He might of been, but what I'm saying he could of just as easily been purple! We could of had LoS without Classic Spyro ever existing, there is just less chance that we would.

For the record, Spyro was originally purple for a specific reason that had everything to do with PS1 technology, so if the classic Spyro hadn't been made when and why it was, we wouldn't have Spyro as we know it. And in the gaming markets of yesteryear, LoS would never have gotten off the ground. The whole reason it was made is because it was attached to a franchise that was deemed marketable (this is why LoS is a Spyro game at all instead of being just a dragon game).

Incidentally, I fail to see why classic fans get so much complaints for starting these flame wars when I see LoS fans lighting the match in topics more than anywhere else. As someone who was in this fandom before TEN came out, I can say honestly that it wasn't a problem before DotD was released. There were a few arguments, but we had all mostly agreed to let everyone have their own opinions and leave it at that. These days, I see a lot of young/new LoS fans (especially DotD fans) just hauling off and bashing classic fans with no provocation beforehand. And then you guys wonder why some of us are so bitter.

I have always been a huge Spyro fan, until ANB came out. For some reason, I just stopped liking Spyro all of a sudden (Come to think of it, it was around that same time a started playing Sonic games regularly). Then in the Summer I got back into him, and like him more than ever. This is the only forum of anything that I'm a member of, and even I can notice the crumbling fanbase.:/

It is really annoying. I come back into a fandom, hoping to find people to have friendly discussions about both Spyros with fellow fans, and once I jump in, everyone is arguing. Heck, someone once accused me of bigging up TLoS, but look at this guy, trying to up DotD's star rating by telling everyone to rate it a 5. This topic is a battleground waiting for troops to march in.

Sonic 2 actually paved Sonic as we know today, and Sonic 3 wasn't bad either.

It rather irks me. Before DotD, I was in the "fan of both series" camp and it was indeed possible to have a friendly discussion about both series, even with people who didn't like one or the other. Now you poor folks who like both can't even have your own topic unmolested, and neither side of the fanbase can go five minutes without someone trying to start something. It's just frustrating.

And, frankly, I miss being able to like LoS sometimes. ANB and TEN meant a lot to me for what they were, but I can't express that now anywhere because the minute I bring up any version of LoS, some creepy DotD fan is in my face (not here, necessarily; this actually happens to me off-site in my galleries on a semi-regular basis).

Sonic 2 is my favourite Sonic game ever, why the hell would I personally use that as an example?

But the point isn't which Sonic game is the best of the three, the point is that while you SHOULD have (sometime a very grudging) respect for the game that preludes the one in question, there's no reason why you should be outright thankful for it.

Well, technically, that's not true. For all we know, in some parallel universe, TLoS came first!smilie

Seriously though, even if Classic Spyro never happened, someone at Sierra could of just said:
"Hey, let's make a game about a little purple dragon called Spyro who goes on an epic quest and has to take down another purple dragon called Malefor!"

I'm not sticking up for Classic haters, as I love the Classics, but saying that it's impossible for TLoS to have existed without the existence of Classic Spyro is not true.

That is highly unlikely.

Razz, I think I know how you feel. Those DOTD fans are absolute creeps. The TLOS fans were pretty good until DOTD came out. As soon as that game came out, little kids came running into this forum, spamming everywhere with TLOS. The classics seem to be long forgotten. D:

I got called retarded once by complaining about Cynder's Skinny body and large chest and if you type in "Cynder" or "Spyro and Cynder", you would find porn there. It makes me feel icky at how many TLOS fans DRAW Cynder and themselves "doing it". I feel somewhat sorry for them, because they're in love with a bunch of pixels on T.V, and they obviously won't have a REAL woman in real life. I suppose it's mainly the Cynder fantards who creep me out. And poor Ember gets bashed for no reason.

While not all LoS fans are obnoxious, Darby, many of us have had more encounters with the ones who are than the ones who aren't. It's sad but it's true. Remember, I myself used to be a LoS fan, but my fellow fans drove me to hate it.

As for the people who draw Cynder smut...I resemble that remark, and I've been with several women, thank you. smilie However, the massive amount of Cynder porn you see today didn't exist before DotD came out (even I didn't do much of it, and very little of it was risque, before I saw the obvious fan bait that is DotD Cynder). That design in particular just seems to draw the skeevy crowd. I drew most of my risque Cynder work for amusement more than anything else, but you haven't met a truly creepy/obnoxious LoS fan until you've had a crowd of them leave disgusting/nasty/whiny comments on your art. And they don't just show up to talk on the adult stuff. I get a lot of gross comments on completely innocent Spyro art from these people, too. It's a large part of why I don't draw Cynder at all anymore, even though she used to be my favorite thing about LoS.

Dunno if I'm quoting Marx accurately or not, since I've never seen that routine in full. *shrug*

I'm an adult lesbian who sometimes draws erotica, some of it of Cynder, I am one of those folks DarkCynder_543 was talking about when she said "I feel somewhat sorry for them, because they're in love with a bunch of pixels on T.V, and they obviously won't have a REAL woman in real life". I am not, in fact, in love with Cynder (I'm in love with my spouse), and I draw smut mostly for amusement. When people want to make assumptions about "those nasty perverts who surely must be leading pathetic lives", I feel inclined to point out that we aren't all stereotypes (though many viewers of our work do live down to the negative notions about fanboys). In fact, all of the people I know who draw quality dirty art are friendly, well-adjusted people. It's the people who comment, request, and sometimes commission us who are usually the ones with the sad lives and creepy pixel obsessions.
