“And you are…?” asked Blaze.
“My name doesn’t concern you right now. There is something big going on and you need to get to Rougestone and relay this message.” the dragon said.
“Why can’t you do it?” Blade asked
“Because now is not the time for me to reveal myself to him.”
“Then what is the message?”
“Come here, fox, and I will tell you.”
Blaze started over towards the dragon.
“Are you sure that this is a good idea?” Alacrity asked him.
“Why not? I know what I am doing.”
Blaze made it over to the dragon and the dragon whispered something to him.
“He will get it.” Blaze replied to the dragon

Blaze turned to Alacrity and started towards her.
“Well?” she asked him.
“We have to find Rougestone.”
Blaze turned back to the dragon, but the dragon was gone.
“Do you know where to start?” Blaze asked Alacrity.
“I might, but they probably aren’t there.”
She led Blaze to where Sapphire stayed when the eggs hatched.
“This is where they were staying, but it looks like they left already. Sapphire probably wanted the kids to be safe, which means that they know.”
“First off, kids? Second, that would mean that they had encounters with others that were like Lerna. That is not good.”
“What did that dragon say to you, Blaze?”
“He told me to only tell Rougestone and that is what I intend on doing.”
“Ok, well let’s go inside and see if there is anyone inside. We can’t assume that no one is here from the outside.”
Blaze nodded in agreement and they both went inside. As they did, someone that was watching them from the third story turned to someone else.
“They are here.” he said to the other being in the room.

“I don’t see them.” commented Blaze
They were now in the somewhat large room that the eggs had hatched in.
“Neither do I.” Alacrity added.
“Neither do we.”
They both turned to see Sarge and Surge standing in a far off doorway.
“Nice to see you guys again.” Surge said in a really fast voice. “Now can we?! Now can we?! Now can we?!” he started asking Sarge while jumping up and down on his back.
“Fine, now we can.” Sarge answered
Blaze and Alacrity just looked at each other. They were maybe fifteen feet from the bison and Blaze had a feeling that he knew what Surge meant.

“Do you mean what I think you mean, Blaze?”
“Yes.”
“You want the big guy?” Alacrity asked him.
“Sure, why not?” he asked as his fur combusted into flames.
“NOW?! NOW?! NOW?!” Surge asked, now yelling.
“Yes, just get on with it and get off of me!” Sarge answered.
“YES!” the lemur yelled as he leapt of off Sarge and charged at Alacrity.
“You can have the fiery one!” he yelled when he was half way to where Alacrity was.
“Great.” Sarge said as he too charged them, but his target was Blaze.

Alacrity looked over at Blaze and nodded. She then ran towards Surge and went for a tackle. Surge jumped over her and landed on her back.
“Giddy Up!!” Surge yelled as he latched onto her back.
“I am not a horse!” Alacrity said as she tried slamming Surge into a wall after running around for a couple of seconds. Surge just cackled as Alacrity tried to get him off.
Blaze had Sarge charging at him and he was close to a wall but didn’t move. Sarge kept going and came about three feet from Blaze when he sidestepped. Sarge shot clean past Blaze and couldn’t stop in time; he busted straight through the wall. Sarge was fortunate due to the fact that they were on the first floor and not the second or third. Blaze turned to the crater sized hole in the wall and walked through it.
Alacrity slammed her back into the nearest wall to try and get Surge off. She hit him, but he wouldn’t let go.
“That wasn’t nice.” Surge said in his inaudible voice as he used one of his limbs to strike at her side.
“Cut that out!”
“Why?!”
Alacrity then ran up stairs into another room. This room, however, appeared to be under some kind of construction. There was no sign of significant damage to the room yet it had everything in it that you would need to fix a wall. Over at one of the inner walls was a hole the size of Sarge blown clean through. Only, whoever was working on the building had already started to mend it. There was a small amount of metal work that had been started but was nowhere near being complete. The hole in the wall was just big enough for only Alacrity to get through; the rest was blocked by a small amount of metal bars that were protruding from the wall. She sprinted for the opening and before Surge could realize what she was doing, he was flat on his back with an imprint of a bar running diagonal down his face.

Blaze stepped through the hole in the wall and looked ahead to the trail that Sarge had left.
“The big guy’s got to watch himself.” Blaze said to himself as he walked farther out into the street area.
“I’d be more concerned about myself if I were you.” Sarge was dangerously close to Blaze on his right.
He charged and just missed by an inch. He had gotten close enough that some of his hair was singed.
“Are you just going to charge around and hope to hit me?”
“If I do, what are the chances of you hitting me?”
“Touché, well then this is going to go nowhere fast.”
“You might think that. You’d be surprised.”
“Then show me.”

