Chapter 8

They continued flying for the next 2 days, and reached Warfang on the third morning. What they saw there wasn't good. The city had crumbled into ruins that looked as though they had been broken for mellenia. Dragon and mole bodies littered the ground like leaves in Autumn.
There were a few milky white dragons, about five, working their way through the battlefield, checking for any wounded survivours. They often looked at a dragon for their pulse then shook their heads. Every now and then they would find an injured warrior and take a glass vial from their necks and drop a drop into the dragon's mouth, which seemed to lessen the dragon's pain, so that other dragons could take them do the hospital on a stretcher made of fodder skin.
"What happened here?" Spyro asked the nearest white nurse dragon. A tear leaked from her eye.
"Something too terrible to imagine. The Master's forces attacked. We weren't ready, no one was. Even our lead warrior, Infinity, hadn't forseen this. She has futuresight, you know. Fate wasn't kind. We were defeated, our forces have crumbled. " She replied, turning away to help her friend with a wounded dragon. Half the dragons here were really just infants, Spyro's age before he had been encased in the time crystal.
Spyro and Cynder gathered more information the nearer the city they got. The battle had taken place last night, the lastest of many like this. One dragon, a blue gaurd female, recognised them from the Battle of Warfang those many years ago. She told them to go to Infinity, the current leader of the war. She lead them to the center of the city, a domed temple, rather like the one in Spyro's childhood, that had many flights of steps leading to it. She left them at the front door, and Cynder knocked with her tail.
A sigh was heard from within, and then welcomed them in. It was a blue dragoness, with shhimmering white horns. She had black, wave-like markings around her main horns, her forelegs and her tail. She had deep blue eyes and a marking on her head that was shaped like a sheild. She was leaning over a white dragon, a male. he had red markings, like slashes on his scales. When inspected closely, they were slashes. The dragoness and the white male were Spyro and Cynder's age.
"Ah, Spyro and Cynder. I was hoping you'd come. My name is Infinity."

Chapter 9 (Already?!)

Tears were flowing down her cheeks, and she turned to them. Being commander of the war was a heavy duty for a young dragon.
"We're here to help." Cynder said, soothingly, for Inifnity seemed to be in great pain. Cynder curled round Infinity, feeling motherly, for she knew what Infinity was feeling. Her paw brushed a cut, one that went deep into the dragoness's side.
"Yeah. You go to the hospital, that cut looks sore." Spyro told her.
"No. I can't." Infinity replied, her mind clearing and her face revealing passion, passion for revenge and a determination to win the war. "I have to look after Hakiu. He needs help. But I also need to speak with you. Will you be alright until the nurses get here?" she asked Hakiu, who was bleeding from a spear wound in his chest.
"I, uh, think so." he replied.
"Good, this conversation may decide wether or not the dragon race survives."
Infinity lead Spyro and Cynder into a chamber deep in the temple.
"Last night, as you know, we were attacked. I didn't see it coming, not even with my futuresight. I control the time element, so I know the future. But some dark magic had blurred my sight. The attackers, were shadows. Shadows of the dark. The are clouds of dark mist that take the shape of dragons, grublins and other foes. They were heavily armed, we had no chance. I fought hard, as did all warriors, yet half our divisions were slain. We are up against something big. Something worse than the dark master."

Chapter 10

Infinity saw their shocked expressions, and continued.
"You know. You saw the reminder of what happened last night. The dragons here at Warfang are the last left.
"Anyway, I've been fighting for as long as I can remember now. We need your help. Please, dragonkind needs you." she finished, turning her gaze down.
"I'll help." Cynder replied.
"Thank you." Ininfity rasped, then looked at Spyro.
"I' will do whatever it takes."
"Good. I have to return to Hakiu now." She told them, then left the room walking, then beginning to run. Cynder watched her.
"We made the right choice. I promise you." Cynder said to Spyro. She had seen the doubt in his expression when he had made the decision.

A few days later...

Cynder and Infinity had become best friends, since niether had had such a friendly childhood. Spyro was friends with Infinity too, but he had an ominous feeling in his stomach whenever he saw her, like something was wrong.
No battles had threatned the working dragons of Warfang for a week now, but the enemy must have been up to something.
A week after SPyro and Cynder's arrival, at dawn, the night stayed black. Infinity woke, her future sight had told her something was wrong. She leapt to he feet, and walked to the terece of the temple, and looked out over Warfang. The sun had risen, but was only giving off weak light. The sky was a dark, dark purple, and black figures could only just be seen floating in the distance. Purple clouds rolled endlessly on, oblivious to the world below.
"No. No." Infinity shook her head. A gaurd dragon was patrolling the streets, only noticing what he had been intructed to. Infinity shouted to him. "GATHER EVERY DRAGON WHO CAN FIGHT. WE NEED THEM. A war is on the horizon..."

Chapter 11

The Warfang army massed at the city gates. Some dragons wore armour, but few. Hakui, Spyro, Cynder and Infinity stood at the head, looking at the also massing army of darkness. The gates lay open, as the locks had been broken may battles before.
Infinity sucked in a great breath, anticipating the battle.
"ATTACK!" She screamed, and thousands of dragons swarmed to fight the darkness. Spyro leaped onto one in a grubblin form, biting at its throat. Cynder tackled a darkness in the shape of wyvern, that was about as big as one of the Guardians. She blasted it with acid, then took flight and rammed its back. Spyro came to join her as they meeleed it.
Infinity had separted a darkness in a dragon form to fight. She breathed blue flames onto it, which seemed to make it move it slowmotion. She then attacked physically.
The battle lasted for hours, but the Dark Army was slowly retreating. Spyro and CYnder had finished off the Wyvern, and were battling a thin, elf shaped darkness. Then, as Spyro went in for the kill, it dissapeared in a poof of air. It had teleported to the Dark Army, which was regrouping in retreat. 95% of the Dragon Army had also flown back to Warfang. The sky began to turn blue again, the clouds turning back to a fluffy white.
Dragon bodies were dotting the horizon once again, but fewer this time.
Hakui was standing next to a lump in the desert, silent tears rolling down his face.
