-Too short levels
-They forgot to jam pack every possible open area with enemies. (Seriously sometimes there are wide open spaces and no enemies. The Titan level didn't even have any enemies!)
That's it. I'm not gonna rag on the games lack of content mainly because I believe the game shouldn't need extra content to be a good game, and this game has very little (All end game is played on the same 6 racetracks or slightly altered versions of pre-existing levels)

I'm just warning you all: if you keep trashing the game on a forum thread FILLED with fans, I'll be left with no choice but to report you for flame baiting... You can do it ONCE, and you can do it in the right places (like here) but if you make posts like GM78's all over the place in random topics on this forum; I will see it as trying to pick fights and intentionally trying to anger users...
Ps: GameMaster78/CountMoneyBone: there's a time AND A PLACE for everything... If I catch you trashing the game ANYWHERE but on this or any similar topic, there will likely be quite a few posts deleted or edited by moderators....

How are people complaining about the levels being "too short"?

Most of the levels we've played are at least an hour, if not longer. They're far longer than in Trap Team.

I how they're trying to expand the Skylander story with filler in between games, but I don't like that there isn't any recap with the realization that everyone might not want to play catch-up with books and stuff.

I hate the vehicles and racing in general. I hate the whole gimmick. I hate that there are non-original, tired, old, lame characters being introduced (see Bowser and Donkey Kong - I didn't even like these characters when I was a kid in the 80s with a brand new NES). I hate the shoulder buttons going away as alternates (you couldn't put those functions on the dpad or something? Or have them only be replaced while in the academy? Those buttons are required for some of the past characters' multi-button combos). I hate the magic items and traps being worthless. I hate the land vehicle segments being required in the levels. I hate that some of my favorite characters had their gameplay wrecked again. I hate, hate, HATE that there is no Battle Arena or KDC. I hate that I bought the game.

Let's see... oh, woops, that's right around 100% complaining!

Um, I like the graphics, the new UI elements, the voice-acting, the soundtrack, and the fact that you can use the Trap Team portal since it's way better.

I can go through a level (No Sea/Sky vehicle zone) in a bit under 30 minutes and there are far less levels in this game than Trap Team
Not to mention the shortness of Battle Brawl and Ridepocalypse

The problem with Battlebrawl Arena and Ridepocalypse aren't even their purpose too. Three waves might sound like a good number from afar but even on nightmare it's just a sorry number of enemies. If they were 7 or 10(with proper food breaks) they could've easily made both levels the length of the others, but on Rideapocalypse's case I could see that making people even more pissed off.

Those guys have more then just a year between installments to figure that out. These guys a bit more on a time crunch. All things to be taken into account.

Pretty much,Earth-Dragon. David said he 'works in more than that [story]', but he's still going to be one of the few that in the super short development schedule to have extra time to expand on the lore; and if IDW agreed to do canon comics,he probably took the opportunity. I still think that even a random NPC in the academy could've been given a summary of Rift into Overdrive to help out new players,though,most people don't know the comics even exist.

I honestly don't know how they could not include brawl content for after game experience and NOT get any backlash for that. That's just too obvious. I was worried that we wouldn't have PvP online or even PvP, but never in a million years did I think there wouldn't be "any" brawls outside of story.

Well, except for how terrible the toy aspect has been handled this year...

- Mandatory Land sections which seriously break the flow of the levels.
- Old characters seriously ruined under certain aspects (haven't experienced that in TrapmTeam).

Maybe also Arenas being gone... But...
If there truly is a Portal Master power which let's you switch freely between your Skylanders' paths
then I'll probably have all the replayability I want. smilie

Other than that I think balance is one of the strongest factors of this game.
I finished upgrading my Dive-Clops while playing Ancient Vault while my Snap Shot was maxed just after about three or four Chapters.
Very well done V.V.. smilie

And yes, Kaos' escape should have been explained by the game as well maybe simply as a Story Scroll.
It's not a minor detail by any mean.
Just like it's not TfB's fault if traps don't work in this game like they used to... That's plain whining for the sake of it.

Drek, if you are at the Academy you can switch your powers around as you see fit. I can see that being a "prep" for replaying some levels for specific objectives. I'm wondering how stacking "Gold" or "XP" boosts will do. I only have 2 levels to go and I've only just now upgraded one skylaner and one vehicle fully. I'm not playing Nightmare though...I want to just enjoy the levels and the story first time though.

Seriously? I mean, I understand your frustration with the Count, but I mean it's okay for them to talk negatively about the game, or "hate" on it. I've seen you post like that around here and this is a fan site, they can freely express their feelings about the game, nobody's trying to pick a fight, don't look at it that way.

