Another "both" here!
Actually, I've got two 3DSes - a regular 3DS and a 3DS XL (kept the old one after upgrading to the XL, for StreetPass purposes). Bought them all at launch, too.

The Wii U is my favourite console of all time, and the 3DS XL is either at or at least very close to the top of my list of favourite handhelds, alongside the DSi XL. smilie

Wow. you have them both. The Wii U is also my favorite console at the time.

I have Wii U. I wanted a 3DS last year for Christmas but got an iPod instead.

Both, and I have got to say, the Wii U is by far the most innovative this generation of gaming. The PS4 and XBOX One have stayed closer to their older counterparts, while the Wii U takes the Wii, and makes it 100x better with the GamePad.

This is sooo true!
I personally feel that the Wii U is the only console this generation that actually provides a true "next-gen" experience. The many wonderful features of the Wii U GamePad - Off-TV Play, Miiverse (technically not GamePad-exclusive, but lord knows it wouldn't have worked anywhere near as well if not for the GamePad), and even something as simple as the touch screen have all contributed greatly to making my Wii U gaming experiences feel truly unique and revolutionary - to the point where I struggle to imagine playing (or at least enjoying) console games without these features!*

* The only non-Wii U console game I've really played for any considerable length of time since the launch of the Wii U is Ni no Kuni. My most recurring thought during my 250+ hours of playtime? "Man, I wish this was a Wii U game so I could play it on my GamePad." smilie
Off-TV Play feels especially perfect for JRPG grinding.

(...I'd buy it again, Level-5. Bamco. Please...)