“Do you know what you are getting into, kid?”
“To tell you the truth, no I do not. That doesn’t matter to me, though.”
“It should.”
“All you are is talk. Like I said; show me.”
“Kids……”
The bison went out of view.
“Now where did he go?”
“Did your father ever tell you why I was partnered with Surge? It wasn’t s that he didn’t have to walk. No, that is far from the truth. And what you saw during that brief fight outside the city walls was nothing. I can do so much more. I don’t have any so called ‘abilities’ like you or your girlfriend in there.”
“Hold up! She isn’t my girlfriend! Why is everyone saying that?!”
“Ok, then your not-girlfriend, I don’t have anything like you guys have, but for some reason I can do this.”
Sarge came inches away from Blaze again without him even knowing it and took a very sharp turn without loosing control.
“Ok, but before we get into anything; why did you include Alacrity when you said ‘ability’?”
“You mean you don’t know? I know that the commanders kept it a secret just like your little trick, but I figured that she would have told by now.’
“Told me what?”
“I guess that I could explain it to you. Ever since she was little, she has been able to run exceedingly fast. So when she was growing up, we gave a simple obstacle course to run and she passed it with flying colors. Your father then informed us of what he though was the answer. But before he told us of what he thought of her, he told us about you.”
“He told me no one knew.”
“No one but the commanders. Now let me finish since you’ve already got me started.”
Sarge was standing maybe fifteen feet away from Blaze as he finished his story.
“Your father informed us that his only son had once accidently caught fire when one of the torches that light up the town at night toppled over and landed on you. You were a new born when this happened which is why you probably don’t remember. He told us that instead of crying or yelling, you just looked up at your dad and laughed something fierce.”
“That is enough about me. I have my father to tell me about that.”
“Do you?”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Now your father hypothesized that Alacrity had enhanced muscle strength due to some of the things that she can do. Do you wonder why she could easily pin Lerna down with no trouble? It’s not easy to do that.”
“Hey, how do you know that happened and go back to my dad, what were you saying about him.”
“I will answer those two things at once; you will find out soon enough. I am done talking.”

“You know, somehow I’m done talking too. Let’s go.”
“It’s about time.”
Sarge “disappeared” again and left Blaze out in the open.
“This is going to be fun.” Blaze said to himself.
Sarge was just giving Blaze time to start to feel comfortable without anything happening. Blaze didn’t fall for anything and he stayed alert the entire time. Sarge then charged Blaze from behind but Blaze could hear him coming. Instead of sidestepping, he jumped into the air and landed on his back. When he did, he burn Sarge’s back and lit some of his hair on fire.
“Very nice, Blaze. Now keep it coming.”
“What do you mean by that?” Blaze asked while still on his back.
“You think that hurts?” Sarge asked just before he ran into a wall.

“Rougestone, I don’t need help from you. I had it under control.”
“I could see that but we don’t need any unnecessary fighting.”
“What?”
Sarge was on the ground knocked out. The wall that Rougestone had made was too hard to break through.
“Even if you are able to get him to a point where he cannot fight, he is just going to get away.”
“You mean like Lerna did?”
“So you have been pretty busy lately.”
“You could say that. Yeah, Lerna got away in some shadow thing.”
“That is how they have all been getting away.”
“All?”
“Yeah, we have to talk; all of us.”
“If you are going to watch Sarge here, I’ll go see if Alacrity is alright.”
“She’s here too?”
“Yeah, but it is a long story. I’ll be back.”
Blaze didn’t get rid of the flames and went into the building through the hole in the wall. He went up stairs to look for Alacrity when she met him there about half way up.
“Surge is gone.” she told him.
“Gone? Shadow again?”
“Yep, I took a moment to rest after he was gone and I was just coming down to see where you were. Where’s Sarge? Did the shadow get him too?”
“No it didn’t get him, at least not yet. Rougestone is with him right now.”
“Rougestone?”
“Yeah, I don’t know how he found us, but he did.”
“And how do you know if that is really Rougestone?”
“Come again?”
“How do you know if that is really him? He could be like the others.”
“The same way that I know that you aren’t like the others.” As he said this he pointed to his eyes with one of his paws. “You didn’t notice that there was something wrong with all of their eyes?”
“I guess not. Let’s go then.”
Blaze nodded and they both went outside to where Rougestone was waiting.

“So what’s up, Rougestone?” they both asked him as they came out.
“We’ll talk, just not here. We have to go get Bluefire. We split up to find you two.”
“Why?” asked Blaze.
“Like I said, we will talk about it later.”
“Well, what now?” asked Alacrity.
“Our friend is still here, so he should be leaving soon.”
No sooner did he say that, Sarge was taken by a shadow.
“Are you going after him?” asked Blaze.
“And what would that accomplish? If I follow him and find out who or what is doing this, that is great, but how would I get back? We have to plan this out. Let’s just find Bluefire and go from there.”
“And how do you plan on doing that?” asked Blaze.
“You know very well how we are going to.” Rougestone answered him.

“It is still worth a try.”
“Come on, we have to get going.”
“I’d rather walk.”
“I thought that you were over this.” Rougestone said to Blaze.
Alacrity was standing closer to Rougestone and Blaze was a couple feet away from the two. Alacrity turned to Rougestone,
“I guess that he’s not over it.” she said to him.
“I guess not, but it is the fastest way to where we are going.”
“And where is that?” asked Blaze.
‘The conference room.” he replied.
“Great, I’ll see you guys there.”
“No, you are coming with us. I came out here to find you two and you aren’t going out there alone.”
“And why not? You aren’t my father; I don’t have to listen to you.”
“And if you don’t listen to me now, you might not have your father to tell you anything later.”
Blaze was quiet for a moment.
“You mean that you haven’t figured out that the only ones that are like what Lerna, Sarge, and Surge are like, are all commanders? You think that you have figured everything out, but you haven’t. That is why we need to go now and together. Whoever is doing this, now knows that you two might have something to contribute to whatever cause they have.”
“You mean…?” started Alacrity
“Yes, I know about both of you. So are you coming or not, Blaze?”
“Yeah, let’s go.” he said after being quiet during Rougestone’s brief explanation.
