Depends on your definition of "better". The PS4/Xbox One versions are slightly better graphically, but the Wii U version has some (to me) invaluable exclusive features, like Off-TV Play and a Miiverse community. So while the PS4/Xbox One versions have, as said, a slight upper hand when it comes to graphics, I'd say that the Wii U version has a clear upper hand when it comes to gameplay and the game experience in general, which is far more important to me. :)

And while better graphics would be lovely, it's slight enough that (for me personally) the wii u's ability to play offtv takes the cake.
Just being able to lay in bed with tons of blankets and playing on the gamepad is amazing.

The PS4 Does off TV play as well if you have a vita.

This is true, although it's generally not as good as the Wii U Off-TV Play - and on a smaller screen, too.

Not to mention I can never seem to get the hang of using a Vita as a controller comfortably (and believe me; I've tried...) whereas the Wii U GamePad is one of my favourite controllers of all time.
Also, the Wii U version still has the Miiverse community as a definitive exclusive feature. Miiverse compatibility alone is usually enough for me to prefer the Wii U versions of all multi-platform games when possible, really.

I'm trying HARD to figure out what system t get this for. This also factors in plans to get DI2.0.

*Deleted*
Start over. Upstairs I have X360 w/ all 3 Skylander games + figures.

Basement I have PS3 with DI & SF, Wii U w/ Giants, an HTPC, and my XBOne.

PS4 is in the plans, but not till 2015 (not enough games 'sorry').

Most likely, I'll want the new game downstairs, and without a PS4 yet, its either XBOne, Wii U or PS3.

I'd graphics wise, prefer my XBOne, but it only has one USB port, so that owuld force me to get a hub, and then liter my TV stand with ANOTHER portal since the Wii U has one and the PS3 has one - not including the existing DI one.

If I get it on the Wii U, I can multi-task, though I find the system underwhelming in most every department, however - like I said I can multi-task AND I'll just get rid of the existing Giants portal.

I cna go PS3, but I wouldn't be getting the graphics of the XBOne, yet on the plus side - there would be no 'new' portals as for both DI and TT, I cna just swap out hte portals that I currently have.

so I'm not sure right now, which way I'm going to go. I'm leaning towards doing everything on the XBOne and just ridding myself of the portals for the PS3, and then, if I DO like TT, doing like I did with SF and getting a second copy when it's half price or less (preordered dark for SF and then bought a regular copy from Costco for like $30 a few months ago) and using that on the X360 upstairs.

With no online to speak of, for Trap Team for the WiiU is my choice. The WiiU is a bit more powerful than my other options (360, PS3 & Wii) and Swap Force played and looked really well on it. Not to mention the WiiU is essentially my kid's system, so I prefer to get games for them on it when there is no other compelling reason.

DI 2.0 is pre-ordered on the 360. XBox has, by far, the best network infrastructure. It is nice when you have online features, including downloadable levels, online Toy Box play and they actually patch this game from time to time. Also, I have the previous one for 360, so it limits the number of portals I have to have out and plugged in. Online communities also seem to last much longer on the 360.

All of this said, I don't have a PS4 or XBOne, but am planning to get a XBOne for the family for Christmas (hoping for good BF deals). I might end up cancelling my Target Trap Team Dark pre-order and skipping on the $25 off and then hope for a good BF deal, then get it for the XBOne.

Keep checking Slickdeals.net, when it was going for $500 w/ Kinect they'd have it for like $450 with TWO games.

I hadn't thought about online aspects...that makes me lean towards M$ hardware as I feel the same way you do.

Really? I keep thinking that's what my Kinect plugged into (the Kinect uses 2 USB3.0 busses if I recall) (it's been a long while since I've been back there). That's REALLY good to know now haha. Thanks.

Every Wii U game and almost every 3DS game has its own specific Miiverse community where people can discuss the game and post screenshots or drawings. It's more fun than it sounds (especially because I suck at explaining things...)!

I love using it to post about my achievements or just cool things I find in my games, and if I ever get stuck or have any questions about a game, I can post there and usually get help within minutes. Also, I often like just using it to read other posts and look at screenshots and/or drawings, and of course help others when I can.
Many game developers also use their Miiverse boards to post official announcements and messages to the players, and some even host game competitions!
And it is of course seamlessly integrated, so it can be opened without closing the game or diverting your attention from the console. :)

I honestly didn't believe the "free WiiU version with Wii" thing but just looked on Amazon and the box does indeed say it includes a download code!!!

That sold it for me, I will buy the Wii version and never play it because it means I get a digital version of the WiiU one.
I HATE Swapping disks and it will make things a lot easier to have it as a download rather than a disk.

I was wondering about the reasons for giving the digital code for WiiU with the Wii version, but it's obvious.

Nintendo want people to upgrade. Not losing your favourite game or having to re buy it? Makes that decision a LOT easier.

Considering how much of a massive seller on the Wii Skylanders is it's honestly no surprise that they are trying to use it as a way to get people to upgrade.

I got a WiiU and don't regret it.
FireMeowth Emerald Sparx Gems: 3230
#85 Posted: 17:59:21 01/09/2014
Well, you wouldn't lose the game nor the ability to play it anyways, considering that the Wii U can play all Wii games, but yeah - people who buy the Wii version of Trap Team will probably be more inclined to upgrade considering they'll get a Wii U game for free.

It also helps demonstrate the jump in power when they do upgrade, as they'll be able to directly compare the two versions and see firsthand how much better the Wii U version is. Not sure if Nintendo/Activision thought that far ahead (though I assume they probably did), but that could also help spread good word about the console. It'll pretty much be a win-win situation for everyone involved.
