But look at the pic differences. The Pirates have dog-like qualities, while the Apes have the faces of mandrills.

This is a ridiculous fight! Apes, dogs who cares??? They're all goons as SuperSpyroFan said, they're all enemies, and they all meet the same fate. Let's just say that whether they are dogs or apes, there are many mistakes in the designs. If they are dogs, they should have been made to look less like the apes. If they are apes, they should have been made to look more like the apes. Can we leave it at that?

EDIT: Not trying to keep the fight going, but that guidebook link says his species is dog, but in the description it says he's a pirate ape. Just wanted to point out that error.

No, they're both of Skabb.

No; Skabb never has his sword on fire. (Though he had it in purple fire.)

You can't even see Skabb's sword in either pic. I nthe gallery image the flames are from Spyro's fire fury.

Also it looks like the article was edited to read pirate dog.

The Pirates don't have the nose and body structure of an Ape, even Skabb looks more like a dog than an Ape. They are dogs, I mean look at their ears and noses closely if you still think they're apes.

Exactly. Looking at the picture they both have very different body structures. The Pirates have a more dog-like face (straight-ish snout e.t.c) while the Apes face looks longer. The Pirates also seems to have longer arms and their shoulder blades/backs arn't as bulky/big. Not to mention the ears.

IMO they are Dogs.

I think they are dogs. They have a dog's nose, dog ears, and a dog's tail. They sound different from the apes too. Plus, they just held Spyro as a prisoner to fight for their entertainment. If they were apes, they would have handed him in.

thats what i was thinking that they would hand him in to gaul but instead they held him prisoner for their own entertainment. and yes if they were apes they would more than likely have a colourful face but they dont so therefor cant be apes.

i can see a BIG diference between the two. you can tell ones an ape and ones a dog pretty clearly.
