I always figured "Cyril" was just the most they could get out of ice. Or it has something to do with cirrus clouds... It fit his personality, at least, which is the bigger part of the equation to dragon names. They're named after a physical trait, but, more importantly, their names reflect their personalities.

Ignitus: destined to ignite the fires of revolution or of hope within Spyro

Terrador: firm and strong as the earth itself

Cynder: the ashes of a fire, but also an ember that can be used to start a new flame

And so on. Which is how I got the idea for the DM calling himself Brand as a pseudonym.

Cynder is sorta like a type of fire/coal or somthing and it is also dark so Cynder means-Dark fire or Shadow fire! Shadow/dark fire is her breath (if you didn't know from above). Well this is exactly just me guessing but I think I am sorta close to right.

P.S. Sorry if this dosen't make sense. If it dosen't just tell me and I will try to make it more understandable.

maybe the grand dragons are not to be given names, you see, each of the guardians have their names according to the type, their moms would figure that out when they were just eggs, Spyro was given a name cuz his parents werent dragons, maybe if spyro was bron in the temple he would gain a nickname like the guardians

Good idea. His name could be different if he was born in a family of dragons.

That's a neat idea, Brazilian Spyro. The Chronicler is never given a name, either. Maybe, after a dragon reaches a certain age or gains enough power, he transcends his name.

I was sorta close. Cinder is hot like fire. It is also a sorta of black color (from what I have seen.) So it kind of combines into Cynders breath. They just put a Y instead of an I in her name. I think it looks cooler.

He hasn't been named in either of the games so far, so we won't find out until DH if he even has one.

^ oh great, what if at the end, when Spyro is perming the DM (soz, inside joke that refers to pwning) He asks

"Tell me, what is your name?" Or something like that and then the DM says

"My name is B........" But then something happens like he falls off the mountain or dies or something, so we only know the first letter of his name

Ignitus is a play on the word "ignite" which means to start a fire.
