Top 10 Thing that should be in Skylanders 5 [CLOSED]

1. Online: online co-op, or mini adventure online, skystones, or vs mode, online ranking ...something?

2. Production: Slow down on the production of millions of characters, no way a game of this size should cost $300-$500 every year!!!!!
Focus should be more on more on levels or a longer game, even two games that support same portal and ideas. I guess it's all about the mighty dollar$$$ tho.

Stop making things like traps or swap-force ideas, things you have to take items out of original package to use.
Many collectors keep their figures an items in original packaging.

3. Game play: More puzzle solving and world exploration....less button mashing. More use for older Skylanders in newer games.

Make figures of fan favourite villains. The story is that they went to the academy and trained to be a Skylander.

Ok, my turn! In no particular order...

1. In terms of reposes, I think STT hit the nail on the head. One repose per element feels about right, and a lightcore here or there doesn't hurt, just don't overdo it. This is good for people like me who have one or two Skylanders they really love, and enjoy collecting every version of them. (Eruptor was my first non-starter pack skylander, and you can bet your chase varients that I'll be getting Eons Elite Eruptor when they finally release him)

2. Put armor back to being actual armor like in SWAP force. I was very excited when I learned that they turned armor into actual damage reduction instead of what was basically 'evasion'. Trap Team kind of flopped on this.

3. Make sure that past releases play as well in future games as they did in their debut games. Man oh man is this a big one. The transition from SSA to SG went very well, but SG to SWF was a little rougher. You eventually get used to it, but ol' Fright Rider felt off to me for a while. SWF to STT is very hit and miss. Wind up feels awful to play as now, I'm not sure what they did to him, but they need to undo it. I'm afraid of what will happen to Gearshift if this trend continues.

4. Please no more turret sequences. They weren't fun in SSA, and they still aren't fun now. They bring the flow of the level to a screetching halt. I will tolarate overly basic card games and boring lock puzzles, because you can skip those, but please stop with the on rail shooters.

5. Give us PVP back. The removal of it just shows that the people that balance the skylanders are downright lazy. The damage rescale in Swap force made sense, with the new 20 level cap, battles would last too long with the old damage values. But now everyone in the game does 80 damage per hit right out of the box! I remember the days when it was a big deal of anyone did over 150 damage, (old yamato cannon anyone?) but now every button press under the sun results in what would have been a screenwipe back in the days of SG. Scale everyones damage back down so they would have fit in with SWAP Force, which had the best PVP of the last three games. (at least in my opinion) I wont ask for online stuff if I can go back to throwing down with my brother and continuing the age long rivalry between Trigger Happy and Gill Grunt.

6. I think it's unanimous that we're tired of new portals. I've got four of the things tucked away in my entertainment piece, I don't need any more. A portal owners pack like Giants would be great, but you have to make it worth buying. The price difference between the portal owners pack and the regular starter pack was $15. All well and good, except that the starter pack came with two more core Skylanders. Of course I'm going to get $20 worth of extra stuff for $15! Make sure the only thing missing from the portal owners pack is the portal.

7. Rework Nightmare Mode. Don't get me wrong, I love being able to set the difficulty, and being able to challenge myself after my army is all up to level 20 is great, but I think Nightmare Mode could use a few tweaks. As of now they just exponentially increase the damage and HP of enemies so you have to spend 90% of your time dodging attacks and it takes an eternity to destroy one Mine Miner. Instead, they should boost these stats so they're slightly higher than hard, but put more focus on maybe making enemies harder in terms of making their attack animations quicker, and perhaps include some special enemies that only show up in nightmare mode. Food for thought.

8. Give Gimmick-Landers some real use in future games, more than just opening special chests. I'm talking traptanium deposits, Feats of strength... maybe not swap zone challenges, because other than the speed ones, those were just a burden... They woulden't be needed to 100% the game, per se, but perhaps create short cuts to complete time dares quicker, and get into super special areas.

9. Bring back those element only abilities. Alot of people seem to want this, and I'm joining the band wagon. SSA did it right, lava lakes that you needed your sunburn to cross, rock walls that you had to get your prism break for, good stuff. It made each element feel more unique, and gave them some real good utility, I miss that.

10. They've done a good job keeping things backwards compatible so far, keep the trend. I'm not sure how traps will factor into the next game, but I trust they'll have a plan. (This might help us not have to buy a new portal!)