I don't think we are talking about the same function.
I know you can switch your Portal Master's powers when talking to Eon at the Academy (and frankly I didn't thought that would have been possible, it's actually a nice feature) but I'm talking about something which can be done after unlocking one of those powers.

A really advanced Portal Master rank apparently gives you the possibility to switch all your Skylanders' paths like you can already do with reposes.
I personally think it may add huge replayability since it will motivate you to replay as all your old characters to try out their other path and see which one is better without having to reset the Skylander.

I heard about that...so we're talking about original release characters, like even Series 1 from SSA? So basically no one is excluded?

If so, I'll definitely switch paths and make sure both paths have purchases made for the flexibility.

Apparently yes.

I wonder what will happen in other games.
Old ones will probably stick with the path you are currently on but maybe Skylanders 6 will actually keep this feature.

For me it's a bad thing. It makes the levels feel tedious and boring. SG and STT had perfect level length and SSF was to long and boring. same with SSC.

I never said that everyone is 100% positive, but trashing a game in a place built for its fans is picking a fight, unintentionally or not... There is a place for everything... If you don't have anything nice to say, than say those things on THIS topic... If you're going to trash the game on every topic you see like GM78 or Moneybone, then I WILL report you for Flame-Baiting...
And note that the only game I trashed here was SWAP Force, which 1. Had it coming, 2. Needs to be taken down a peg or two, and 3. was trashed on a board for fans of Superchargers, not one for fans of SWAP Force... smilie it's only crossing a line when you target someone specifically or try to bait as many people as possible. I wasn't targeting anyone; and if I wanted to attempt to bait as many SWAP Force Fans as possible, I'd post said comment IN SWAP Force's thread!

People are complaining about trigger-button acceleration, but they did that so it's easier to hold the secondary attack button at the same time. For example having acceleration mapped to a face button would make it way harder for me to charge up a bullet bill in the clown cruiser whilst accelerating, which is really useful in Nightmare missions.

This is my place to tell you it's not your job to curtail free thinking. As long as it's done civilly, I think everyone here can communicate and defend their positions by not becoming "offended" like so many like to do these days. It's a game...... Nuff said.

Another thing I didn't like is how there is no difference in playing as different characters while inside a vehicle.

They could have at least coded elemental attacks similar to the bonuses the traps give you.
That's why I always thought a gimmick like this wouldn't have worked well with this series... Where is the uniqueness of my 116 Skylanders...?

Don't get me wrong, they did do a marvelous work implementing vehicles but... Yeah, using them really makes me forget I'm playing a Skylanders game...

My dislikes -

- no adventure packs
- game wasn't very long
- only land racing was fun, and it was no Mario Kart
- forced land sections in every level except two
- said forced land sections played the same except for one time
- boss fights weren't well thought out
- said boss fights forced the vehicle gimmick on you, leading to tediousness
- all content outside of a couple of daily quests force the gimmick on you (tedious)
- skylanders were placed on the back burner in lue of vehicle gameplay
- magic items became magic trash that costed 25 bucks to obtain in the past
- little to no exploration in levels
- all but two levels required vehicle gameplay
- randomized items in level chests

My likes -

- Skylanders tutor should be a staple in all future Skylanders games
- all characters can get upwards of 35 additional speed without the need of goofy looking hats
- with 35 speed, there is no such thing as a slow Skylander and slow Skylanders aren't fun to play as, despite spending 10-15 bucks on them.

It's just sad that with 35 speed for all Skylanders, you barely get to use them, since vehicle gameplay is so prevailent, that you're barely on foot for 5-10 minutes before you're forced to drive a vehicle.

These three likes should be applied to all future games, and hopefully on foot gameplay makes a return in the next game, along with exploration.

You bring up an amazing point. The levels in this game are WAY to linear. SF's and TT's levels felt very open and explore.

I'm doing this only because you are clearly trying to start arguments, or at least exhibit behavior that suggests this to be the case... You can complain in other threads, sure, but you can't say ANYTHING if the post exceeds 80% complaining whenever someone asks a question


I hope this is sarcasm... Grow up, champ. All of us have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to this franchise. If we want to express our dislike, that's our God given right.

If immature people can't handle it, they need to stop viewing forums, because in this day and age, everyone has an opinion. If those who dislike this years version are moderated, while those who preach sunshine and rainbows about this game can have their posts stay put, I'll quit this forum right now, due to lack of maturity in part of the mods.

