A week has past since he had a quiet sleep. Throughout the week, Ruuko had been having the same dream over and over again. Ruuko was glad that today was the day they would travel to the mountain off Malefor. It would get the dream out off his mind for months to come. Ruuko shook himself and padded out off the castle. The sunlight welcomed him like always, blazing onto his scales and making him feel worm. Ruuko had gotten the hang off organizing apes to hunt and bats to search the territory for the purple dragon. A noble, senior death hound, had died off a chest infection not that long ago. Ruuko didn't really know him, but he new he was respected by all the beast. If Rockheart would off died, then he would off taken his place even though he was old. Also, Ruuko had made a friend called Forest. She is a female death hound. It only took him a couple off sunrises for him to realize that Forest likes him more then normal. Ruuko had to admit, she was the prettiest death hound out off all the females in the group, and she was the nicest.

Darn, only two people are reading my storys. Well, I guess it is better then nothing.

"Ruuko! Were leaving! Come now now other wise you will be left behind!"
It was Rockheart's voice, calling to him from only a couple off tail lengths away.
"Okay, there's not need to shout." Ruuko sighed. Even though he found himself a new friend, he found it deficult to leave the fortress. Everyday, he always thought this was his home, and he would never leave it. But the gathering that happened a weak ago had proved how wrong he was. Everyday, at least three apes kept on asking him what was wrong. He found it annoying, but he couldn't blame them. He always found himself looking like something was on his mind. He didn't realize Forest padding up to him, and he flinched under her worried gaze.
"Is everything alright?" Forest asked. Her voice sounded carm and caring, but her eyes gave away how worried she was. "You've been looking ill lately. Do you need some more rest? I could ask Rockheart if we could travel a little later. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. After all, Gaul is always yawning every time he takes a step. And I could catch you a fresh sparrow. Those birds are always so filling and jucy!" Forest swiped her tongue over her jaws as if she had just swallowed a juicy moursal.
"Err... No thanks Forest. I'm fine." Ruuko grunted. As much as he liked the idea, he just wanted to get this over and done with. He had a good sleep, all he needs now is to catch himself some prey to give him strength for the journey. But he new he didn't have that much time. Noing Gaul, he would only give Ruuko a couple off minuets to hunt.
"Can you ask Gaul if he could give me some time to hunt? I need some strength if I would to go on this journey" Ruuko asked Forest. He hopped his eyes didn't show too much pleading in them. He didn't want to sound like a mouse begging not to be eaten. He sat down and rested his head on his paws as he watched Forest pad up to Gaul, who was only standing a couple off wing lengths ahead.
If only Cynder was here.... Ruuko thought under his breath. He sank his head lower to his paws in embarrassment as he felt Gaul's hot stare rest on him. It only took a couple off heartbeats until Forest came charging back. Ruuko stood up, shaking the dust off his scales.
"What did he say?" Ruuko asked.
"He said we have one more day" Forest replied. She lifted her head high, she couldn't resist letting out a yowl off triumph. She lowered her voice as an ape spat at her, telling her to keep quiet.
"What!?" Ruuko made sure his voice was low. "A whole day? That's more then enough Forest! I only wanted at least ten minuets to hunt, not a whole day! I could catch seventeen thousand dears in that length off time!"
Forest backed away a little, obviously not expecting this to happen. Her eyes narrowed until they were tinny slits. She lowered her head and then let out some strange whimpering. Was she having some kind off a fit?

