Welcome to Survivor: Ultra Super Deluxe Edition

How the game works
Survivor is primarily a trivia game. There are multiple rounds. Each round will be divided into a Day Phase and a Night Phase. During the Day Phase you compete in a trivia challenge to ensure you get to stay in the game. At Night, you will vote off your competitors. The aim is to be the last man, woman, or alien creature (if that's your style) left seated at your computer screen.

Be sure to read the rules for each challenge carefully and ask any questions that you might have. I don't intentionally try to trick you, but sometimes players screw up because they don't read the rules carefully.

You will always submit your answers for a challenge AND your votes by PM. If you're foolish and decide to post them in the game's official topic you're giving everyone else a free pass to steal those answers. And if you really goof and post your vote in the topic, well you're probably going to make an enemy.

That sounds boring. Is there anything else to this?
Why yes there is, annoying bold-face text! Each of you will be assigned a role for this game. The roles are characters from the universe that is serving as our game's theme. The roles are assigned randomly, using your sign-up number and the magical Random Number Generator. So if you figure out the theme, don't go asking to be a specific character.

Now every role comes with different abilities that can alter some aspect of the game. It's up to you to use those abilities strategically to give you a leg up on the competition. Along with your abilities, you will receive an UPGRADE CONDITION. It's a tough challenge that, if you successfully complete, will give your character a permanent upgrade to its abilities. So I highly encourage you to work to fulfill your Upgrade Condition.

The abilities and Upgrade Conditions will be explained to you privately in a Role PM, which will give you all the details about your character. You may NOT reveal your role in the topic and quoting your Role PM in the topic at any time will result in a very heavy penalty. You can however reveal your role and abilities to other players through PMs, which may be useful if you're looking to form an alliance. However that might not be such a good idea this season, because...

This will be a classic showdown of GOOD VS. EVIIIIIIIIIIL!
Technically, you are all on your own for this game. You will all compete in every challenge as individuals. But, to spice things up, there are overarching teams. Along with your character, you will receive a team assignment of either GOOD or EVIL. You will NOT be told who your teammates are.

So, now we have 2 ways to win Survivor. The first way is to make it to the end. The alternative way is to eliminate every single player on the other team. This is designed to add some new strategy to the game. Do you risk telling another player your alignment? Because there's a 50-50 chance that person is actually on the opposing team. And how aggressive will you be with your abilities when there's a 50% chance you're targeting a teammate? That's all up to you!

This game uses flavor text. It turns the game into a story and is supposed to be fun and amusing. Unlike other seasons, I will be writing the flavor text in a script/dialogue format. Why? Because the character limit has caused me enough of a headache. *sigh* With that in mind, if we're really going to have this many people actively participate, do not be offended if I forget to put you into the flavor text. Consider it a motivation to make it far into the game!

Anyhow, if you have any questions about the game, feel free to ask them. I will make another post when I start to send our role PMs. Also, the hint for this season's theme is a part of this post. Have fun figuring it out. ^.^

Update: Half of the roles for Team EVIL are done, along with all the roles for Team GOOD. Ideally, I'll be able to start sending them out tomorrow or Tuesday. We won't start right away though, because I want people to confirm their roles.
