Kyrel walked along the hallway, his torch keeping the shadows at bay for now. One shadowy talon reached forward, however, and Kyrel dropped his torch in fright. The shadows swarmed over him, corrupting the black dragon. The dragon's scales were emanating an eerie darkness....

Ura slept peacefully, her light shield keeping the shadows away from her and the others.

*Got to go now, sorry!*

"Kyrel!" Scorch ran over to help his friend. He tried a blast of flame, but he could barely see. "Kyrel! I won't let them corrupt you!" He fired a blast of light at one of the shadows.

Kumara looked up at the starry sky in thought. She had always wandered why this war was happening. She had been born after the whole ordeal started, and she still couldn't figure out how the darkness began. She sighed at her own lack of understanding.
"Kumara, something bothering you?" A black dragon with a crimson stripe asked his friend.
"Fine, I guess," Kumara replied, "Shadow, do you ever wander how we got into this mess?"
Shadow glared at the ground, "no, I don't look back, only forward." Kumara nodded with uncertainty.
"Ura? You awake?" She asked, silence being her answer, "guess not..."

Kade moved quietly through the thick undergrowth of a forest. He was searching for safe place to sleep, however, the task was difficult. The dragon was on his own, trying to survive. He had narrowly escaped the shadows time and time again and still was getting nowhere.

Alcos watched Kyrel and Scorch from the shadows. She had an insane grin on her muzzle, one of which could frighten a child to death.

Poleire looked at his companions; his childhood friends, Flasheris, the adventurous; Valley, the humor of the group; and Navy, the brains of the team. The four of them stuck together as they fought off shadows. Right now, they had made a camp in a clearing in a forest.

Darakon fell out of the sky next to Poleire, "Hey, you seem to need a hand!" he unleashed a ball of fear at a shadow that had got too close to Valley, "Name's Darakon, nice to meet you!"

(Isn't Darakon corrupted?)

Navy looked at Darakon suspiciously, while Valley said, "Nice to meet you, i'm Valley. You know, deep and filled to the brim with movement." She giggled at the slight joke.

(Yes, he is, but he's hiding it)

Darakon laughed lightly at valley's joke, then looked over at Navy, "Don't trust me? There's always one isn't there..." He tripped up a shadow that was sneaking up behind him and punched it back to the shadows, "Don't worry, I'm on your side..."

(I see.)

"That's Navy, he isn't exactly the type to warm up to others, I'm Poleire." The fire and ice dragon said.

"And I am Flasheris, almost always on the move." The light and electric dragoness said.

"Cool." said Darakon, "How long have you been holding out here?"

"Approximately three weeks." Navy said carefully.

Darakon looked out at the shadows, "Wow, that's a long time, must've been hard for you..." even though, inwardly, he thought, "No wonder they had to call me in..."

"Velia? Are you alright?"

The Dryphon in question turned to her sister, a tired smile on her face. "I'm fine. Just abit restless is all."

"You've been 'restless' for awhile now, you're hardly sleeping, what's actually wrong?" Avia asked, frowning.

Sighing, Velia complied. "Well, with all the close calls we've been having lately, I'm just... Afraid that something will happen to you, so I've been staying up more." She admitted, eyes downcast.

Avias eyes softened in understanding, and she leaned forward to touch their foreheads together. "I appreciate that you're always there for me, I really do, but you need to be concerned for your own safety aswell, you always think so little of yourself."

Velia had nothing to say to that, knowing it was true.

"Please, rest. If you keep insisting on being half-awake I'll be the one having to protect you." She teased, flicking the tip of her tail against her nose.
Velia batted the fluffy thing aside and gave a small chuckle. "Alright."
As they started to walk, Velia suddenly froze, ears raised.

"What's wrong?" Avia asked, looking concerned.
Blinking, the black Dryphon shook her head in dismissal, though on the inside she was still highly suspicious. "I... I thought I heard something. Let's fly the rest of the way, quickly..." and Avia needed no further prompting, opening her wings and taking off.

(I'll try super hard not to have my future posts this long, I just get really carried away when it comes to story telling )

Poleire looked at Darakon, "Things aren't so difficult for us, we have a secret weapon."

As soon as those things started to sprout he had taken to the air and hovering a good foot above the ground. He hadn't seen it coming and he doubted there was anyone else around but that notion was dismissed once he saw two dragons fly out in the distance. He deducted safety in numbers and thus went towards them...besides fighting shadows would just be embarrassing and he might as well fight a waterfall.

Skyward rolled over next to Ura, unable to sleep. "Ura?" she finally whispered. "I can't sleep. I'm scared that I'll get corrupted."

Poleire and his companions froze, seeing the blast of light, "Someone's over there, come on." Flasheris said.

Flasheris shot bolts of electricity and light at the fleeing shadows, "And good riddance."

"Hello," Poleire looked at Shade, "What's your name? I am Poleire, and these are my friends, Flasheris, Navy, and Valley."

"Uhh, would it help to know we aren't corrupted?" Poleire called into the cave.

"I can't blame him, in times like these, trust is hard to obtain." Navy commented.

"Could the corrupted use the light element so well." Flasheris started to doing all kinds of tricks with her light element.

"They could, never knew that." Flasheris remarked.

"You have made a very good question. Since we aren't corrupted, we can't breathe chaos, however, you may simply think that we wont; seeing as how we could simply be hiding it if we were corrupted. Due to that fact, we have no way to prove we aren't corrupted; it is quite a predicament you've put us in. It is up to you to determine if you can trust us." Navy observed.

"Alright, so what is your name, or do we not get to call you one?" Poleire asked.

"Well Shade, nice to meet you." Poleire said.

Eventually landing, Velia moved to say something to Avia when something moving in the sky caught her attention, and it seemed to be heading towards them.

"Get down!" She hissed.

Avia blinked and crouched, looking up aswell. "You think they're corrupted?"

"Either way, I don't like it." The older female growled, thrashing her tail in anticipation.

"Well, we've made a camp here in the nearby clearing; it doesn't give the shadows much opportunity to sneak up on us, and is rather cozy if you forget about the shadows." Flasheris said.

"Well, follow us then, me and Flasheris have taken down many shadows." Poleire said, walking back to the clearing; he wondered about that Darakon guy.

Valley tried lighting the situation up, "So Shade, knock knock." She hoped that he knew what knock knock jokes were.

Valley's wings drooped, "I take it you haven't heard of 'knock knock' jokes before?"

Valley sighed, and Flasheris said, amused, "She never gets to tell people her jokes. It's like destiny itself is keeping her from doing that."

Darakon walked up to Poleire as they returned to the clearing, "So, what was that secret weapon you were telling me about?"

The remains of the shadows lay strewn around the area, killed with darkness itself, however, the remains were slowly sliding back into the darkness at the edge of the clearing and reforming.

He slightly halted near the dragons upon seeing one of them go defensive, A bigger and smaller duo both of which were female and bore a resemblance to each other which gave the notion to him that they were related. Since he was the one trespassing he hovered and relaxed his muscles, showing no aggressive intent at least via body language.

"I'm not a threat and I could care less if you think so but right now there are worse things going on down there"

Poleire looked at Shade, "This is Darakon, we ... don't really know much about him," Poleire said thoughtfully, "Darakon, this is Shade."

"I've got the light element." Flasheris said.

Kade was still peacefully walking when he sensed a dark presence. He immediately began running for his life. He cursed at himself for not being one of the light element as he ran. Eventually he became surrounded and began blowing fire to protect himself.