There was a new update on PS3 that changed around the racing menu. Maybe now changing terrain doesn't boot you out of the game...?

Yeah levels were a bit linear but you did had some "exploration" while using Sea and Sky vehicles.
Of course we could have had much more out of them without forced Land areas...

Though I have to say I really liked the "open world" areas... If only they could have been accessibile by Skylanders too...

To answer the question, i don't like :
the absence of arenas or battle mode.
the absence of Spyro, i mean they've redone nicely the gameplay of gill, terrafin, jet vac and stealth elf
but nothing for the canonic heroe. RIP spyro, crashed by a giant hot steak smilie

was how quickly Glumshanks was found and rescued. It's like they thought having even one level with him missing would have been too dark for a kid's game or something.

That's true... The point is it's something which only affects the gameplay once the vehicle's armor is gone.
It would kinda be like having all the Skylander's abilities activating only once their health is low.
Adding special abilities related to at least the Elements would have been a bit better.

it was a pity to have him back so quickly but I can't really say I entirely disliked it.
It was an extremely intense moment for the series and I sincerely thought we would have never seen him again... But yeah, they indeed solved it waaaay too early.

I think it was a great moment in itself. I think like the final level's cutscenes,it's more what it MEANS than what actually happens which is so strong.

David pretty much put Glumshanks in the grey zone of good versus bad. You and Kaos pushed him around for all those years of the series,yet he STILL IS willing to die for both sides, even if thankfully he didn't have to this time. Just like Kaos became a lighter shade of black, Glumshanks showed he was never anywhere close to a villain to begin with.

All right, after giving it some thought... Here's everything I don't like about the game.

-The vehicle sections aren't bad IMO. I do think the gimmick was handled kind of poorly this year though.
-Bandit Train. Just... Just why? I mean, at least Battlebrawl Island had a story reason to exist and can help level up Skylanders...
-The mandatory land sections, again, aren't bad, but it's when they change from the behind-vehicle camera view that they aren't fun.
-I didn't have a problem with randomized rewards, but after thinking about it, they kind of defeat the main reason you'd replay a level.
-Love the idea of guest characters, but yeah, weren't executed well.

And these last two I have to spoiler for obvious reasons:

-The Glumshanks sacrifice scene, while I feel a step in the right direction, didn't give enough time to let it sink in before pulling the psyche card.
(I mean, I badmouthed the Machine Ghost death, but at least you thought he was actually dead for most of the game...)
-Final boss was kind of underwhelming.

Randomized rewards blew up in their face in my opinion. Know how I got everything so quick? Rank 75 was easily done via live wire lock puzzle right at spawn location in a academy. Kept setting the time and wishin 2 hours I went from 40 to 75. As for hats, every time i went back into the game due to resetting time, I would. Is it the shop until I only needed two hats, which are gotten via daily quests

Beat the game in one day on Nightmare Mode, got everything minus 5 Skystones the next day. Was so disappointed.

This is why it's called an exploit. They never designed the game for you to beat in one sitting. You're disappointed because you sped everything up for a pointless shortcut, and I'll have to be blunt and say it's your fault and not the devs'. Maybe they should fix it? No, people who spent the entire day changing system time just to farm Stardust know very well the workings of farming a resource.

Ok something that I've just noticed that really annoys me is that on the xbox 360 (not sure about other versions) the game save files seem to be linked. So unlike SSF where each game save slot kept its own portal master ranking, SSC seems to be updating all game saves regardless of which one the star is achieved on. So now instead of looking at it and knowing all stars are mine, every time my children play it, their new stars are added to mine. Very annoying.

I see also that some people have included their likes here. There are some things I like.

I like all of the Skylanders. I like that there are fewer of them but I like their designs. I hate that there are any vehicles and that the game forces me to use them, but as far as the vehicles themselves go I thing some of them look really cool. I see that there have been complaints about their paint jobs, I personally don't look at them that closely, but they do look good.

I'm hopeful that there will be more things that I like as I go along.

Meanwhile I'm having my fun playing Tessa and Hugo quests,doing races, and replaying my favorite chapters or doing co-op for whole levels at a legit rate and enjoying it a lot. This game is supposed to last until next october/september,not a single day.

Yeah, not planning on farming. I purposely didn't play it on Nightmare so I'd have to replay it again (hopefully with Wave 3/4 guys) to get the rest of my achievements and get upgrades at around the time I hopefully get the land cup. That's how I'm personally going to extend my time on it. Going to chill for a while and play other games.

They need an option to allow us to control what gets shared for this very reason. I Agree.
