I prefer not to call them reposes as I think the term is misleading. Yes, they are the same character in a different pose, but implies there is nothing different. I can respect that a different move-set is immaterial to a lot of people, but to a lot of other people, it's a favorite character doing something different. Personally, I think Activision brought back these characters instead of new ones so they can continue building brand recognition, not entirely because customers asked for it. I don't get while gill grunt's so popular with Activision, but I suspect they know something we don't know. And honestly, this website seems rather divided on whether they like the new/old characters are not, both sides rather passionately.

I wouldn't call DI a flop. Flop's don't make it to a 3rd time around. And there is no doubt DI's existence has negatively effected Skylanders sales. With Amiibo, I'm guessing not as much, since Activision seems to be happy doing a cross promotion with Nintendo. And has been, the Amiobo's are going to run out of relevant characters rather quickly.

Which is why I call them gimmick-reposes. Reposes just means a new pose, the real term should be Series (insert current number) for what we call reposes out of habit.

The only competition in my opinion is Amiibo they are starting to become bigger than Skylanders , the reason would be is everyone is familiar with these amiibos , there for they have a wider audience than Skylanders for example. The good thing though is Skylanders has the ability to reinvent itself while Amiibo would come to a certain point where they can no longer produce relevant figure characters due to them all being out already. DI is a flop since day 1 and LD won't have the same appeal as amiibo and skylanders I mean interactive lego figures ummmm not that big of a deal when you look at the competitors.

But as I said earlier LD has what the people want; portal, Dr. Who, The Simpsons, Ghostbusters, Scooby Doo, dc, Back to the Future. These are a lot movies that adults grew up with, Lego is aiming at both age groups of kids, teens and adults. for kids, you have Chime, the Lego Movie, Dc, and Scooby doo. For teens and adults you have simpsons, Portal, Dr. Who, Ghostbusters, and Back to the Future.

Edit: Also the Lego minifigs and minimodels can be removed from the bases

I'd rather stand tall, then live on my knees, cause I am a conqueror, and I won't accept defeat! Try telling me no, one thing about me, is I am a conqueror