11. An open world Skylanders game sounds delicious. I'm doubtful it'll ever happen, but but a guy can dream, can't he?

12. Bring back the dialogue writers from SWAP force, and have them team up with the story writers from Trap Team. Trap team had a better story to it, but after playing through it, I'm super tired of the word 'Awesome'. If I had a nickle for every time someone in that game said 'Awesome', I'd own every chase varient produced. PLEASE get a little more crative with your writing, Activision.

13. Finally, put some real heavy focus on the dark and light elements. Please don't make them a one game gimmick and completely abandon them in favor of making people buy more expansion packs to unlock some new element thrown in at the last second. Give them as much focus as the other eight elements. Make them fit in!

Wow, I'm sorry for the wall of text. Might have gone a little overboard. :-\

I'd like to see some kind of a special edition version of SSA. Not as the next game, but as an in between games type of deal. I think it would be great--Wii U, PS4, and XB One have all come out since SSA and there is no version of it for them (except the Japanese WiiU version). They could re-master it and mix it up a little bit (like Nintendo did with the Zelda Master Quest), add compatability with the games that came after it (play your swappers & trapped villains etc.).
They could even sell it as a game only type of thing to keep their costs down. I'd buy it just so I wouldn't have to switch consoles every time I wanted to play it. Then we could play our newer characters in the heroic challenges and the old expansion levels.
As far as future games go, I'd like them to incorporate all the gimmicks as they go along and make some of the repose figures of gimmick skylanders from the previous games. I wouldn't mind seeing some cool reposes of the Giants and swappers.

These resonate with me. I like having areas requiring specific skylander elements without the gates, but whos to say you can't even be more specific and require certain things that require certain powers to accomplish? This would make experimentation very cool (but also frustrating, so I know it has to be balanced for the age group). Elemental gates were downright lazy in TT.

I expect traps not to return. Do you want to have to amass an army of traps? Remember, if they aren't selling traps, I doubt they'll "invest" gameplay into it.

They can create a more "open" world apart from the chapter story, or start to introduce branches based on story selection etc. SOMETHING needs to change.

After reading the post, not sure I still understand. Are we talking about reaction to certain attacks, combos of attacks, etc? Not sure I've seen a combat change in any of the 4 games from my perspective. I haven't seen MK or Street Fighter here from a complexity perspective. Clue me in?

Basically how attacks knock back enmies/make them flinch. For the most part, it isn't nessicary to know, but boy does it make it more fun. I'm stunned more people don't notice how the knockup is different in SF. If you try Ghost Roaster, for instance, you'll see his skull dash ALWAYS knocks up enemies, which you can cleverly use to keep knocking them with chain whip, or to hit them and stop them from using an attack. Or Boom Jet's Mach 2 will always knock back enemies. There are much more interesting examples (like Bucking Boar Zoo Lou with his dust's flinching), I just used those because I tried them recently. There are some attacks like this in the TFB games, but they're FAR more limited and virtually EVERYONE has them in SF. Most of the attacks in TFB games just cause a quick flinch at best with more limited oppurtunities and effect.

You wanna know why Wind-Up is so bad in TT? He was built around Knock Mechanics, which are heavily gimped in TT. Knight Light uses something very similar to Knock Mechanics, with one of his Scimitar Slasher upgrades, but it seems TFB were to stingy to impliment it elsewhere because it requires more design thought.

1- online play- story and pvp for sure... Maybe a Multiple skylander raid style feature?
2- ability to permanently increase stats.
3- add an attack stat
4- level cap increase
5- get rid of trinkets
6- add a feature to "hide" equipped hat.
7- random generated dungeon feature to add replay value. Story levels get old.
8- ability to skip all scenes during story- makes replay annoying
9- less new characters, no new gimmicks, no more reposes. Focus on the game!
10- ability to reset power selection without losing levels and stat increases.

AoA: Oh I totally "get it" now that you've painted the picture for me....I have indeed noticed these changes just didn't know what we called it lol. In my mind the two devleopers have to know the design principle of both the characters and keep it consistent no matter who's doing the work. Secondly, the game itself shouldn't be materially changed thus that both the already designed characters nor the design of the levels "muck" with that philosophy. I guess it can, but then you get these nasty side effects in the fighting mechanics that make it a bit more frustrating for the fans.

