“No, I think that I have accomplished everything that I intended on doing here. This wasn’t supposed to be a long visit. It was nice to see you, Rougestone.”
A circular shadow appeared on the ground, just large enough for the size of Darkmatter. It started to swallow him into the ground.
On his way down, he managed to say, “Until next time, Rougestone.” And then he was gone.

“What the heck was that? Something is going on and I am now right in the middle of it all. First things first, I have to go and check on the kids.” Rougestone said to himself as he left the room and out into the plaza. He took off towards where Sapphire was with the kids. Everything looked the same as it was the day before. Roughstone guessed that it was meant to look like that. He made it back with no problems and went inside.
“You could have told me that I was an uncle.” he heard from the other room.
“Bluefire.” he thought to himself.

“Uncle? Uncle? Come on Sapphire, I just found out that you two were married and now you are telling me that you’re a mother?”
“I can show you, too, if you want me to.”
“Come on, they’ve already hatched too?”
“Uncle!” chirped Lunar as Sapphire showed him the kids.
“Two? Dad is going to have a cow!”
“So? It is my decision on whether or not to have kids, not his.”
“I just don’t want to be there when he finds out. He hasn’t seen you in years and you are going to show up with a husband and two kids?”
“I can’t change anything that has happened, nor do I want to. He is either going to accept it or he isn’t. That is his problem, not mine.”
“It’s going to be your problem if you go up to him after not seeing him for ten years and say to him, ‘Hi grandpa’. How do you think that he is going to react?”
“You mean to tell me that my father hasn’t mellowed out after ten years? Look at Rouge; he has some of the same aspects that he had as a teen, but he has matured and so have I.”
“What does that have to do with dad? He is still the same as he was ten years ago.”
“I highly doubt that.”
“You’d be surprised.”
“Really, Bluefire? He can’t be as stuck up as he was all of those years ago. Has he even accepted Rouge as my traveling partner yet?”
“I do think that he has gotten over the fact that you left with him; yes I think that he has gotten over it.”
“I think that you are making it seem worse than it really is.”
“Believe what you want to. I am just saying that I don’t want to be there when he receives the news.”
“No one said that you did.”
Bluefire then noticed Rougestone standing at the door.
“Rougestone, why didn’t you tell me about this when you told me that you guys were married?”
“I only found out a short time ago and have been busy with other things. I wanted to wait for them to hatch, and I was going to go and tell you today but I ran into a little trouble.” Rougestone answered him.
“What kind of trouble because there is something else that need to talk to you about. I originally came to speak to you about it, but then I got caught up in the whole ‘uncle’ thing.”
Rougestone told him what happened in the conference room and Bluefire did the same and told his story.
“Something is definitely going on and I have to find out what.”
“You? Mr. Adventure over here. You mean that we have to figure it out.” Bluefire said in an irritated and sarcastic tone. “I am not going to backseat this one.”
“You bring up the past way too fast, Bluefire. The reason that you didn’t do anything the last time that we saw each other was due to the fact that you were too young.”
“Well now I’m not. I’d appreciate if you included all of us.”
“You mean the two of us. Sapphire needs to take care of the kids. I am not going to leave the kids alone.”
“Fine, however you want to put it, I want in.”
“I know that. I was there when first introduced yourself and you insisted on helping.”
“Now who am I sounding like, huh?”
“I didn’t say that you couldn’t help, and I know that that sounds like me.”
“Maybe you two should stop arguing and actually talk to each other. There will be time for personal matters later.” Sapphire interrupted.
“She is right, although there is one personal matter that needs to be taken care of; where are we going to keep the kids while this is going on? It is only a matter of time before something else happens here.” Rougestone replied.
“I know what to do with the kids; you just work with Bluefire on this.” Sapphire said as she got up and walked towards Rougestone, “I know exactly where we can go. You should be able to figure it out, Rouge.”
She gave him a small kiss and turned to the kids, “Let’s go you two.” she said as she walked past Rougestone.
Lunar and Solar happily obliged and followed her out.
“Where are they going?” Bluefire asked Rougestone.
“I think I know.”
“I hope you know.”

