I'm pretty sure the "child only" verbiage is there to prevent scalpers from coming in and monopolizing the poster stock. When they did the Trap Team tablet demo, my wife and I attended, got lanyards, got to check out the game and didn't have any issues. My son hadn't been born yet, so we didn't have him to lug around with us to qualify as having a non-teenage child and weren't given any issues at all. It may have helped that most of the staff knows us on sight and we purchase the vast majority of our Skylanders stuff there, but still, if you line up like everyone else and are polite, you'll most likely get a chance to check out SuperChargers and get a poster child or not.

I'm right there with you, darkchylde. Though I'm single and got no kids, I'm a regular at mine and they know me. TRU maybe pricey, but they often have the best stock with GameStop/EB Games a close second.

They had the ds game, posters and coupons.

9/12-9/19 $2-$4 old single figures spyro adventure, Giants and swap force.

9/20 only coupon
$22 single character and vehicle
$5 single figure or vehicle when you buy any racing pack.

Sorry to hear that Matteomax. I totally forgot about mine until 8 minutes before it was due to end. LOL I don't think they had any plans as I was there a few days ago and there wasn't anything mentioned about it anywhere in store.

Well, looks like it was a storewide problem since a lot of stores are unable to connect to WiFi at all since they don't even have it.

I did manage to snag some images of the demo Starter Kit they had, though. Battlecast cards were included with it;

The TRU in Fayetteville, GA had to cancel it. The TRU worker couldn't get it working on the XBone. I hope it wasn't because he was trying to use a different platform disc. I didn't see the disc, so I can't be sure. Needless to say, my boys were disappointed. There was definitely interest since several families showed up to try out the game.

Confirmed: E3 Hot Streak comes up as an in game variant: "Exclusive Event Edition". Apologies for lack of clarity. My wife's phone was full and I barely was able to get what I got.

I have TONS of negative feedback on this event as well.

One of my TRUs doesn't even have internet running to upgrade their Xbox One for the demo, the other two didn't have theirs set up or it malfunctioned after the demo started working.

Lemons to the rescue - from the look of things you're the few that actually got something working.Nice find either way.

Also, someone in r/skylanders got a working version as well, but they only posted a picture and very hard to see the screen. Here's hoping there's more footage from others.

But are the demons only X1 versions? If they were for more consoles they could release temp ones like Splatoon Global Testfire.

So, here's my thoughts on today's "event":

1. Activision did NOT run this event, they simply provided the game, portal, figures and a 3 page instruction book on setting it up and getting it to work. TRU employees did the work.
2. At MY store, the portal had to be placed on the desk of the Xbox One station. The figures did not work at all. 20 minutes in to the demo I realized that it might be interference and simply moved the portal somewhere else. It finally worked after that. The TRU employee actually broke open a box and replaced the portal.
3. We didn't think about using the WiFi, as we were so exasperated to even get the portal to recognize the figure.
4. The game was the real deal. It was NOT a demo. We played through the first couple of levels. I think it's slightly possible the content on the disk wasn't "the final cut", but if there were restrictions in the game I did not see it.
5. The sound on our system did not work. Yes, we played the demo without sound.
6. There was literally only 3 families that showed up to the event. I recognize them from the midnight showings.
7. There appeared to be a lot of plastic on the two figures we used, much more than what I've seen in previous games.
8. The portal itself IS VERY FINICKY. We experienced MULTIPLE TIMES that it thought our figures were corrupt, and we had to move the figures around on the portal to get them to work.
9. The game itself PREVENTS canceling out of dialogue. Like AT ALL. This is going to be a paintful game to play on repeats I'm afraid.
10. The art of the levels and the hues/effects were outstanding. VV has done an outstanding job on visuals. If gives me very much an "Empire Strikes Back" kind of feel to it, if that makes any sense to the Star Wars fans. There's a literal sense of urgency straight in the first second of gameplay.
11. I also put on Bat Spin...she looked awesome and her intro looked picture perfect to the Trap Team rendition.

The first few seconds you are driving through a rainbow colored tube of some sort. Very awesome effect. Reminds me of the volcano scene in Swap Force.

How in the world? The press copies always had skippable dialogue, sometimes even if no prompt was shown(and sometimes with a second to be avaliable, unlike TT which sometimes made you listen to the first two words).

If they're one of the press and got a working copy and are showing images from the game, they could get in trouble for not agreeing to the embargo date.

Nope, they're on a store, X1 station as Lemons described.
But while the skippable dialogue could be... Dunno, there's plenty of press videos around showing skipped cutscenes and dialogue; the finnicky portal could be an issue. If even without interference it's got issues, hopefully the bigger size doesn't mean weaker signal.

It "may" be because after the first level you do your "Here's Persophone", "Here's Sharkfin", "Here's Mags" but at no time during the first two levels could I cancel ANYTHING. Including the cutscenes.

