I was just thinking about all those people who didn't like the all gold Wildfire, I wonder how many of them them have already said they like this.

I'm guessing TFB aren't familiar with Nitro variants? Or they have something in store for us on this.

Krypt King doesn't have that fast of a walking speed, but his attacks are very fast, especially his regular melee and the "ghost sword."

While I don't like this Nitro variant, it is surely better looking than a completely solid golden lion.

Not even his backstory explain why he looks like that.

It was mentioned a while ago that they are branching these out into sets as people keep calling them variants.

I think it's just too much gold. All blends together and just makes the character look too sloppy, and unlike Wildfire, who has a far more jagged and angular design, Krypt King's smooth and rounder details just don't work well being all one colour. If they had inversed the colour scheme perhaps. Making the Black gold checkered, the grey black and the gold white or silver, it would have been a much nicer looking figure. The blue eyes are a nice touch though.

Really? We're going to continue the Nitro line? The Nitro variants were utterly useless in SF as there was no speed boost to them at all. The only reason they made any sense were because they were given to the two speed characters. What is their excuse this time, other than wanting more money? Unless these guys have a speed boost, the variant is utterly pointless and a shameful excuse for trying to get more money. At least giving Target a Jade line would have been better. Not sure how I feel about this.

I understand your point, but not the "excuse for trying to get more money" part.

Unlike reposes, at least variants try to change a lot the look of a character, so you could choose to but the regular Krypt King or his Nitro variant.

No need to buy the same Skylander twice.

Unless you are a maniacal collectionist, and want to buy every single character, variant, reposes and lightcores included.

It that case, I feel sorry for you and your wallet... smilie

lol! I used to be that way smilie Luckily for me, I didn't really enjoy Swap Force as much so it took that out of me. But I believe Activision is banking on those collectors who buy at least one of everything with variants. If I truly like a character, like I did with Freeze Blade, I had no problem having both the regular and the variant just for the opportunity to level them up twice and try both paths. But a Nitro one made sense for him, even if I was disappointed by the lack of extra speed. I just feel that, beyond Swap Force, this line has no point compared to other lines unless there is a speed boost this time. If there is none, then I feel it's done just to crank out more variants and make more money. It's smart business on their part because they do know there is a demographic out there for it, I just wished they picked a better line for Target to have (such as more Jade characters) so it didn't seem so obvious to me.

I'm torn. I want to like it but it also looks really cheap. The original is far more appealing to the eye.
