"Nah, I already ate some. They taste better when they are wet with the rain." Sholeh said, trying to be as casual as possible. She didn't know if Sayan hated her or not, but she was determined to find out during that conversation.

As they talked, Sayan appeared to almost study the mongoose. "I'm merely curious, but have you seen... anything strange possibly related to the rumor?," he then asked out of concern.

"Don't tell me there is still paranoia over that?" Sholeh said annoyed, having thought that the worries about that were over.
"I did saw the foliage behind me move strangely the other day, but then I figured it must have been one of the warblers trying to scare me. They still hate me you know. Or that jerk Mambo. Everybody knows he loves to pull mean pranks on everybody." Sholeh said, imagining that must be it. She couldn't take a good look on what was behind the foliage that day, so she believed it was somebody playing a practical joke.

"You're right... I'm sure its just a rumor.," Sayan said not wanting to worry Sholeh.. and also hoping to slightly reassure himself. "And you know those warblers just like to have fun. They can be quite machievious when they want to be.,"he added.

Jack faces Yodel and yells "shut the **** up! I wasn't speaking to you! and don't you dare i repeat DON'T YOU DARE CALL ME A LIER!!! I AM MANY THING BUT A LIER ISN'T ONE OF THEM!! I just can't believe I forgot about that crocs nose. it wouldn't have mattered if it one statue of you or an army of the whole Haven. that croc could smell the fact you were their. oh and fyi I have statues of nearly every haven resident with the exception of most of the warblers, marine animals, hunted residents and the wolverine. so don't blame my statues when it was your scent that gave it all away!"

"DON'T YOU INSULT ME ON MY OWN HOME. AND LIKE I SAID, THE BET IS OFF!" Yodel yelled, not believing that his scent could be that strong enough for a crocodile to follow.

All the enraged yelling was sending the keas in an uproar, so Cole, who was currently in charge, had to interfere.
"Now see here! What's all this yelling about? If you can't discuss your problems like civilized creatures, then head someplace else." The bulky kea said, hating heated confrontations.

"Ah, right on time. Mr. Cole, if you please. Escort the chimpanzee out of my property. Someone who swears and insults at the same time doesn't deserve any sympathy." he said with a glare towards Jack, hating him now more than ever.

Sholeh wasn't interested in talking about the warblers, so she changed the subject herself.
"Well whoever pulled the prank, it has a nasty sense of humor. But enough about that! Where is Rose with the egg? I think I deserve at least one! Do you know how hard it's been for me? Eggs are to me like that fish Crocux loves so much. Don't remember the name right now, but I've seen him chomping on those like a savage! He left absolutely no remains behind!" Sholeh said to give an example, remembering that was the one reason why she began to feel nervous around Crocux and the reason why she hasn't visited him in all those weeks.

"She's coming... it isn't easy asking someone to give up their eggs. You know we try to take care of everyone here and don't worry about Crocux... he's harmless to anything that isn't a fish., " Sayan replied trying to ease the mongoose's tension.

"Still, that doesn't stop him from being scary. I know he respects mongooses thanks to Terrence, but still that doesn't stop him from intimidating. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but he has grown for the past weeks, and he's only a teenager." Sholeh said with worry, not wanting to imagine Crocux getting bigger than he already was.

Jack huffs "hmph well sorrry. besides no one needs your sympathy. besides I was going to give you this as a conslation prize since it wouldn't be right to me for Crocux to have cheated like that. so look not only will i give you the stupid statue I'll give you some friendly advice. you should stop messing with my family all together. Crocux could smell yellowtail trout easily from a mile away without paying attention. and since you must not bathe if you keep it up Crocux will lose his patence with you and will ignore the fact that he keeps birds off the menue. that said it's actually happened once before and the sight was so horrific to this day i still get chills from it. that has only happened once and it was underneath such sercomstances that many would've done it long before him be that they were croc or not. if you keep this up you will get killed and because you go out of your way to cause trouble that when you do get killed the most anyone would ever say about you is good riddence. if i were you i would clean up my act because I've seen many like you live and die and and everyone that knew them spat on their graves. now if you'll excuse me, Crocux got himself sick so I need to go. have a nice day" and he left, long gone before Yodel could make a response.

Cole escorted the chimp to his home, leaving Cheryl in charge, much to her delight. It was rare for her brother to trust her with responsibility, even if it was going to be for just a little while.