When you said "knock mechanics" I was thinking "wow these skylanders really need to know how to knock on doors?" smilie

things that should be in the next game, and things I want/ think should be in the next game are two entirely different lists hahaha. ill try and combine them though. most of these are for if they continue with the same chapter based game like the last 4. i am happy with chapter based, but think to keep others interested it really needs to be shaken up somehow.

PVP/Online anything. i think these should be in the next game, though i can guarantee i won't use either, getting internet that will be compatible for my console is ridiculously expensive where i am, and i only used the PVP for figure quests in past games, i just plain don't find it fun at all.

heroics/figure quests. They need to come back. As grindy and repetitive as they were, i did really think they added something, and it was probably my biggest disappointment for TT. i even took the 4 reposes(don't have Popfizz yet) back to do their quests in SF and took the ones who could back to Giants to do their quests and heroics, and gilly went back to SSA for the couple of heroics there. I loved that SF gave recognition for doing the figure quests in Giants.

the whole "portal owners pack debate". I see it as a trade off for the new gimmick. i would rather have to buy a new portal to go with a new great gimmick(of the calibre of Swapping and Traps) rather than getting a lacklustre one (like Giants or Trap Masters) that doesn't need an upgrade to the portal hardware. a portal owners pack will either be pretty much the same price as the normal starter, or it will be missing figures, making it pretty much pointless to get.
if its possible to do a portal owners pack, hardware and software wise, they should do it, and do it how legoswimmer1211 said, just drop the portal from it, not core figures that can only be gotten that way.

More gameplay is more gameplay. return the score mode, time attack and bonus levels, keep Kaos' doom challenge and add more arenas for Brock to maintain. yes it gets repetitive, i haven't done all score and time things in SF, but just because i didn't, doesn't mean i shouldn't have the option to if i wanted to.

I am toy oriented, rather than gameplay orientated, so for me the more toys the better. i love reposes more so for the different poses than the wowpow, so light core were great too. i think SF had the figures pretty much right, 2 gimmick, 2 new core, 2 reposes. won't get into the choice of reposes apart from to say they should start with giving those missing a repose one, i include light core as a repose, so this changes who needs one a tiny bit.

Go back to cores opening gates, and i like the idea of more elemental specific areas, laval lakes etc. at least make the areas behind the elemental gates a bit more than just places to hide a collectable.

i wrote this a while ago about a different path than the chapter related story, its rather longish so i'll just chuck a link if anyone wants to read about the more open world idea i wrote this a while ago about a different path than the chapter related story, its rather longish so i'll just chuck a link if anyone wants to read about the more open world idea

1- Player VS Player. I don't know why it got skipped from Team Team but I'd surely like to see it back though I didn't mind for one game, hopefully it is not permanent.

2- Online mode would be really sweet, especially for the point #1, having some online matches to do versus against each other, or maybe even something cooperative like doing story together and finding some ways to communicate.

3- Heroic Challenges could be great to see back or maybe there could be also some sort of quests to gain more stats, that would be great I guess.

4- Higher level.

5- Skipping dialogs if nothing is new and that you know the story.

6- More gimmicks could be interesting.

7- I guess it could be also great to take back some old gimmicks from the old games and make use of them on it.

8- I'd like if the game would have a more open world.

9- A bunch of things to do in the story.

10- Good graphics and musics, as usual.

Something else I'd LOVE to see in Skylanders 5: Promote Flynn, Tessa and Cali to Skylander status (Air, Life and Earth respectively) complete with figures. I thought the addition of Buzz and Mags in Trap Team was a great way of ushering in new support characters so the older ones could be promoted to full hero status. Even Mags would be awesome as either Tech or Undead, though she might need to return for a few more games first.

A time travel mechanic could work. You could have a past and present. The new skylanders could be like cores with a time freeze mechanic for £8 but have 40 of them (just like the original games but 8 extra for light and dark) so they could make as much money. Have a giant and two swappers for the new element. Maybe have a two minis and a series 2 per element. There would be a giant and two swappers for the dark and light elements (the swappers would be able to swap with the ones from ssf).

The plot could be that Kaos has traveled back in time, changed important events that influenced Skylands, found new villians and spread them across time. The time skylanders protected the many artefacts that could be used for time travel. When Kaos ceased one, he traveled back but they are only supposed to be used for good so it caused a blast which sent the skylanders to earth. The present levels could be about finding out when and where you need to travel back to and the past is where you fix the mayhem he caused.

