. We just can use our bodies properly and efficiently.

So everything does its purpose well enough that nothing else is needed for that purpose. Good thinking. Another random medical question, what do you think of implanting humans with a double lung, enabling them to breathe both air and water?

Gills would make more sense.

Chapter V: Amore No More

As night fell, Spyro and Sera snuck back into the compound, and the two entered Spyro's quarters. As the two entered, Spyro closed the door with his tail and dimmed the lights. Sera, not knowing the young dragon's intent, said, "It's a little dark, isn't it?". Spyro smiled and said, "Sit down, on the end of the bed.". Sera did so, and Spyro walked to be right in front of her on the floor. Sera said, "What now?". Spyro jumped up and stood on her lap, hands on her shoulders and body pressed against her.

Sera said, "Um, what are you doing?". Spyro, without responding, put his tongue in Sera's mouth. Trying to break free every time Spyro had to breathe, Sera managed to say, "What are you trying to do?". Spyro put pressure on her and said, "Lean back, trust me, it will come pretty naturally.". Sera slowly laid down flat on the bed, and the two closed their eyes slowly, as Spyro ran his hand down Sera, and started unlooping her belt.

Sera's eyes shot open, and she grasped her belt, saying, "That's REALLY not a good idea.". Spyro slowly opened his eyes saying, "Gotta break you in sometime...", with a mischievous smirk across his face. Sera said as she stopped his hand, said, "Now is a REALLY bad time to do that.". Spyro asked, "Why?", still pressing his lips against Sera's mouth. Sera said, "I'm kinda in heat.". Spyro's eyes shot open, and he scrambled off Sera, onto the bed.

Spyro shouted, "Well, when you planning on telling me? Right when I was half-covered in blood?". Sera stood up and got to the floor, putting her belt back on, saying, "First off, I'm wearing a tampon, you little purple twit. Second, I didn't think you'd be trying to 'break me in' tonight. Third, just be thankful it wasn't urine.". Spyro said, "I would have found it pretty sexy if you pissed on me. Not so if you menstruated on me.".

Sera sneered and said, "Grow up, it's a fact of life for a dragoness. I've only had six periods, you were unlucky enough to catch me in the middle of a YEARLY event.". Spyro said, "That means you started at 15. Don't dragonesses usually start at about 12?". Sera said, "I'm a late bloomer, what can I say?". Spyro yelled, "Nonetheless, you could have informed me a LITTLE SOONER!". Sera shouted, trying not to let her hormones convince her to strange the purple dragon, "I didn't know you were going to be a horny putz, kid!".

Spyro yelled, "I'm not a kid. Crap, I've lived several thousand years!". Sera yelled back, "Then why are you barely four and a half feet long, shorty?". Spyro screamed out, "I'm not short, I'm just fun-sized.". At this point, Peyrite, wearing only his slacks, said in a stern loud voice, exasperated, "Not to interrupt what I assume is of DIRE importance, but can you two please shut up so everyone else can sleep?".

Sera and Spyro fell dead silent, and exchanged glanced back and forth. Peyrite sighed, and said, "Now, care to tell me what was going on here?". Sera glanced at Spyro, and said, "Nothing, daddy.". Peyrite gave a sarcastic glance, and said, "Fifteen people you woke up just now beg to differ. Now tell the truth.". Sera blurted out, pointing to Spyro, "Spyro tried to have sex with me!". Spyro, jaw open as she said this, said in shock, "Why would you do that?".

Peyrite said, "One moment.". He dragged Spyro out by the tail, and moments later, a sickening crunch and a scream of horror echoed through the compound. Peyrite came back to Spyro's quarters, and dropped him on the floor. Peyrite said to Spyro angrily, "Next time, she has a ring on her finger, got it?". Spyro clutched his broken legs and said in pain, "Got it.". Sera, shocked, said, "What did you do to him?".

Peyrite said to Sera, "Ensured BOTH of you take your time with this.".
