Okay, so I don't have Dimensions yet, but if I can still give my opinions on it: It looks like a good game based on what I've seen so far. Really, I think all the LEGO games are pretty good. It also looks like they incorporated the idea of vehicles better than Superchargers, in my opinion. I think a hundred bucks is a little steep, but hey, LEGOs in general are pretty expensive...

My only worry so far is that it's a Toys to Life game that... really doesn't need to be a Toys to Life game. I mean, the previous LEGO games had in-game rosters of like hundreds of characters, so why do we need to buy physical minifigures for this game? Because it's a crossover? There are plenty of games that are crossovers that don't need figures sold separately. And it also doesn't help that the LEGO Marvel Avengers game coming out in a few months ISN'T Toys to Life.

So... In terms of being a game, I'd say LEGO Dimensions will probably be better... But in terms of being a Toys to Life game, Superchargers trumps.

As someone with LD, it IS a typical LEgo game, but with physical characters instead of unlocking for free.

Needs MArvel characters though...

I'll just throw my opinion in here.
When I first saw Lego Dimensions I immediately said "No". I already spend tons of money on Skylanders and won't stop before the series stops. I was dumb enough to fall for DI, but didn't spend too much on it. I only bought the Originals and no, I didn't buy DI 3.0 because I just don't care enough about Star Wars and the Originals are nothing special either. However LD is, as everyone said, too expensive. 100 bucks for a Starter Pack and 15-25 bucks for a few Lego pieces, which I would loose anyway. I started watching a LP, but I just couldn't watch any further after the Ninjago world. The gameplay is extremely boring and there's too many bossfights. You can't do much and the figures aren't worth the money. The overworlds are also very small and you can't do much either. The LPer himself said that he's bored by the game and just plays it for the sake of his fans. The game just tries to gain popularity with the different franchises it has, even though it has horrible gameplay.
Skylanders on the other hand, has enjoyable gameplay which changes with every chapter. It has unique and remarkable characters, which are also unique on their own. It was the first toys-to-life franchise and it's most likely going to be the last. The only reason why the other franchises are so popular, is because Disney and Lego are big names, while Activision, TFB & VV aren't that well known.
Overall, Lego Dimensions' recipe to succes is their general popularity, which fools people into spending fortunes of money on their productes, even though the game itself has boring gameplay which gets bland very quick.
Skylanders has enjoyable gameplay, characters and an acceptable price, but due to it's rather small publishers, it doesn't get much attention and is often underrated.

Having already tried the three franchises I can gladly say I agree with you. Skylanders still has the best gameplay and level design IMO.

You really summed up my feelings about the game. I really really like it but it's not amazing, I have a lot of problems with it. I haven't beaten it yet, I'm up to the Scooby Doo level and plan to beat it, but I'm not sure I'm gonna try to beat the game because I just get SO BORED of it so quickly. To me it was a worth while purchase, but not the best worthwhile one.
