I'm kinda encountering the same-ish problem, but my friends don't say that 'Spyro sucks'. My suggestion is to stop talking to them about him. It may be hard, like it is/was for me, but it'll work.
I used to be obbsessed with Sonic. I used to talk about him (and the others) and Sonic X sayings all the time.