Maybe it's a first time around kind of deal? Some games do force cutscenes on first viewing, but after enough repeats or deaths you get prompts to skip; and it'd make sense for press footage to have it skippable since dozens of people played through that level already on that day.

There was definitely some scenes we were able to skip. Specifically remember on where Flynn was explaining doing the flying gate. At the bottom of the screen it said Press Y to skip. And we did.

I think they did this in SF where you can't skip dialougue the FIRST time through a level

^Definitely. This felt a lot like the Swap Force version. But the lunacy continued while we played the 2nd level.

I looked the box the game came in...it was an Xbox One Game box...looked exactly like retail--there wasn't a cheap CD/DVD sleeve. The Activision box the kit came in though didn't have the retail box or anything like that though.

Our TRU only had a 3DS demo available. Not what I was expecting at all. At least the poster is cool - it shows supercharged versions of all vehicles.

Yeah, my TRU had the box, and it looked like a normal starter pack box, but with a green sticker slapped on saying: "DEMO do NOT put out for retail"

My impressions:
They had the Xbox One version, it was working just fine. I never played an Xbox One before, I found the controller to be less comfortable to the 360.

NPC DIALOG IS UNSKIPPABLE
Seriously what year is this, they had two years between games and they never fixed it?

Like others said, the E3 Hot Streak shows in-game (which shouldn't be a surprise since the packaging depicts the variant in-game). The upgrade pieces are colored to match as well.

The "magic moment" scene shows the vehicle after loading a character even if you only switch a character, making the scene longer and potentially more irritating in the long term. Bad VV!

I was surprised how small the superchargers are. They're cores! Yeah I saw pictures, but it never really dawned on me until seeing them in person.

Character movement feels a bit smoother than it did in TT.

(I'm probably the only one who cares about this!) NPC lip sync in realtime scenes is still weird, but better.

The art and animation are awesome as usual.

Fright Rider in a vehicle shows Fright AND Rider. No pictures, sorry.

One of my characters from home had the turkey hat, which looks as it did in SF. It could stand to reason that the other hats that changed in TT (like the shark hat) will keep their SF looks. The hat was also enormous, couldn't tell if that was normal or if the hat situation got worse.
In hindsight, I should've brought a returning character from SF to see if they retained their visual wow pow change (mega ram Spyro's horns, etc).

I'd have to play more of the vehicle sections to judge, but the vehicle portions remind me of Sonic Adventure 2's car sections (in a bar way). However, the non-track car areas felt great.

The enemy pun names are great.

Trinkets/outfits are gone, only hats remain. Previously-equipped trinkets don't show at all.

The hat list is alphabetized. The bad news is there is no silhouette showing what missing hats look like.

The AI pathing feels a little better. In one area, two of Sonic Boom's babies attacked an enemy, while the other two went away to attack offscreen crates. I noticed that bombs aren't throwable, which made me think that it might be a bandaid fix to the weird targeting priority that happened exclusive to Swap Force.

Okay, time to visit opinion town: It feels more and more like TFB does things their own way, while VV does the own too. Which is a bad thing since each game only feels like an "upgrade" to their own games rather than the series as a whole. Instead of being able to make a definitive best game, they just seesaw back and forth. I know I've been saying this since SF but it's more affirming now :u

Where in the menu exactly if you can remember where? Cause lets be honest after a single time through a stage no one wants to hear the dialogue 5 more times if they can help it for the most part.

Ok...

Wouldn't say anything about SuperChargers sizes as of now.
Spitfire and Super Shot Stealth Elf might not be that tall but the poses of certain characters (Stormblade, Smash Hit, Nightfall) could probably end up adding a lot of unneeded size...
Thanks, lore-explained aberrations... smilie

Battlecast cards inside the Starter Pack.
No.
Keep the two things separate.
Stop forcing me to get something I most likely don't want, there's already Stealth Elf n° 24 for that.

The option to make the cutscenes skippable after the first time you played them is great.
These games could definitely use more of those settings options.

Oh, look!
Trinkets are gone!
Just another thing they didn't bother to support since they didn't came up with them.
Not that I uses them but I don't think kids will be happy to see their non-decorated heroes...

Don't even make me talk about the Magic Moment.
That's the dumbest idea I've seen so far... Seriously, it even tops revamped SuperChargers.

I'm really happy to hear the game looks and plays so amazingly good but I definitely agree with what Okaps said: both developers need to truly cooperate.
I think when they will finally understand it that will be the day stupid or nonsensical things will stop being made.
Until now, no matter how this game will be.
I know which developer is overall my favorite.

Went to an event at Toys R Us in Cincinnati. Portal was not working well. Hopefully this does relate to interference from being too close to TV and Xbox, and not just poorly manufactured portals. Did anyone try putting a trap in the portal?

I couldn't because the demo at my TRU was a digital version, and I tried to put a trap in the trap hole at the display, but the inside trap hole had gray cardboard on it so I couldn't put a trap in.