“So, where do we start?” asked Bluefire.
“I am not sure. Something is bound to happen if they have the commanders. I think that the first thing that we need to do is find Blaze and Alacrity.”
“Alacrity?”
“I’ll explain on the way.” Rougestone said as he walked out of the room and took off.
“Explain what?!” Bluefire yelled from the doorway. He just shook his head and flew after Rougestone.

“So what are you going to explain to me?” asked Bluefire
“I just realized that what I was going to talk to you about can wait until later. We have to find Blaze and Alacrity.”
“Isn’t Blaze the young fox that wouldn’t keep his mouth close at our last meeting?”
“Yeah, that’s him.”
“So who is Alacrity?”
“I don’t know much about her, but what I do know is that she is a yellowish colored fox that helped us out.”
“If that is not a reason enough to find her, I don’t know what is.”
“Yeah, I just hope that they are okay.”
“Since you seem to know what Alacrity looks like, why don’t you go look for her and I’ll go look for the kid.”
“But you’re right here.” Rougestone said
“Going back to old nicknames Mr. Rougestone?” Bluefire replied in the same tone of voice that Rougestone had used.
“I just find it funny how you are now using the same nickname that you never seemed to like.”
“Right, well you can’t really call me kid anymore. On the other hand, I can still call you Mr. Rougestone.”
“True, you can still call me that, but just because I can’t call you kid anymore doesn’t mean that I can’t come up with another nickname for you. Alright, enough remembering, let’s go find them.”
“You’ve got a point on both of those things,” admitted Bluefire “Let’s go.”
They both flew off into different directions to where their targets were seen last by them.

“Because I want to. Is that a problem?”
“Yes, it is getting annoying.”
“Come on, now, I am not that annoying am I?”
“You can be.”
“Come on Blaze, I’m not that bad.”

“Look, Alacrity, I don’t have time for whatever it is that you want from me.”
“Oh, I don’t want anything from you; I just want to hang out with you.”
“Why does it seem like you always want to hang out?”
“Because I do always want to hang out with you.”
“We are going to have to change that.”
“Why?”
“That is why.”
“What?”
“Never mind, it’s not important.”
“No, what is it?”
“We can talk later once we find some of the others.”
“Yeah, where did everyone go?”
“If I knew, we wouldn’t be looking for them right now.”
‘Really, Blaze? Do you have to act this way?”
“If you don’t like the way that I act, then leave.”
“I’m not going anywhere…” she found herself walking ahead of him and turned back to see if he was still behind her. He was but he wasn’t saying anything. “You alright, Blaze?” she asked
“.........no.........” he said in a raspy voice.

He just shook his head.
“Blaze?” she asked again
This time he managed to point to his neck with one of his front paws.
“What? I don’t see anything.”
He started to frantically continue to point to his throat.

“Snake?”
“How did I get the ssssslow one?”
Alacrity could barely notice the body of a snake coiled around Blaze’s throat. His fur hid the snake to where she was almost invisible. A snake’s head slithered up onto Blaze’s head and rested there.
“Your girlfriend is not too bright, now is she?” Lerna asked Blaze.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, I am not his girlfriend!”
“You could have fooled me. Anyway, your friend here doesn’t have much time until he runs out of air. I could just kill him now, but I want to see what feeble attempts you use to try and save him with.”
“This is going to be fun.” Alacrity said in a sarcastic tone.

“The first thing that I have to do is get her off of Blaze. Then I can deal with her without worrying about Blaze.” Alacrity said to herself.
“Time’s ticking, fox!” Lerna called to her.
Blaze just sat down and regulated his breathing as best he could. Now that Alacrity knew about Lerna, he could now focus on that.
“I have to get her to ease up on his neck, and fast. She said that she was only messing with me and that she could kill him at anytime. I just have to find a way of doing that without harming Blaze in the process.” Alacrity continued thinking.
“All I need is one good breath of air………” Blaze thought to himself

Alacrity decided not to try a direct approach since Lerna could just tighten and kill Blaze before she could get anywhere near him. So she kicked a rock at Lerna and hit her in the head.
“A rock? Come on now. Let’s get more real shall we?”
As she said that, she tightened on Blaze.
“Now, child, you don’t want him to die now do you? Oh well.”
She started tightening more and more on Blaze’s neck.
“I’d give him a minute. Any longer and he’s gone.”
“Aren’t you going to let him speak once before he dies?”
“Now why would I do that?”
“Well, remember he is my boyfriend, and you are going to just kill him without letting him say good bye?”
“That doesn’t sound like a bad idea.” she said tightening more.
“I’d guess about thirty seconds.” she added.
“If you won’t let him go to talk, would you let him go, only for a second, to give me a kiss?”
“You really are some desperate fox, darling.” Lerna said.
Alacrity didn’t like that she called her darling.
“Seeing you begging in some way is easing my grip. Two seconds, that is all that you’ve got.”

