Chapter 6: back to Ice Shard!


For the next few weeks, Ice Shard searched for Star, yet her efforts failed. Yet she seemed to feel watched, as if her every action was being observed. Eventually she ignored it, continuing on her search. After several more weeks of searching, she decided to take a break, get back to her duties as an Ice trainer. On the way to the trainer room, she past by the purple dragon and the black dragoness she had seen the first day she had been in dragon city. The black dragoness stopped, looking strait at Ice Shard. She seems so familiar… Ice Shard thought to herself, when the Black dragoness turned completely around, walking towards her, the purple dragon following behind her.

“Hi there, I’m Cynder. You must be Ice Shard, the new Ice trainer. I’ve heard a lot about you. Its really nice to meet you. You know, you look really familiar some how, do I know you from somewhere?” Cynder said to Ice Shard, her calm, trusting attitude startled Ice Shard, for no one but the elders had acted normal since she had came.

“It’s nice to meet you too! And you look really familiar somehow too, though I’m afraid I’ve never seen you before, except for the first day I came here.” Ice Shard replied, relieved to seem to have found a new friend.

“I’m Spyro” The purple dragon spoke up, stepping forward to join the conversation.

“Nice to meet you Spyro” Ice Shard replied, dipping her head in respect.

“Why don’t you join us for lunch? We were just about to head over to the feast room” Spyro replied, Cynder nodding in agreement.

“Sure! I’d be glad to!” Ice Shard replied. They all headed out to a large, out door area, with dozens of tables, with custom chairs suitable for dragons to sit on. They sat down at a small table, laughing, telling jokes, and telling stories over cups of water, dishes of fish, and red & green energy crystals. After lunch, Cynder and Spyro told Ice Shard they were going off to do some important errands they promised the elders they would take care off. Ice Shard decided to go for a small walk alone in the forests, to her favorite stream to wash her wings and think. She swam in the river a bit, and then dried herself in the sun, making sure her horns, tail tip, and wing spikes were all clean. She was about to inspect a patch of scales she had accidently gotten mushroom dust on, when rustling came from the bushes. Quickly, she lifted up her head, trying to pin point the sound. But it wasn’t necessary, because a moment later Chill emerged from a patch of green leafy bushes, shaking off his wings and walking over to her.

“Hey Ice Shard!” Chill said to her cheerfully, sitting down next to her in the sun.

“Oh hey Chill. What’s up?” Ice Shard asked, curling her tail around her paws, her razor sharp claws slightly tilting her tail.

“oh not much” He replied, but a slight look in his eyes said something different. Ice Shard ignored it, waiting for him to continue. He coughed slightly, as if he was uncomfortable for some reason. “so, I was wondering If you’d like to come with me to me and my friend’s cave and hang out some time. I’m sure my friend would love to meet you” He replied, staring at her intensely.

His stare made her slightly uncomfortable, but she pushed the feeling aside, feeling there was nothing to worry about. “sure, when?” She replied calmly, stretching out her wings.

“um how ‘bout right now?” Chill asked, stretching his wings out as well.

“well ok sure, you just lead the way” She replied, standing up.

“Ok, this way then!” Chill replied, jumping up as well. He took off into the air, Ice Shard following just behind him. What she didn’t know, is that she was about to get herself caught in a mess that not even her elements could get her out of…