The time freeze would be used in the present a lot more than the past and the past levels would include giant areas, swap zones, dual elemental gates, trap master elemental gates and areas blocked by traptanium. The present levels would sell the new cores a lot more and the past ones would be a nice feature for fans from the early games and would get rid of those annoying old figures no one wants at the moment which take up space on shelves.

There would be a starter pack with an earth time skylander, a dark giant and a light swapper. There would a portal owners pack for people with the traptanium portal with same earth time skylander but it has a light giant and dark swapper (it was annoying when we only got Tree Rex in giants). The giant and swapper in the packs would all be available in single packs except the earth one. The 3DS would the earth one and another time skylander.

Does anyone else think this would be good?

This is what I thought but add a level cap of 25, bring PVP back and some online PVP with the ability to turn off the chat just incase some people decide to swear.

10- Unique soundtrack
9- No reposes
8- More levels, each with a special touch
7- The ability to use traps
6- Variety of characters each with unique gameplay (so one does not feel like a buffed version of an older skylander)
5- Releasing skylanders equally so we dont see a thousand Gill Grunts on the shelves!
4- Less minis
3- Picking good names for each skylander (Bat Spin... never again.)
2- Give Giants, Swappers, and Trap Masters use.
1- A game made for the Wii for the fans who cant switch to a different device.

It's not a bad idea, they just need to do a better job with their NPCs. It's not the characters fault that the programmers were lazy. Going off of that, though, maybe Sharpfin could get skylanders status. At least He gave you food in the battle to save the terra-squid.

#1 skipable cut scenes and dialog - I cringe every time I have to hear - "Ready for another magical upgrade?", at least it is shorter then the one in SSF.

#2 However, my biggest problem with the game is the actual game to toy ratio. There are many more figures then there is gameplay, and many other cheaper games that have way more hours of gameplay. When I get a new skylander figure, I have to play thru the same levels again. I would like to see each new toy comes with some dlc, preferably an entire level. This would give programmers time to create new levels after the game was released and be an extra incentive to buy new skylanders. I do not want to have to buy new skylanders to unlock levels already on the disk!

#3 online coop and pvp

#4 SSF had way more stuff to do then STT. We need more stuff to do in game, but unlike SSF, make it more balanced so that extra challenges can be done by any type of skylander and are not only based on speed and not being hit.

#5 make sure the game works well with two players, that is my favorite part of the game is the coop, and there are areas where it just doesn't work with two people.

#6 Another portal does not bother me, I think a game without a portal would confuse too many people. I already spend half my skylanders shopping time explaining how it works to other people.

#7 the ideas people have posted about more special areas for each element.
#8 more zones for the special swapper powers
#9 a sequel/expansion/dlc for the current game to extend game play
#10 remaster Spryo's Adventures and Giants for new platforms (ps4, xbone, wiiu)

Lots of good ideas in this thread. I was surprised at the portal hate, but otherwise agree with most things. However I figure the next game is probably already in production and too late for changes.

Ok, here's mines (not in a specific order):

  1. No new gimmick (unless it it something TRULY AWESOME and original, like the traps, not the Trap Masters, are), and 32 new Cores. Obviously, full backwards compatibility for all the characters (villains included). And, please, avoid variants, reposes and Lightcores, if possible.
  2. New trappable villains. That idea cannot die with Trap Team.
  3. Online features (possibly PvP). I would be fine if there isn't any local one, then.
  4. A great Story like the Trap Team one.
  5. Same graphics, if not better, but same art style. No need to change that again, like with SWAP Force. And, If they'll have to ditch older consoles (*cough*Wii*coff*), to obtain better results, or in favor of new ones (PC, Vita) go for it.
  6. An increased level cap (25 would be fine, but 30 would be perfect), with some serious alterations in the characters' stats (not only health, but also defence, speed, luck and so on), and maybe a skill point mechanic of some sort.
  7. An open world game, maybe...?
  8. Older Adventure Packs fixed to work with the jump mechanic, and maybe also with trappable villains inside them. Also, at least two new Adventure Packs.
  9. Either leave the Dark and Light Skylanders as they are, or add a Giant, two Swappers and a Trap Master for each Element, along with some Cores. That would be a gimmick I would appreciate.
  10. More Element-related areas (underwater zones, pools of lava only Fire Skylanders can access, areas that require you to fly, destructible rocks and so on. SA has been a master, in this).

I would have other suggestions, but these are the most important.