“That is all the time that I need.” Alacrity said as she started towards Blaze. “Are you going to let up on him?”
Learna let up a tiny bit, to where the color on Blaze’s face started to return.
“Can you breathe?” Alacrity asked as she got closer.
“Just… enough…to talk.” Blaze grinned at her. “Two seconds…is all…that I need.”
He took a deep enough breath and closed his mouth again.
“Here I am trying to give you a moment with your girlfriend and you just sit here and…”
Blaze just ignited on fire. Lerna quickly let go quickly and flew off of Blaze into a heap on the ground.
“I needed oxygen to be able to do that.”
Alacrity just stood there and stared at the flames.
“Well, I guess that I have some explaining to do.” He said to her.
She just nodded her head.

“We will talk about this later. We have other things that we have to worry about at the moment.” Blaze said to Alacrity while he was still engulfed in flames. “One quick question, though; how did you know that I could do this?”
“I didn’t, I was just trying to buy you some time.” she managed to get out.
“Well this is a little awkward.”
“You’re telling me. Now, what did you mean by other things?”
“For one thing, Lerna is behind you.”
Lerna was ready to strike at Alacrity. She did, but Alacrity sidestepped and slammed her front paw down on Lerna right behind her head. She kept her pinned to the ground to where she couldn’t move.
“Now who has who, darling?” Alacrity said mocking Lerna.
“Don’t think that it will be that easy to kill me.” she said.
“Who said anything about killing you?” asked Blaze.
Her eyes were now more apparent and the shadow that consumed them. She writhed under Alacrity’s grip but it was useless, Alacrity had a better leverage on her.
“Then what do you want from me you sssson of-?”
Alacrity cut her off by putting more pressure on her.
“Now, now, Lerna, there is no need for that kind of language.” Alacrity said to her.
“Alacrity, don’t forget that there are others that could be under this…this…I don’t know what to call it.” Blaze said.
“What are you talking about?” she asked Blaze.
“Just look at her eyes, they aren’t normal.”
“Is it that obvious what I am doing?” Lerna said in an irritated tone.
“The shadow pretty much gives it away.”
“Whether or not it is obvious that I have control over Lerna, that won't help you with what I am planning.” Lerna continued.

“That is not Lerna.”
“What do you mean by that, Blaze?”
“Alacrity, when have you known one of the commanders to attack someone else on their side?”
“Never.”
“That is my point.”
“Well, if it is not Lerna, why don’t we just get rid of it.”
“No, something doesn’t seem right. Don’t do anything that you might regret, Alacrity.”
“I know, Blaze. You don’t have to remind me.”
“It doesn’t hurt to say it again.”
“Look, let’s leave the past behind us. I am not going to bring that up again, especially right now.”
While Alacrity and Blaze were talking, a circular shadow appeared on the ground right next to Lerna, it was just big enough for her to slither down if she got free from Alacrity’s grip.
“Oh, and just so you know, Alacrity, I wouldn’t let go of Lerna anytime soon.”
“Okay, I wasn’t going to.”
“Well there is another reason not to.” he said as he gestured to the shadow.

She shifted to look over at it and unknowingly released some of the pressure that she had on Lerna. The snake just looked up at her and made a lunge for the hole.
“Alacrity!” Blaze shouted as he shot fire at the hole to try and stop Lerna from making it. She made it, but was burned on her tail.
“I told you not to let her go.”
“I didn’t, she got loose.”
“Ugh, it doesn’t matter now. The point is that she’s gone.”
“If it helps; sorry.”
“It is not going to get her back. What was up with her?” he asked as he extinguished the flames.
“I have no clue.” Alacrity admitted.
“I might.” said another voice.
