I think for a finale, yes, it needed to be more darker. Honestly, DotD seemed way more of a kids game than ANB or TEN did.

^yeah, I agree! I mean how do you go from The Night of Eternal Darkness into somthing like that? I would imagin that the world would've been shrouded in darknss and such if the Dark Master had been out o his prison and free to do whatever he wants to.
I bet if Krome had done it we would have that story we are talking about!

If it was going to be called "The Darkest Hour" while Krome worked on it, I'm sure they were planning on making it really dark. I don't think that DotD seemed like more of a kids game though. ANB and TEN had way more humor in them, and character designs that appealed more to younger children, IMO. DotD was way more down to business, and it was more realistic style wise.

ANB and TEN were dark enough in terms of gameplay- sometimes I had to use my breath to see ahead of me!- so imagine what The Darkest Hour would've been like! But seriously, DotD was the most colourful in the series... Throughout the game, I just didn't see the 'destruction' and 'darkness' I expected to see. Why did activision hire EL over Krome in the first place?

I won't deny your opinion. I don't like them because they change Spyro, Cynder and Sparx from kids to teens.

I don't like the way EL did the story, but I think that the gameplay improved. Especially in the first three levels. |

Yeah, the story was a big mistake. But yeah, the first three level's gameplay was great.

The first mistake would definitley be that they were trapped inside a mountain that completly caved in, and the next minute they are at some temple, how did the enemies manage to move that? And why would they move it anyway? I thought that Hunter would save them by opening the crystal himself. I think it would make more sense if that happened. |

But see, Krome's sadly denied idea didn't nescicarily have to be the finale. Krome could have made it a quadrology and made Dawn of The Dragon take place AFTER The Darkest Hour(not in storyline, I think that would just be the name).

Yes, that could have happened, though I doubt they will come up with the name Dawn of the Dragon.

Actually he did seem like an emo in it... I never noticed that before! But it wasn't just him; all of the characters seemed to, I don't know, lose their spark. I blame the writers! But what did Krome mean when they say a 'darker' game?More death? Less Valley of Avalar?

Well, it would have been better.Spyro wouldn't be pink.Cynder wouldn't be dark purple/deep blue.Ignitus wouldn't have his mouth too gecko-ish or too much realism.I don't know who wrote the script so...
Basically, the game could have been better and would have caused less drama.

No, it's a FACT that he's not emo. Emo is a term that has a definitive meaning and Spyro doesn't fit the meaning.
Here is the meaning, quoted from Urban Dictionary: Quote:

Don't worry about it. I'm just saying he seems like an emo because he gets emotional sometimes...
Krome would have done a way better job at making DotD, or TDH. |
sonicbrawler182 Platinum Sparx Gems: 7105 |
#81 Posted: 21:13:32 30/12/2010
But doesn't everyone get emotional? If you think Spyro is emo just because he gets emotional sometimes(he does it rarely, actually), you may aswell be calling yourself emo!
As for Krome......I don't think they would DEFINITELY do a better job than EL, but they could. Although, I do prefer DotD to TEN.

I might be, my moods change so quickly but I don't cut myself and hardly ever cry.
I'd say they would. ANB/TEN are way better than DotD so I'm guessing it would be better if Krome made it. There wouldn't be as much plotholes... |
sonicbrawler182 Platinum Sparx Gems: 7105 |
#83 Posted: 21:19:49 30/12/2010
You have mood swings because you are going through "the phase"!
There is a chance there could still be plotholes. There were a TON of plotholes in Sonic 06.... Also, if Krome made it, we risk getting "more of the same but slightly better".

Maybe, but it happened all the time, even when I was five.
You love talking 'bout Sonic, don't you? But Krome making it has a lesser chance of having plotholes because they made the two previous games. |

Yes, I do, but whenever anyone goes on about "terrible" plotholes in DotD, I feel obliged to bring up Sonic 06, for obvious reasons....

I mean, the DotD plotholes aren't even that bad, and usually concern minor, pointless details. Sonic 06, however, has one plothole that erases the possibility of any Sonic game before it even happening!

Although I do agree 06 was a shamble, again, I don't like comparing Sonic and Spyro.
Really, DotD is still full of plotholes, it's just many fans like to try and 'make up' the rest.

Some of DotD can apply to that.... But things like them aging - It can't, unless you twist it a little.
The designers themselves stated they're still meant to be kids, so there's no real way of saying it was a cocoon, unless you alter it yourself. See what I mean? Much of DotD is like that, compared to the previous games where everything tied in.
