Well that's disappointing...

I haven't nicknamed my Skylanders until now, but I was going to finally start. (What with finally slimming down my collection.) Mainly because I don't like the repose Superchargers being the same characters as the S1 versions...

I even had some (but not all) pseudo-headcanons to apply to them. Like Super Shot Stealth Elf being Stealth Elf's older sister. Etc. (Not sure how I was going to go about the Minis...)

And just to make each skylander more of a character, to me, I was going to start giving them real names. Because let's all be honest, very few Skylanders have real names. Stealth Elf is a description, Chop Chop is an onomatopoeia, Drill Sergeant is a title, and Trigger Happy is an adjective. Even some Skylander who do have names, arguably, don't have very good ones. Eruptor, Jet Vac, Pop Fizz, and Terrafin just sound silly. Off the top of my head; Spyro, Cynder, Bowser, DK, Hex, Fiesta, Barkley, and Splat are the only skylanders with good, actual names. And half of them were established characters before skylanders started! (Which might be the only reason I'm not complaining about DK, honestly...) There are probably more, but I can't think of them right now. (Other than Fright Rider, and that's only being half true. I like the bird being named Fright, but I don't like the Rider being named Rider... He should get an actual name too!)



Fiesta isn't a proper name; it's a word, just not in English, try to be a little more culturally sensitive smiliexD it means "Party" in Spanish; it sounds like a proper name because it doesn't sound like it would be a word in English, but imagine there was a Skylander named "Party", that sounds rediculous, does it not? Like "Drill Sergeant". "Blades" or "Whirlwind" level dumb... (I'm not saying anything about the characters, just their names)

smilie I just learned today that you can't rename them. I just finally registered my skylanders and had been planning this whole time to finally rename a skylander
I was going to name Dive Clops either Big Daddy, Mr. B or Bubbles..... i'm so disappointed. smilie

You know, I always wondered how incredibly dumb certain names must sound to you english or american Portal Masters. smilie
I mean as juarmo pointed out a lot of character's names such as Whirlwind, Blades, Scratch, Wrecking Ball or Swarm are simply objects, concepts or actions.

Yeah, they might sound exoctic to us non-english people but it's nothing different from calling a Skylander "Axe" or "Hammer"... Except the ones I listed above actually sound cool!

Enigma is kind of an odd ball... It is the same in italian, for example, yet sounds really good and whimsical.
Don't know, just a random thought which I hope is still on-topic.

Oh, and if Chop Chop is a silly name then same goes for Splat. smilie

Anyway, maybe you can actually nickname your characters but you need to unlock the feature by reaching a certain Portal Master rank...?
Who knows, I recently found out levelling up can really provide some rather interesting rewards...

Okay: Sorry for the unintentional insensitivity.

I didn't really think of it from those perspectives. [Then again, it doesn't really help coming off of stuff like Pokemon, where Darkria translates to "Dark Dark," or just similar things where a character has a good sounding name, to spite it being literal. Another example being Blaze from the Sonic franchise, who is pyrokinetic.]

I'm not sure how I feel about Fiesta's or Splat's names now...

Though for reference, I think I was originally going to nickname Stealth Elf something like Seleane. I don't remember.