While on the way. Cole couldn't keep silent on what he believed about the confrontation.
"Listen Master Jack, we know that's not the first time you have visited Yodel. We keas don't mind anyone else's business, but it's becoming way too clear that you two are developing an intensely antagonist relationship. I don't know why you keep visiting the warbler, but I suggest you leave him alone. He's bitter enough as it is." Cole suggested, knowing what a handful Yodel was already and fights like that would only make him worse.

"Pigeon eggs? Seriously?" Sholeh said annoyed, clearly hating them.
"I said warbler eggs! Pigeons are disgusting and unhygienic! You think I would have asked for help if things were as easy as just fetching some dumb pigeon's eggs?" Sholeh said angrily, not standing the sight of the bigger eggs.
"You know what? Forget it! I should have known this wasn't going to work!" Sholeh said rudely and bitterly, beginning to walk away from Sayan's den, and halting her conversation with the leopard. She was so angry at Rose because she believed she was clear with her, and felt Rose did that on purpose.

Sholeh pretended not to hear her, since she started grumbling and regretting ever having to make a deal of getting just abandoned eggs. This was not unpredictable in Sholeh, since she was ungrateful even if a job is done flawlessly.

Jack ignored him already planning on not visiting that warbler ever again.

While Cole was escorting Jack, Sybil was trying to find conversation with Crocux. She didn't want to mention Jhen or Marina since that would remind her of his little searching at sea and the precise reason he got sick.
"So... Crocux... how large do you think you'll grow? If you keep growing, this cave is going to feel tight for you." she said jokingly, having never seen a saltwater crocodile before, thus not knowing how big they could get.

Crocux chuckled "yea your right. according to dad we can grow to 15 feet long or bigger."

OOC: I'm a terrible contributor to this RP, I keep abandoning it. I'm so sorry. No worries, my interest in it has come back again after reading through what I missed.


Over the past weeks, Odette and her close friends have managed to keep AJ's double life a secret from the other dingoes as well. She suspected that her leaders wouldn't sit right with having a Haven member dwell among them unbeknownst to Sybil. While she did enjoy the margay's company, she had another reason to have him around. She had been asking him for information on the forbidden land, but not for any nefarious purpose. The intell in question regarded any rumors and possible sightings of the fabled predator. She hoped that it could put her and her friends-- Savannah in particular-- at ease.
She was happy to know that the warblers had moved together for the protection that great numbers offered, and that no more reports of missing birds have been announced, but the paranoia still existed...

Meanwhile, during those same weeks, the serpent (and velvet worm) family had finally moved back to their old home in the brushes, closer to the rest of the residents. They had made their presence known, and have been attempting to integrate themselves back into the community. It was slow, but they were making steady progress.
Voracivenom was the most active. While his overall participation wasn't a daily occurrence just yet, he had been making an effort to restore his social life. Skaliscin wasn't quite as sociable; however, she had spoken to her friend AJ on multiple occasions, and sometimes visited a few other members as well. Speckles had taken a great liking to the keas, and frequently spent time with them, participating in their games, pranks, and gossiping. Truthfully, they all had high regards for the parrots; they hadn't forgotten how they had offered protection for their babies when Ravage had arrived (they may consider Speckles as one of their babies).
On the topic of their children, none of them have yet directly interacted with the Haven. Little versions of what's been recognized as black-capped centipede eaters have occasionally been seen slithering through the underbrush and tree branches, but nobody had been able to make an audience with them. Snakes have a strong instinct for solitude, from birth to death. Even though their parents have managed to overcome the impulse to avoid others, they still occasionally slip up and away, essentially, just as they have for the past months. However, the distancing of the baby snakes may come to an end soon...

Sybil knew Crocux was about twelve feet long already, which was quite a lot considering he was a teenager, and she suspected he was going to grow bigger than that.
"Well, that would be quite the record. Asides from the elephants and the polar bear that lives high up the mountain, we haven't had a Haven resident as big as you." Sybil said, trying to sound it like a compliment. She didn't admit it to him, but she was quite grateful to have someone like Crocux so close. The elephants were too big and had to limit their walks to avoid destroying trees, and the polar bear lived so high up the mountain, nobody has seen him since he rescued Rose.

Sybil then looked outside the cave, and saw that it was now only a matter of minutes before sundown.
"Gosh, look at the time. It's almost night already. I better get ready to sleep. I hope Jack doesn't take too long. He still has to give me those ear things." Sbil said, not having realized how time flew today.

just then Jack walked in. he climbed up on of the walls to a leadge and grabbed the headset that was made for Sybil "okay aunty here's your headset."

