I wouldn't say Old Spyro was boring. I enjoyed the old trilogy as much as I enjoyed the LoS trilogy.

The Old Spyro trilogy all had the same thing; go through different worlds and levels through portals, saving the residents of those worlds, and save that world they live in from a villian who threatens their lives. Still, I enjoyed the games, and played them again every once in a while when I feel bored.

And you're saying LOS isn't like that? ANB: Go through the different element themed areas saving guardians. Learn new trick. Defeat the baddy.
TEN: Go through all the dark and gloomy places defeating hoards of enemies. Pass out, lean new trick. Beat the baddy.
DotD: Defeat giant monster. Defeat hoards of enemies. Break stuff. Beat the baddy.

So basically you just go from place to place, collecting things and defeating enemies until you get to the main boss. Many games are like that really. At least old Spyro didn't get you down like LOS. Not to mention the fact that two of three LOS games were linear and the colectibles in DotD were not well hidden at all.

True, but LoS had a more interesting "storyline" learn the meaning before you go off at a tangent, what you've pointed out was actually the "plot". Plot is different to storyline. Storyline is what the game is all about, basically what the game is about and plot is how the sotryline is played out.

LoS is too cliche, and too easy.
Originals are also too easy, and the story (or there lack of) isn't anything new, but at least it was intended to be easier.

The fact they TRIED and FAILED to make LoS "epic" and "difficult" is what really gets me. Originals I can at least pop in and play, every now and then when I'm bored, for something cute and easy. That's what Spyro was meant for - Not some "Why so srs?" game. They recreated him, and in the process, the essence of Spyro the dragon was lost. The charm which attracted so many was replaced with failed heroics. The simple yet enlightening gameplay, characters, and levels, all gone.
LoS could have been good, had they made it more of a T type game, instead of E10+. It's kind of stuck in the middle of a grown up, faster paced experience, and a child's game. If they had added more action, more elements of an older aged game, it wouldn't have so much controversy.

Then again, it's like taking Mario & crew and sticking them into an online FPS. Unless you do it right, with no failure in between, and keep something the original fans will like, you're just screwing yourself. And any further attempts to fix the problem will be overshadowed by the first failure.

Who ever said they tried to make it difficult or epic? You said TLoS is cliche, and they knew this them self (no one can deny, that the plot was very generic), things are are generally cliche arnt trying to be epic.

Secondly, I think it's fairly obvious that dingodile555 knew it was opinion not fact. I wouldn't be suprised if he said there won't be a Spyro game without his following comment just so he could get someone to set him up for the line "It won't be a game it will be a piece of garbage."

This is crazy now...

I agree with cloudtail about making Spyro a T rated game. If you wanna make a kids game dark and epic, go all the way. I would have liked LOS better if it were bloodier, more violent, and Spyro were angrier and if the enemies were more vicious, ruthless and severe. Mad, I's LOVE to see a pissed off, blood-covered, vengeful young Spyro go head to head with a REAL pain loving lunatic! You know, someone who belongs in an institution, not a video game! The kinda guy/girl who could be calm one minute and fly off the handle and kill someone the next! A SADISTIC SKITSUFRENIC!

Too me, original Spyro changing to TLOS is like a character suddenly changing his/her personality. You just don't look at that character the same way again, and you want the original personality back. Just like how Cynder went from sad and emo too sassy and sarcastic.

I read the proof BTW. Even though Insomniac won't take Spyro back, there is still a chance that they will go back to the original, which was the real Spyro.

Now that is just too violent for a Spyro game, SpyroLUVA.

LoS wasn't that violent, and the trilogy was set by re-introducing the characters and the world. I mean they could add lots of things to improve the upcoming Spyro game, if it's set in the LoS universe. They could add some of the other characters we know from the old trilogy, and recreate them for the new universe.

Honestly, I preferred the E10+ Spyro. Not too dark, not too light, which works for me. I really don't think it should go to a T rating, because then that would be departing from what Spyro was even more. A kid's game.

My point was that if you are gonna mke a kid's game dark, I think you must really twist it into something horrific to make it good. Trying to be dark while still being kid friendly just doesn't seem to work for Spyro, at least not how Sierra did it. I'm not saying a kids game couldn't be good if it were in the grey area between violent and kiddish, but LOS wasn't good in that area. It was great as an all kids game, and If it must be dark, I'd like to see it get warped Amercan McGee style! Search American McGee's Alice to see what I mean.

Well, the merger is also to blame. They wanted the game to be finished around the time the merge between Activision and Sierra had happened, which was October 2008.