CHAPTER 4:

Alarmed, Ruuko took a step foreword, trying to show the regretfulness in his eyes. The last thing he wanted was to upset his new friend.
"Look, I didn't mean… I-I'm sorry...." Ruuko didn't know what to say. He never had to apologize to anyone before.
"Are you kidding? You sure have alot off courage to say exactly what you think!" Forest laughed suddenly, lifting up her head. Her eyes were shinning.
Ruuko was shocked. He realized that she wasn't upset, but she was laughing! He wanted to protest, but hold his tongue. He didn't want to upset her for real. He let out a sigh as Forest continued to speak.
"Wo-wo-wo...." Forest laughed. It took her at least three heartbeats for her to setal down. "I admit, that was more then enough time. You should off seen your face!"
Ruuko new that Forest was a very spirited, young death hound. Not even her own father yelling at her face could make her sad, or angry. And he new she wasn't teasing him, but was only playing.
"Anyway,” Forest shock herself, then continued on yapping, “I asked for only six minuets, but then Gaul suggested that we should have the whole day to hunt. And I think I know the reason. He looked so tired that even a new born bat could nock him off his paws!"
Ruuko new he was lucky to have such a death hound as a friend. Getting up, Ruuko padded up to a large opened space. Forest followed him her eyes still shinning with latter. As he sat down, the rest off the crowd gathered swiftly around him, waiting for his orders.

Ruuko only just started sending out beats to hunt and beats to look around the territory yesterday. He was lucky that all the apes were there at the time, but now that some off the apes are gone to hunt for themselves, Ruuko had few full fed beats to do there jutes. Ever since he took Cynder's place, he had been watching Rockheart organizing the beats. Back then, it seemed easy, but now that he was in Rockheart's paws, he realized it was harder then he expected.
“Well Ruuko? What do you want us to do now?” A large, wise bat whispered to him. Ruuko looked around the clearing, scanning every beast’s faces. Most off them were apes, Ruuko realized.
“Ah, yes. You will take Raggedfur, Mudear and Brokentooth. Head towards the stream and see what you can find there” Ruuko whispered back to the bat. Alarm pricked through his tail when he realized that the beast was looking at him oddly.
“Anything wrong?” Ruuko asked, his wings twitching.
“Nothing much. It’s just that Brockentooth was planning on practicing his battle moves. You said that he could go ahead and practice. Remember?” The bat’s wings flapped in amusement.
“Yes,” A death hound forced his way through the crowd and stood face to face with Ruuko. One off his teeth was broken, leaving only a shared off white bone left. “What happened to practicing my battle moves? Surely you haven’t changed your mind, have you?”

Lol, I started reading my first story, and I thought "Jeez, how cr@p is this?!". When I read this one, I realized that it is much better. It doesn't get on with it so quickly, it describes things more, and I doesn't have that much spelling mistakes (thanks to Firefox). No wounder people weren't reading my story, well, there not reading it now because the first one was cr@p... Shows how much I've improven (sp?).

“Not at all, Brokentooth! You may go on and practice them now if you wish. Sorry about that. Sharpstorm,” Ruuko turned to look at the senor bat. “You may go with just Mudear and Raggedfur”
Sharpstorm nodded and took out his group off apes to hunt along the river bank.
“I hope they catch enough prey for us to eat. And lets hope that selfish Mudear doesn’t eat all the prey he finds!” Forest spat.
“Not while Sharpstorm is in charged” Ruuko pointed out. Forest snorted. Ruuko new that Forest was Mudear’s enemy.
“Spottedfur, you will be in charge off another hunting party. You may choose were ever you want to lead your warriors too. You will take Smoky, Scar and Glitternose with you”
Spottedfur, Smoky, Scar and Glitternose nodded.

