The dearth that ensues from the lack of dragons also lets gnorcs claim the realms and run about freely. So as he enters each realm, Spyro must restore them a la Twilight Princess. Actually, I see the whole thing as being quite Zelda-ish(although all the aspects that people love about Insomniac Spyro will still be there), because for example, the world is huge and open, there are mini-quests, and things can be bought from stores using gems. So basically, TUS is Spyro the Dragon but with a lot of enhancements.
As for the other question, the raccoon is a character I created called Sylver. He ran away from the woodland just outside of Artisans to join the blue thieves, but after a few years they kicked him out. This was for a reason that he still can't imagine, for his thieving skills had gotten very strong since he'd been with them. Perhaps it was because he was so independent- he'd developed his own methods of stealing. He didn't like to join the blue thieves on raids of villages and such. As a raccoon his stealing processes are more Sly Cooper-ish meaning he prefers to move in the shadows and remain undetected, whereas the little gremlins in blue will violently burst into the open to take things by force. He thinks that it's just as well they expelled him... he was about to quit anyway. But he still detests them, so when Spyro attempts to infiltrate their lair to steal back the eggs and fails, Sylver is sympathetic, and agrees to join forces with Spyro.
Well that's it and my fingers are falling off. I hope I answered your questions well.

*thumbs down* you have taken WAy to many things of other spyro games(already made) And the raccon is WAy to like sly copper. Sparx looks like a freak(BUG EYYYYYYYYYES) Spyro just looks...wrong...

It would also be weird to suddenly move back to the old serires without explanation on what happened to DOTD spyro, there ae MANY unansweared questions in DOTD that we need to know.

Plus EL have already said they are not going back to the originals.

And spyro would lose half his fans, due to cynder's dissaperance.

Overall this game, would SUCK.

SWEET I would play it

No... it's basically a revival of Insomniac Spyro. But I have an idea for some following games, one of which might be sort of like this. Look at post 10 to see the story... although it's changed a bit since DotD came out.

it's 98 percent old Spyro, but with higher action and fancier tricks on Spyro's part, and shinier graphics. There are two games following it, and Spyro grows progressively older through them. And in the last one, an old-school-Spyro-style Cynder shows up! And as for something completely new to Spyro overall, I see the gameplay in this as being almost Zelda-ish.