"Thanks Jack." Sybil said, but before she put them on, she turned to Crocux.
"Alright Crocux. I'm going to sleep in that corner there. Sorry, but your back is not very comfortable. The last time I slept on it was because I was too exhausted to move." Sybil explained, having felt a little pain when she woke up that day due to the little spikes on his back.

Cole, who didn't let his presence known by Sybil or Crocux once he brought Jack, simply flew away and returned home, not wanting to eave his sister in charge for too long. Mambo has returned home by now, trying to think on what he could do before sleeping, since he was still bored.

Crocux says "the only reason I slept like that was because I didn't want to disterb you. I perfer to sleep on my back silly." he went over to his spot and rolled over. he says "see? now you have to admit right now i look more comfertable then a stone floor."

"Right. So good thing for me you didn't turned over." Sybil said funnily, kinda laughing on his ridiculous position.
"Alright, it's time to sleep now. Oh, and try not to dream of yellow tails. I won't be able to hear you if you approach." Sybil said as she layed in her corner, though sounding more like a joke than genuine concern.

Crocux says "suit yourself. but i always dream of yellowtails."

Sybil shrank her shoulders, as if following his joke. She then put on her headset and began to sleep, actually doing so very quickly due to the very busy day of dealing with Crocux and his sickness. It was dark but still relatively early, so Sybil wanted to make sure she was going to be able to wake up early in the morning to continue treating Crocux, even if it meant skipping the orca game tomorrow.

Jack and Crocux slept soundly, Crocux sneezing on acasion. mean while Marina waited for Jhen to respond to her.

Sybil slept too, but even though she had her headgear to avoid hearing the snores and sneezes, she couldn't sleep well. She occasionally opened one of her eyes to check on Crocux, wondering if the medicine was going to do it's effect. She still felt the bee stings, so she really hoped she wouldn't have to mix him another batch. One way or the other, she had decided that she was going to skip the orca game tomorrow, and she was going to forbid Crocux from going to the beach. But thinking of the beach, she wondered how Jhen was doing, and was planning to go to Cairo to see how he was doing...

Sholeh pretended to ignore her, unaware of the fact that she herself was feeling bad for treating Rose that way. She was aware that she had to return to her tree and once again try to avoid her unhealthy temptation, but then she wondered something; if she just happened to snatch one egg accidentally, would Crocux come to her defense? That was something that she wanted to find out first thing in the morning... which was today...

"If you ever need to talk... we're always be here.," Sayan said hoping to give Sholeh just a little bit of hope.

Sholeh returned to her tree, and fortunately, she wasn't craving eggs as much as she had that morning. Her time deprived of them had helped her to lose interest in them, although very, very slowly. She still stick with her remaining plan though.

So that next morning, Sholeh did indeed went to Crocux's cave, knowing where he lived when she once saw where he headed.
"Hey... Mr. Crocux, are you there?" she said respectfully, being possibly the only Haven resident she didn't talked rudely to.

Jhen's eyes widen as he hears this. So, Crocux had been worried about him? "I thought that he must hate me for almost killing him, out of hunger, Jhen says in barely a whisper. Well let him and any others know, I'm fine. When he wants to play, I'll be too," he says with a small smile.

The next day, Rose and Sayan received the visit from the always reliable Peepers. Even though he use to be the warbler that lived closest to them, he too had moved near the kea's home for protection.
"Hey you two lovelies. How have you been? It's been torture not waking up in the morning seeing you two." Peepers greeted, having been accustomed to receive the two of them every morning when they woke up.

Crocux's chainsaw snoring could be heard in response. Jack however was up and heard her. he came out and said "well Sholeh, what a surprise. I'm sorry that you showed up at a time like this though. old Crocy got sick yesterday so Sybil's here, but I know you aren't to fond of her. luckly she's sleeping still so she wont bother you. if you want to talk I'll be more then happy too. after all I respect mongooses just as much as Crocux does. fact is I was best friends with he mongoose that save Crocux's life."

Marina smiled "okay I will. oh and Jhen just so you know, Crocux would never hate you, he may look all big mean and tough but he's just a big softy. He understands that it wasn't you. after all he's had times were he wasn't himself ether. the scar on his eye, he got it the same day I got this old shiner here" showing her nasty scar "if it wasn't for Crocux I wouldn't be alive right now. don't you ever think he'll hate you, because he wont." and with that she left for her home.