“Now, on with the searching patrols. Darkfang, you may lead it. I’m sure you are tired off guarding the gates. You too, Blacktooth”
Darkfang and Blacktooth both jolted up there heads. They had been guarding the entrance ever since they couldn’t defeat the purple dragon. Gaul had ordered Cynder too make sure they stay on guard juty. Gaul hadn’t told Ruuko about this, and he assumed Gaul had forgotten. Ruuko couldn’t help feeling a bit off sympathy for them. He didn’t like the thought off guarding the entrance for the rest off his life. If Gaul would ask him about this, then he would just say that he didn’t know.
“Wow, thanks Ruuko!” Blacktooth beamed. Darkfang was twitching all over, as if he wanted to do the patrol already.
“Take Glitternose and Coal with you” Ruuko realized that he was just picking out random names for the jobs. He shock his head when he realized he did something wrong, again.
“Err, you just assigned Glitternose for two patrols. Do you expect him to split into two?” The loud snear came from Bark. Ruuko bit back what he was going to say. He didn’t like how Bark was treating him lately. Doesn’t he know how too show respect? Instead, Ruuko just ignored the snear in his voice. He was about to reply to him when Forest spoke loudly.
“Glitternose, you should off been helping Ruuko by saying that he called your name out twice! As soon as he said your name, that’s when you could off spoke up! Instead off backing away in the corner all the time, why not go and help Ruuko out? You useless lump off fur! Ruuko is-"
“That’s enough Forest!” Ruuko sighed. “It was just a small mistake, there is no reason to yell at Glitternose. He didn’t do anything wrong. Glitternose,” Ruuko turned back to the ape, who was trying not to catch Forest’s glare. “Sorry about that, you may just go on the hunting patrol with Smoky” Ruuko noticed Glitternose giving him a cold stare. Ruuko couldn’t resit twitching his tail.
Oh for dragon’s sake! It was a small mistake!
“Coal, Blacktoth, Darkfang will be on the search patrol. Blaze and Shadow, you will go with them. For now on, until the Purple dragon is dealt with, there will be extra beast for the searching patrol. Incase the purple dragon shows up around our fortress, we need extra beast to attack him. After all, he did defeat Cynder” Ruuko had to choke out the last words. He tried to get his sister out off his mind, but he couldn’t. She meant too much to him.

I think it was Darkfang and Blacktooth that had to guard the gates. But I can't be bothered to check. xD

The warriors who were departing, nodded their heads politely before padding towards the entrance of the fortress. Ruuko took one last glimpse at them, suddenly remembering Bluefur and Sparrowheart. He began to wonder how they were doing. He would off loved to see them both practicing their battle moves, but he doesn't know were they would be. For all he new, they could be running happily through the forest with the sun beaming down on there scales. Or they could be chasing after rabbits, there tails streaming behind them. Ruuko’s mouth watered at the thought off sinking his sharp fangs in bare flesh, but he shock the image away violently. Ruuko turned his head towards the entrance, taking a swift glance at the heard before he did so.
"You may all do whatever you like. As long as you don't bug Gaul off course" Ruuko twitched his tail to show he had dismissed them. The rest off the heard bowed their heads in farewell before exiting the castle.
Ruuko looked up at the ceiling for a couple off heartbeats before he too, padded towards the entrance.

Wow, now that chapter was a big improvement.

CHAPTER 5:

Ruuko crouched down in the extended grass. The trees waved softly around him as the wind passed by. Only a couple off minuets had passed since he had trotted out off the castle. Wing lengths in front off him stood a squirrel, which was munching happily on a blackberry, not knowing the danger it is going to face in a moment. Ruuko crouched down lower as he creped up softly towards the miniature creature, feeling the breeze ruffling his tail blade. The leaves shimmered, as if they were warning the squirrel to run.
Almost there… Now!
Ruuko was about to spring swiftly when he drank in the musky smell off a death hound. Ruuko struggled to growl in frustration as he heard it crunching on pine needles and twigs. Ignoring the clumsy creature, he twisted back to the squirrel, but it was gone. Ruuko jumped up in surprise.
That clumsy mutt! He frightened off the prey with his plump feet!
In a couple off heartbeats, a death hound stalked into the clearing. Ruuko realized at once it was Forest. Sighing, Ruuko padded up to her, shaking his wing in greeting.
“You frightened off a squirrel” Ruuko muttered. “You need to be more cautious.” He struggled to keep carm.
Forest's eyes widened in shock as if she spotted the purple creeping up behind him.
“Oh! I apologize! I never thought there was a squirrel close by!” Forest backed away a little, depression making the fur on her shimmering legs rise.
“It’s alright. I’m positive there is plenty off squirrels around anyway. Besides,” Ruuko added, licking his paw like a feline “that squirrel was an old one, it was going to be tough and stringy anyway” Ruuko chocked out the last words. He didn’t like lying to Forest. That squirrel was young. He new it was going to be the most juiciest prey he had ever tasted, but he didn’t want to mention that to Forest encase she got disappointed. The fur on her legs softened a little, but not fully.
“But still. It was prey wasn’t it? And I frightened it off. That squirrel could off given you a full stomach for at least a whole day! Did you see how fat it was?” Forest’s eyes softened. Ruuko realized that saying it was an old piece off dung didn’t help. Forest new as much as him that even a small pawful off grain could prevent a fully grown ape from starving.
“So, why did you come here anyway?” Ruuko decided to change the subject.
“Oh! Yeah, that! Brokentooth asked me if I would like to watch his training! He told me to come and get you too! What an opportunity!” Without waiting for a reply, Forest shoot through the undergrowth like the speed off light, her back paws kicking up dust behind her.
Ruuko hesitated before following her into the bushes, hard on his paws, Ruuko had to use all off his speed to catch up to Forest. Death hounds were the fastest creatures, they could run around the world in at least one day. Ruuko new that Forest was only jogging, saving her energy for what was coming ahead. He began to wounder why she wasn't called Runningbreeze or Swiftlegs. It would suit her more then Forest. To him, a Forest is a dark, spooky place full off tall trees that lome over even the largest dragon. She was the operset to a Forest, she was like fire and ice. Fire for the bravery and never bursting into tears, she was strong and very loyal. And ice because off her softness. She would never harm a fly even though she was raised to course destruction. Because off this, Forest wasn't one off Gaul's favorites, but she still kept her head high, determined to earn his trust some day.

"Okay, attack me!" Vine hissed.
Ruuko and Forset had arrived at the training area. Vine was a was a female ape and was with Brokentooth at the training area. Brokentooth explained that she decided to help him with his training, and she caught a rabbit on the way. Ruuko had caught a young dear and Forest caught a rat while they were waiting for Brokentooth and Vine to get ready.
In the clearing, Brokentooth was crouching low on the soft sand, ready to spring. A couple off wing lengths in front off him, stood Vine, who was scraping the ground softly with her legs, wanting to get this over and done with. Ruuko was sitting not that far away from the death hound and ape, with Forest sitting down next to him.
Brokentooth crawled around Vine, trying lose her concentration. Every five heart beats, he turned around an crawled the other way. Vine kept her eyes fixed on him, waiting for him to strike. Forest whispered something in Ruuko's ear, but he was too keen on the battle to listen.
At last, Broken tooth leaped into the air, his claws extended. Ruuko was surprise at his speed. Vine shoot out off the way just in time, but Brokentooth managed get his claws caught in her side. Losing balance, Vine fell over clumsily. Scrambling up to her paws, Vine swiped a paw at Brokentooth. A speck off ruby red blood dropped to the floor were she was standing. Brokentooth pounced again, this time, Vine made sure she got out off the way. She leaped to the side, stretching her back legs so Brokentooth won't pounce to the other side without a scratch. But Brokentooth was ready for that trick. He twisted over Vine's hind legs, her claws only scraping the tip off his muzzle. Brokentooth reached out his claws and slashed at her belly. Vine let out a cry off terror, as a gush of blood hit the ground. As they landed, they both skidded in the dust, nearly slipping over there own blood. Brokentooth spat at her, showing his fangs. Vine glared at him, telling him that she wanted to make the next move.
"Don't kill yourselves out there!" Ruuko heard Forest call from next to him. Ruuko saw Brokentooth's ears twitch, while Vine just gave her a swift glance. Ruuko tensed, wondering what was going to happen next.

BTW, when I put ******* on, it means that it is kind off a new chapter, but not really. And no, I'm not swearing!