DUDE
YOU JUST HIT A NAIL ON THE HEAD WITH YOUR #7
COULD YOU IMAGINE IF SKYLANDERS WAS OPEN WORLD? plus it would be perfect because GTA V came out last year and that was open world. Also, for my list of things, here it is
1 OPEN WORLD = AWESOME!!! (opera music in background while deadpool rides a giant flying tiger)
2 NO LIGHTCORES! they are expensive and even toysrus said they lost a ton of money because NO ONE bought them
3 NO MORE REHASHES! THEY JUST - THEY JUST---- AAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
4 More light and dark
5 MORE TRAPPABLE VILLIANS! THAT CANNOT STOP plus they are already making millions just off of those so why stop?

ALSO PLEASE READ AND CRITIQUE PLEASE

So, I have an idea for an AMAZING GIMMICK! So, what i was thinking was ARMOR! Basically, there are no new skylanders (maybe like 2 but not many new ones) BUT INSTEAD, there are either ARMOR SETS or ARMOR SINGLES, with one piece costing maybe 7-10 bucks and the full set (Head, Chest, Leggings, Boots) costing maybe 30-35 dollars. So, there are like 16 different armor sets, 2 for each element, and basically, these armors are used for the gates (YOU NEED A HELMET FOR THIS GATE) BUT, WHEN THIS ARMOR IS PUT ON THE PORTAL (it has a base, not going on the skylander) IT ADDS THAT ELEMENT TO YOUR SKYLANDER! ALSO THEY APPEAR ON YOUR CHARACTER IN THE GAME! SO, YOU COULD BE SPYRO (WHOS MAGIC) AND USE LIKE , I DONT KNOW, A WATER HELMET, YOUR SPYRO WITH MAGIC AND WATER POWERS! ALSO, THE FULL ARMOR SET GIVES YOU A SPECIAL ATTACK ( LIKE A COMBO OR SOMETHING) THATS SUPER STRONG, AND YOU CAN MIX AND MATCH ARMORS FOR DIFFERENT RESULTS! SO AWESOME!

Well, if they decide to add another element, they can do Time. They have the villains: Clock Geargolem, Time Spell Punk (lesser). Cluck (Super villain)
PvP: never really played it, so I'm neutral
Longer gameplay
If villain-trapping is kept, use old villains as well as new, like Mesmeralda (Magic) & have an even number of them, especially with all the traps produced.
NO LIGHTCORES!!!!! They were lame. The only way I could see them being used is like what they did for Giants.
Reposes?! Honestly, I think they ought to just get rid of them because they'll probably never make a S2 of Boomer, Dino-Rang, Sunburn, Voodood, Wham Shell, or Ghost Roaster.
Let's see......darn. Hit a mental roadblock.
Hate it when that happens

My List:

    PvP (we NEED it!)
    1. Missions (similar to PMD or FFT)
    2. Create your own Skylander feature (just a lite version, nothing too robust)
    3. Dual Elements
    4. Being able to pick upgrade from whatever path you want.
    5. Repose old favorites (Ghost Roaster, Sonic Boom, Zook, etc)
    6. Extended use of the Traps/Trapping.
    7. Skylanders can learn enemy skills. (be an interesting mechanic. right?)
    8. combine all maps from the past four games into an AMAZING story arc
    9. make use of the Skylanders ACADEMY!
    10. Include all hats, items, etc...

2 cents = GIVEN

Something else I'd LOVE to see in Skylanders 5: Promote Flynn, Tessa and Cali to Skylander status (Air, Life and Earth respectively) complete with figures.

Yes, let's promote these characters to Skylander status. (Sarcasm intended)

Afterall, they have earned it through their in-game actions. LOL

"Hey Skylander, you go fight and I'll stay here with my balloon."

"Hey Skylander, protect me from the Chompy Worms." While she runs ahead of you, stands by a switch, and waits for you to activate the switch that she could have.

"Hey Skylander, watch out for the (insert attack/villain of your choice)." While she stands idly by watching you do all the fighting.

For the love of all that is Holy, DO NOT promote these NPC's to Skylander status.

Oh, and let's not forget,
"Don't worry Skylander, I can help you fight the Golden Queen!" (Does pretty much nothing)

How many enchiladas can I eat in one hour? All of them.

