I don't think that a belief should be judged on an extreme few.

That woman doesn't even have anything to do with gender identity. I do know feminazis also like to lump genderluid or nonbinary into honorary women just because they look kinda close, it's an even bigger issue.

The brain is crazy and can probably have crazy amounts of set beliefs. Just don't make gender the new sparkledog that'll just damage identity for people with actual doubts.

Genders don't really exist in any concrete manner. What's real is our "biological gender" (sex). Anything else is derived from our hormonal activity and social cognition.

As I've said before about this same subject, I think it's important for people to remember that human beings aren't "meant" to be born one way or another. We simply are.
However, it's equally important to remember that gender dysphoria isn't something to be elevated, or held in high esteem either. It's a condition, and the way it's constantly being brought up in popular culture just divides opinions and creates controversy.

In the end trans people are just people; Good people, bad people, not always right and not always wrong. Not everyone has to accept them, but neither should everyone hate them.

I've always called gender and sex the same thing. I didn't actually know there was a difference ("difference") until a few months ago, when I explored the deep dark parts of Tumblr. I've been told there are more than two genders, but I don't understand them. I can define them, but I don't understand how people can feel that way. It's not like I'm going to go out of my way to tell people their gender doesn't exist though. If someone identified as something like gender fluid, it's their life, it doesn't affect me, so I'm not gonna bother being a dick about it. I don't tend to share this opinion about ever, unless these topics come up.

Also I wonder who out of the "there are only two genders" are Christians.

Probably most of them because I was raised Christian and all my life I was pretty much told "there are only males and females, anyone who believe otherwise are sinners" although thats pretty much how it was with anything in Christianity if not all religions.

Here's my two cents:

I believe transgender and some other variations are legitimate due to errors in brain chemicals. The others (neo-pronoun identifying ones) are debatable.

BUT....

It's very, very, very, very, VERY rare to see a "real" adult (someone 30+ years old) who's a gender nonconformist. It's almost always teenagers and twentysomethings.

Therefore, I can't help but think that for most people, it's a phase. Youthful rebellion takes many forms, and it varies depending upon conditions of each generation.

Most of our parents or grandparents were probably part of the Flower Child movement in the 1960s and early 70s. How often noawadays do you see 40-60 year olds wearing filthy tyedyed clothes, protesting every war, and smoking pot in public? (Rather shoddy comparison, I know, but I can't really think of anything else).

That being said, I don't think we should repress it.....As long as they don't try to bash cisgender people.

While the Bible itself doesn't mention anything on the subject (because back then, it was completely unthought of), the Catholic Church traditionally taught that to go against what God created you as (i.e. your biological sex) would be to defy God Himself, and most Protestant denominations seem to agree.

Welllll~
I believe there are only two genders. You're male, or you're female.
I do believe that the whole transgender thing is legit though. That's... Gender dysphoria, I believe? They weren't born in the right body, simple as that.
Now, some may argue that, saying "oh, well do you believe those idiots who say they're wolves and dragons are actual wolves and dragons? THEY WEREN'T BORN IN THE RIGHT BODY!"
And to that argument, I say: **** you, that's an entirely different subject!
You cannot be born a human with the mind of a wolf or a dragon, or anything other than a human. Because you're a human. With a human body. With the brain of a human.
You can, however, have the mind of the opposite gender. That's gender dysphoria, which is caused by something I forget.
I don't claim to be an expert on these things, but that's what I think :/

Bingo.

I think what makes discussions about gender so conflicting is the fact that we all seem to "feel" gender in different ways. Like, I don't even know what it means to "feel masculine" or "feel feminine". But for other people it's a very strong feeling.

What's interesting to me is that while some people say that "tumblr started making all these genders up out of nowhere", in other cultures there are actually other "genders" that would be considered "non-binary" in western society, i.e. Fa'afafine in Samoan society

I think that the problem arises where people start to assign traits and labels on people based on their sex. The ideals of "treat everyone the same" are being enforced everywhere you look yet somehow if you're born with a vagina you're bought pink clothes and dresses and soft toys at a young age purely based on your biology. Imagine if everybody were to be treated with equal respect and given the same opportunities all throughout their lives without attention being brought to their genitalia. Would it really matter if they were a "boy" or "girl"? I just think that the whole "two genders only" thing is a social construct in itself and if it were never enforced in the first place then nobody would really care. People always say things like "how do you know you feel masculine though? what does it mean to feel like a boy?" and it's pretty confusing for some people because genders aren't really solid things, they're ideals and associations based on biology/feelings. I don't really think there's a right answer. Like "male" is just a word. It's meant to refer to genitalia and that's it. I think "gender" is beginning to refer to something different to everybody. What does it mean if I'm a girl? Does it mean I act a certain way and want certain things? Does it fit me into one category? Does it mean I'm like every other girl? Isn't that rather narrow-minded? Why should my sex be referred to on a daily basis when it's basically completely irrelevant? Do u catch my drift or am i just making no sense at all

There are obviously cultural things, but I mean actual genders made up on the spot so you're "minority of a minority", and thus special. Like some people that identify as space, witch, dragon (but are totally not otherkin and probably have prejudice against furries). Worse than a phase, the whole tumblr culture of never criticize anybody ever just pats them in the head and tells them it's fine to make light of gender dysphoria just to feel like a special snowflake(and decrying people who are much more mature but do other " problematic" things).

I can't disagree with that. Some people take advantage of those actually exploring their identity just to feel special. I've actually seen someone classify themselves as "softgender", whatever that means.
