That sounds intricate to code. The only viable possibility would be to have a moderator for role-playing, but seeing how there hasn't been a moderator yet, the chances are slim. There are better places to role-play than here if you want to look for someplace else.

Not the only thing that got ignored. Dark52 ignores a lot around here. I mean, he's only one man, but even an "I'll think about it," or "That's not possible," would be better than nothing at all.

I've come to make use of the "multi-quote" button you see in many other forums. You would click this button for whatever posts you want to refer to, then hit "reply" - then all of the quotes from the respective posts will show up. Is this viable here? It would make responding to multiple posts much easier.

Gems aren't for spending, they're more of a mark as to how long you've been here. And why would you need to BUY an avatar? Just go find one/make one yourself.

Not saying I agree with spending gems but if their there to mark how long we've been here why is it randomiozed? Why not just have a thing saying how mnay days they've been on ds?

What about if they use spending gems and normal gems?

what about 3 different types pf gems? dark gems, light gems and normal gems? the current gems could be replaced by light gems you can get every saturday and you can get normal gems to spend each sunday. the dark gems are notifications of off-topic, breaking rules, ect. and not all of us have gimp, yknow. *thinks tha wants animated avi without gimp because of mum*

How about a post rating system?

I would idea is that people would be able to rate posts of other users (either on a scale of 1 to 5 or just "good" and "bad"), and for users that get a lot of high/good ratings to get bonus gems at the end of the week. Possibly users with a large number of low/bad ratings might get less/lose gems. In order to limit abuse, it should be limited to users that have been here a while (say Green Sparx and up) so that it is not easy to create extra accounts to boost your ratings and lower those of others. Possibly votes could be weighted based on the rank of the voter.

This would help encourage better posts on the forum. I know it would take a lot of work to implement, but seems like something worth considering to me.

Sounds like an idea that could be put to vigorous use haha. The problem though is that gems are purely based upon your activity on the forums and does nothing detrimental really. I don't see much of an incentive to keep people from making bad posts. Also, I see this as a very long detour from what a mod would be able to achieve effectively, but I guess the latter option doesn't exist. Overall, I question the effectiveness of the system and if complicated to implement, not worth it.

If it was implemented then gems would become in part a rating of how good a user is, though dark52 could create a new stat that measures the ratings their posts get. Even if there is not real penalty or benifent associated with it, simply having a way to show how great of a user you are may give some people a reason to try to do a good job.

There is more that can be done with such a system, but I just wanted to get the general idea out there.

There are three ways that come to mind:

1)
The total for the votes of a user is added up over a week, and then when it comes time for gems to be given out the number a user gets will be adjusted according to how their posts have been recieved.

2)
Each member would have a "reputation" stat (though it would likely be called something else) in addition to gems and post count, which would be adjusted whenever a vote is made. High/good votes would raise it and low/bad votes would lower it.

3)
Something similar to the game ratings, only the votes would be made on a users posts, and the average score of the votes would be shown in their profile. This would indicate the overall quality of their posts.

Ultimately, I am just suggesting that some system be put in place to promote good and thoughtful posts over spam / trolling by giving a value for "good" a user's posts are.