Sholeh wanted to talk with Crocux the most, but since Jack was the only one available, and she didn't want to talk to a sick animal, she settled for Jack.
"A crocodile with an illness. That's a first." she commented, finding it a little amusing. But then went to the point.
"Listen, if you really do know Crocux, then perhaps you can set my mind at ease." she said with a brief pause, and talked again.
"I'm not sure why that Terrence friend of yours is allergic to eggs. Perhaps he's a different species... anyway, the point is, my mongoose species here specializes in warbler eggs. Of course you know that is forbidden here for many reasons... but do you have any idea how hard it is to be denied your natural diet? I can eat other things, but they just don't have enough protein to sustain my kind. I just want to know... if I someday can't avoid the temptation any further, would your friend Crocux would still be on my side?" Sholeh asked, wanting to know if Crocux would protect her from Sybil and the hateful little birds.

"Yeah. Me too. This just isn't fair." Peepers complained, really missing those two.
"You know,the rest of the warblers are starting to return to their normal lives. Some are even tempted to move back to their original homes." he then explained, indicating that the rumors weren't scaring the anymore, since nothing has happened. Resuming their normal, usually solitary lives would mean that they would once again be easy prey.

Jack nodded "of corse he would. he would understand completly. in fact you know how everyone steriotypically thinks apes love bananas well not only do i hate them I'm allergic to them. and I knew Terrence's dad well, he was the one who saved Crocux's life and was my best friend and he loved eggs. I'm still surpried that his only child is allergice to his fathers favorit meal. but i'm getting off topic here, fact is Crocux would defend you. I know this because one time out at sea Guardian was starved so much that he tried to eat Shi, even i wanted to throw him over board, but ol' Crocy went to his defence and was willing to gamble with his own life. if he was willing to do that for someone who tried to eat his sister, regardless of wether or not if it was his foster father, then their isn't a doubt in my mind he will defend you. in fact I know that with the exception of Yodel he would do the same for anyone in the haven."

Shocked found the story interesting, and very funny how Yodel was the only resident he didn't regard.
"Even from Sybil? I know how fond he's growing of her." Sholeh said, having already had the painful experience from Jet himself. Even though Sholeh didn't hate Sybil as much as before, she wanted to make sure Crocux understood her dislike for the civet and guarantee that she would have the crocodile as an ally just in case Sybil got influenced by the warblers to give a severe punishment like they did to Terrence last year.

"Well, like Miss Sybil said, how is it possible that such creature could avoid detection for so long, especially during the drought when the foliage was not that thick? We are many eyes you know. And nobody has seen anything." Peepers said, showing that despite his wisdom, even he was having some serious doubts.

Jack says "even from Sybil. don't worry. he'll defend you, so long as you've tried your best, that's all he would ask."

Sholeh still wasn't sure, since she wanted to hear it from Crocux himself.
"Well, I'd rather wait for him to confirm it himself. Tell him that I will be nearby once he wakes up. But don't tell Sybil I was here. I don't want her to think the wrong thing." Sholeh said, looking at the entrance and wondering how Sybil or Jack could sleep with such an annoying snore.

Jack says "of corse." he noticed her look in and said "let me guess, you're wondering how we could sleep with a croc that snors like a chainsaw? and before you ask no it isn't that obvious because others have asked that question before and were just as descret as you were. well some less then others. anyways it's thinks to these things" he holds up the head set "their called head sets, you put them on and they block out sound. you could yell right now and Sybil wont hear yea."

"Fascinating." Sholeh said, pretending to be interested, but it infuriated her how somebody gave her too much information when she didn't asked for it in the first place.
"Just tell Crocux to see me. And please, tell him to leave Sybil out of it." Sholeh then said firmly, not wanting the civet to be involved in anything. She wanted to make sure Crocux really was fond of mongooses as he and Jack claimed.

Sybil was still sleeping soundly, and it didn't seem like she was going to wake up anytime soon. The headset made everything quiet, and that combined with how exhausted she was with taking care of Crocux and making him that medicine yesterday made her sleep without any interruption.

"Sayan please tell him what you saw." Rose said.

"I'm afraid Rose is right.," Sayan said with a solemn nod. "It was in the middle of the night while Rose was still asleep. I got this feeling.. this feeling that I wasn't alone and I went out to investigate. I saw something.. someone out of the corner of my eyes. But when I got closer... whatever it was... was gone. I didn't say anything at the time, but... we are not alone.," he then said visibly shaken as he explained what he had seen. He glanced over to the nearby shrubbery-- where something could have possibly come and gone without entirely being seen.

Peepers didn't know what to believe. Like his fellow warblers, he wanted to return to their normal lives.
"Are you sure it wasn't something else? The rumor has gotten everyone nervous, and the mind an play tricks on you." Peepers said, not wanting to be nervous about the news.

Jack nodded "you got it. have a nice day."