Without hisitation, Vine stalked around Brokentooth, her arms stiff as stone. Her gaze were fixed on Brokentooth's back. In a couple off heartbeats, that seemed like months, Vine threw herself into the air with all her might. Her front paws out stretched. With that amount off speed, Ruuko thought Brokentooth would get crushed by her powerful paws. But he was wrong. Brokentooth stood up on his hind legs, a swift tinny smile washing over his face. As Vine landed hard on her paws, with sand spinning up in all directions, Brokentooth pushed her away with his front paws. Vine leaped foreword as soon as she landed. Ruuko spat in annoyance as a patch off sand blew into his face. He heard Forest spitting out grits off sand next to him. Ruuko wiped his eyes with his tail blade before he kept his gaze fixed on the fight again. Brokentooth leaped back in shock, but it was too late. Claws swiped his side, leaving a scare for him to remember this very fight. Brokentooth growled as blood began to slide down his fur. Letting out a roar filled with fury, he swiped blindly at Vine, desperate to give her a scar on her face. Vine dodged calmly. Ruuko new as well as Vine that Brokentooth was starting to lose control. Gathering all off his energy in his right paw, Brokentooth swung his paw at Vine with blinding speed, and a claw swiped slowly across Vine's left hind leg. She screeched in fury, and before Brokentooth could tuck his paw back in, Vine grabbed it and tangled her paws with his, flipping him over. Ruuko new that if this battle continued, they could end up losing alot off blood, and alot off it has already spatted on the ground, staining the grass red. But he didn't want to interrupt a fight like this. If he would to take so much as a sniff at them, he would get his tail clawed off. Another whisper coming from Forest disturbed his thoughts. He was about to reply when a stick began to tremble from behind him. Ruuko twisted around, but stick stood still, not trembling anymore. The only noise he could hear was a roar coming off Brokentooth. Wanting to know what was going on, Ruuko spun his head back around to find Brokentooth lying in the sand, with Vine standing on top off him, who was letting out a cry off triumph,

This is were the action really begins (should off said this a while back lol).

"You can get off me you great lump!" Brokentooth spat out a mouthful off grit. Ruuko caught his eye quickly, and saw fire blazing in them with a tiny spark off depression and Ruuko began to wounder why he was upset.
Vine is one off the best fighters in the group! He didn't expect to defeat her, did he?
Ruuko wanted to catch his eye again to find out more, but he didn't dare. Instead, he trotted over to him. Forest stood were she was, her eyes glazing up at a cloud in a shape off a Swallow's tail.
"That was some excellent fighting, Brokentooth." Ruuko praised the death hound who was bubbling with rage.
Brokentooth didn't respond to his praise and Ruuko felt disappointed.
"Ignore him, Ruuko" Vine whispered in his ear loudly. Ruuko jumped up in surprise, he couldn't believe he didn't hear her stalking up from behind him.
"He wouldn't be happy if he caught an eagle for Gaul to eat" Vine added, a hint off anger bursting through her voice. Brokentooth spat before he curled up in front off a pine tree, his back to Vine.
"Your right there, but he wanted to show me how well he was doing. I think even you would get upset if you would to get beaten in a fight when your getting assessed." Ruuko pointed out.
Vine snorted then padded towards the castle, snarling at Brokentooth.
Ruuko watched her go until he heard a bush behind him beginning to rattle. He turned around in surprise. It was shaking to much to be the wind rustling the tips. In the corner off his eye, he saw Forest stalking towards it. Ruuko slashed his tail, telling her to stay were she was. Forest nodded, but she couldn't stop her ears from twitching. Ruuko ignored her ears and stalked towards the bush, his heart pounding. He began to wounder if it would burst out off his chest. It beated faster as he crawled closer to the bush until he was standing in front off it. Letting out a silent sigh and flexing his claws, Ruuko sprang into the undergrowth, his tail sticking out off it. He stopped himself just in time when he realized it was Sparrowheart and Bluefur.