I really like your concept! I feel the prices are a little high, but that would be up to Activision's marketing dept. They would have to make a new portal for sure that could handle ALOT of different pieces on it, (I mean, for 2 player coop, you would need it to handle two skylanders, plus eight armor pieces, [two sets for each player] plus a potential magic item, so we're talking like 11 pieces) but that might not be a bad thing. I'd be willing to buy a new portal for that! What would be nice about this, is that instead of just increasing your skylander army, you can instead have fewer figures, but put alot of love and effort into the ones you have. I've always been one for quality over quantity, so this idea caters to me.

1. Online Co-op and pvp
2. Skippable cutscenes and what people are saying even if you aren't replaying the chapter (some explanations are useless and annoying)
3. TT trinkets fixed or removed, nobody wears a badge on the back

my list of ideas. (maybe a few that are not already listed here)

1) make one of the villains from the 3DS games the main villain for the console. (wouldn't it be fun to fight Hector, Frightbeard Moneybones, and the Dream sheep on the console version?)
2) make the NPCs actually fight some enemies along side you. (there were alot of wasted opportunity where some of the NPC could've join in the fighting instead of standing around)
3) make all Heroic challenges, quests, and Survival arenas playable.
4) New enemies in Nightmare mode. (and maybe some bosses that are exclusive to Nightmare mode
5) Boss rush mode (fight all bosses from Spyro's adventure to trap team)
6) make Battle arenas based on what console you are using.
7) Make all adventure packs create new levels (could update the levels to have new puzzles and enemies)
8) Make a level based around what console you are using.
9) the ability to upgrade your Skylanders to have all their Pow wows and switch upgrade paths
10) the ability to upgrade your magic Items.
11) have Skylanders academy have some of these features. (maybe as a downloadable standalone game)

No real order
1. More Polished Combat
2. Beautiful Graphics
3. Enviroments that blend realism and fantasy
4. Heroic Challenges (Or some special missions, I don't care about the stats because the improvements are too subtle for my taste)
5. Fewer new characters
6. 16 Reposes
7. UNPOPULAR OPINION: Yes, I want a gimmick this time. (Come on, would it be a good sequel without one?)
8. Single-Player PvC (Player Vs Computer)
9. Don't put shooting mini-games at the start of levels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10. Less dark moody levels! (More levels like: Iron Jaw Gulch, Dragon's Peak, heck even, Drill X's Big Rig)

ALL THIS... except 8 it has 2 be vathek is the new villain

Everyone wants more element exclusive abilities etc swimming, breaking rocks.

I think we should take it a step further and make Element exclusive levels e.g. Underwater level for water skylanders, Volcanoes for fire . These would probly work good as adventure packs.

It'd also be cool to add element exclusive weapons . E.g. A flower gun for life.
These weapons could be less time limited or something and maybe takeover 1of the skylanders attacks

E.g. If you don't like stealth elfs "flipping" attack you could give her a flower gun to give her a new attack instead

If the game will be an open world one, I have a couple ideas:

- underwater areas and water that can be frozen for the Water characters;
- lava pits and extremely hot places, and ice that can be melted for the Fire ones;
- plants that require to be grown for the Life ones;
- "poisoned" areas, that would normally damage other characters, for the Undead ones;
- machines that require to be fixed or constructed, for the Tech characters;
- special ancient artifacts or structures that need a Magic character to work;
- destructible rocks and crystals for the Earth ones;
- flying segments and hidden floating areas for Air ones.

If a day/night cycle is implemented, It would influence the Light and Dark characters, making them stronger during the right time of the day.

Each Element could also be stronger, and weaker, against it's opposites.

Also does anyone else think that for STT they introduced mini's, villain play and light and dark elements so that VV for the next game actually has to follow these ideas? Kind of pre design the next game they don't get to make?

There's too many new concepts for VV to leave out now , if they didn't continue at least 1 of these ideas they would get totally slammed for the lack of continuity.

That is genius! I told myself that Trap Team will be my last Skylanders game, but I would totally buy that! It would be so different and unique compared to the other games! But for your air idea, not all air Skylanders can fly, for example Gusto, so they wouldn't be able to get up to the air areas.

Day and night cycles would be cool , maybe also implement random weather effects that benefit some elements (rain, wind, full/ blue moon etc. ) . maybe these spawn different enemies too .

Just something to make missions more replay able

This is one reason to support "open world"...and require some tasks/things be done at certain locations/times according to the story or task at hand. I remember when this was out way back in King's Quest IV and everyone flipped out. Sometimes, old practices can become new again.
