Chapter 9

Ember mumbled something about 'worthless orange lizard' as she looked at Flame.

"You know, it's not my fault you almost got killed by a crocodile in Crocodila swamp."

Ember growled in annoyance and stomped off.

"Hey! Wait up!"

Flame followed Ember out of the cave and into the grass. The kingdom was beautiful with flowers and swaying, green grass with just a hint of yellow. Hunter ran up to teh two dragons.

"Hey, Ember, I heard what happened about the necklace."

"I'd rather not talk about it..."

"Well anyway, I just wanted to know if you needed some help?"

Ember suddenly grinned.

"Do you know how to fight?"

"You bet I can."

"Awesome, can you go into Crocodilla Swamp for me?"

"Uh... why?"

"You see, we need to see if the thief is hiding in there, can you go in and check?"

"Sure, I'll go in and see what I can find."

"Thanks a lot!"

Hunter ran off and Flame and Ember stared at each other.

"So... you think he'll be able to find something?"

Ember shook her head.

"He'll be about as helpful as dragon dung."

Ember and Flame sat in Ember's cave with a very unlikely guest.

"So you want ME to help YOU?"

"Uh... yeah."

"Hah! I HATE dragons! Why would I help?"

"Because we said please..."

Ripto sighed.

"What's in it for me?"

"We'll... um... buy you jewels?"

Flame rolled his eyes and looked away.

Spyro and Cynder flew through the clouds. Spyro looked over and saw Cynder looked upset.

"Something wrong?"

Cynder looked suprised.

"What? Oh, no, nothing's wrong. Just thinking about Ember."

"What about her?"

"I just don't think she stole it."

"Of course she did."

"I'm not sure..."

Ripto started to walk out of the cave.

"Wait! We need your help!"

Ripto shook his head and left the cave.

"So, uh, it didn't work, then?"

Ember growled and hit her head against the wall.

Chapter 11

Ember and Flame looked at each other, hoping one of them would get an idea.

"How about we go see if Bianca's made any progress?"

"Sounds good."

Ember and flame left the cave and flew over to Bianca's castle hurriedly.

"Sorry, but I'm only half way through the spell."

"We don't have that kind of time!"

"I'm working as fast as I can."

"Maybe we can help you?"

"I have everything I need... The spell just takes a long time to complete.

Ember sighed.

"Ok,"

Ember and Flame left.

It was three hours later. The two dragons sat in Flame's cave.

"How about we get some help?"

"We've already asked just about everyone in the Dragon Kingdom."

"Yeah, but maybe we have to leave the dragon kingdom?"

Ember shook her head.

"That would be stupid - where would be go?"

Flame shrugged.

It was the next day. Ember looked around but no matter where she searched she could not find Flame anywhere.

"Flame? Where are you?"

Spyro and Cynder came walking up.

"Hey Ember, what's going on?"

"Yeah, you seem more stressed than usual."

"Flame's gone!"

Chapter 12

"What do you mean 'Flame's Gone'?'

"As in 'Flame is missing and can't be found'. You'd think the legendary purple dragon would know what 'gone' means."

"That's not what I mean!"

"Listen, I don't care what you mean - I need help finding Flame!"

"If I remember correctly you still have to find that thief."

"I will! But I need to find Flame!"

"So where do you think he would go?"

"I dunno... probably somewhere we could find help."

"Like...?"

Ember shrugged.

"It's hopeless! We'll never find him or that thief!"

"Relax, we'll find him."

"It will be best if we split up."

"Good idea - I'll go and look around Crocodilla Swamp, you'll look in Dragonfly Falls, and Ember will look in the main Dragon Kingdom."

"What about Sparx?"

"He can look with me."

"Ok, and I bet Hunter and the others would be glad to help."

"Ok, that's what Sparx can do - He'll ask the others to help look."

"Sounds like a plan - we should start right away."

"Why? It's only Flame."

"Because he might be in trouble."

Ember nodded... She had never felt so desperate.
