Will traps become irrelevent

It still makes no logical sense to release a game that allows you to trap 46 villains and then they call the idea quits. I'd seriously question my loyalty to the Skylanders brand if they didn't keep the trapping aspect in each new game. It doesn't make sense to be like, "Oh, hey we're going to allow you to trap 46 villains and that's it. Next game."

They need to allow for the trapping of new enemies per game, while introducing the new game's style of play, not begin and end at 46.

Then the game is going to be a freaking mess, if ALL if the gimmicks tag along. Up to now it was ok since the TOY/skylander was the gimmick. This is however very different to me. And I suggest it is so for a very specific reason---to make future non-support a non-issue.

Also, given the option of giving me something new vs giving me everything from all previous games + something marginal I'd go for the former.

Let's face it: the game is a thin disguise to sell the toys. I think they are perfectly fine finding a new way to have us buy new plastic on every game.

Btw, despite you not knowing about it, they are in fact "moving on" from every gimmick in terms of the unique GAME content. Luckily up to now the character has moved forward. Keeping this gimmick provides story inconsistencies in the future b/c one would assume these villains were captured and returned to prison---not forever tormented by a skylander and his traptanium trap.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

Thats because Swapping, and Being Giant are part of the TOY side
Actually Trapping Villians, is on the GAME side, along with, traptanium clusters, Swap Zones, and Feats of Strength

And at the same time, their a new character type central to the main gimmick (Don't use Lightcores as an argument, because they weren't central to the main idea)
Expecting more villians is like expecting more Giants and Swappers
Which doesn't mean old ones won't have function, just more limited. Bringing in old villians would make sense.

That doesn't even address my post, it just avoids it. I did not say anything about the in-game aspect or adding more villains, yet that's your primary focus... That's really my only gripe with your post - arguing against something I never even presented an argument for in the first place, essentially complaining to a wall (or others who actually have posted that they expect additional villains to the existing ones).

"Bringing in old villains would make sense" is basically what it boils down to, and that's my only expected feature, unless they go ahead and replace the villains with something else for the traps, like mounts or whatever. Anything additional would simply be a bonus, not an expectation. (Also, your notion of bringing in Lightcores is frankly just insulting.)

EDIT: I found the misunderstanding, my fault. Your original reply to GameMaster was worded in a way I interpreted incorrectly - it seemed like you weren't expecting traps to function whatsoever. Sorry about that. I'll keep the rest of the post anyway, since it's actually agreeing with you XP

Phoenix Crystal is the best unreleased Crystal.
Skylanders Academy Season 2 was an improvement.
I don't know what to think of Skylanders' future.

These opinions are pointless. We simply do not know if there is even going to be a Skylanders 5 yet, much yet what features will be supported. Even if we guess right, it doesn't even mean our reasoning for or against are accurate either.

Actually, making more villains for future games wouldn't be that bad of an idea. I mean, it doesn't seem likely, but it's not a bad idea. In Trap Team, three elements got five regular villains and a Doom Raider, while some got three regulars and a Doom Raider, and Magic didn't even get a Doom Raider! So if they were to introduce new villains in the next game, it should be for a reason to get all six Magic, Air, Fire, Earth, and Undead traps.

It IS possible the trap slot will stay but turn into an "accessory" slot. Maybe for weapons or vehicles?
That would keep the backwards compatibility with Traps.

This. By keeping the slot they can say traps do something even if all they do is some paltry magic effect like the old stages. The stages still technically do something--but they don't give you a stage. So the old traps still technically do something--even if they don't give you a playable villain.

Also they could actually do some cool things with an "accessory" slot. Weapons, trapped villians maybe, bring heroics back, maps, puzzles, mini games, a new type of gate.

Well, all these things you mentioned don't need an accesory slot, to be implemented in the game.

Regarding trappable villains, they are playable characters, not levels.
I would be extremely disappointed, if they didn't acted the same, in the next game.

But we are probably just worrying for nothing. smilie
