Karu stayed silent, his only movement was to curl up slightly tighter. Mountain air was cold after all.

"Leave me alone. Get some sleep." He growled gruffly, turning to glare at her fiercely before slowly moving back to his original position.

"No." Karu growled even louder, lifting his head up, reaching over and pulling his cloak over his head before letting his head rest again. He shut his eyes, trying to sleep.

He paused in silence for a couple of minutes. Then he spoke in a much calmer voice. "I don't talk to people. I don't like people in general. People can't be trusted, no matter how strong the bonds that tie them together. Love. Friendship. Unity. It's nothing but pure fabrication. It's nothing." He growled. "So I live alone. I hunt. I sleep. I die. Life is simple. Simple enough for me."

"No. I rely on myself and that is it. Because there is no one you can rely on. They'll always fail you." He said in a low voice. "What I trust is my spear and my bow. That is sufficient."

Karu said nothing to that, but in his mind, he hardened himself. No. I cannot. I will not. The thought drifted and stuck in his mind. Karu rolled over, his face facing away from Kitty.

"....No." Was all he said, and rolled over to face the fire. Karu blinked.

He closed his eyes, emotions struggling to break free yet he held them back. "Because.....I cannot. Not even if I tried to trust someone, in my heart.....I do not trust anyone. Not even myself."

"Sooner or later, you will find that people just can't be trustworthy. They'll always lie. They'll always cheat. And they'll always forget. Love. Friendship. Good deeds. They all mean nothing. If they're so powerful, then they should be able to defeat anything. Well, they're not. They're nothing but moon-addled brain symptoms." He looked away again.

"That's something you won't be able to keep." He whispered softly. Karu blinked his eyes open, then closed them once more.

"You're only making it too hard on yourself. Now get some sleep. We have a long day ahead!" He growled, shrugging Kitty's hand off.

"Nothing. Now sleep." He growled, closing his own eyes.

Karu growled, swatting her hands away from him and pulling out his knife. He swung, but stopped, his arm shaking. "D-Don't you......dare...." He growled, his eyes were filled to the point of crying and it looked like he was using every bit of strength to hold himself back from attacking Kitty.

Every fiber in his body told him to leave. To abandon her and be alone again. He could do it. Easily. Because he had no conscious. He has no feelings. Or....at least, he is pretending he doesn't. Karu didn't. He sat down slowly, putting the knife away. This time he didn't turn away. "Defeat Zenon." He said in a low voice.

"You want me to trust you?" He asked. Karu growled, not liking that he had to repeat himself. But, then it would stick in his mind too. "Defeat Zenon. And then......change me."

"Cause I can't trust you the way I am now." He said, forcing the words out of his mouth. It was painfully hard to get them to come out. He felt like puking. "So the only way......I'll ever trust you is if you change me....to a different person."

Karu said nothing, but stayed silent and looked down. He didn't move even though she drew near. Karu kept himself in check.

"What? What do you want???" Karu asked exasperated.

Karu finally looked up at her, his hard eyes staring into her like piercing darts. "What are you doing?" He asked again inching away a bit.

Karu looked into her expression. This was....almost unknown to him. What she was trying to do.....brought nothing back but very faint memories....of mother.....

"Then go to sleep! Hurry up!" He growled and then laid down, rolling over, a bit weirded out and emotionally stressed. ugh.....Karu just decided to sleep this off and return to his old grumpy self the next morning.

Faruto woke up all bandaged. Viruto was gone to hunt while Mallory sat there at the edge of the group looking out for anything bad.

ooc: No problem.

Karu was already packing stuff up. The fire had died down and it was cold. He muttered something about firewood and then yawned, not knowing that Kitty was awake yet.

Viruto came back with a limp deer and two foxes. "Hunting these things was hard so we better save them or eat them" She said as she set them down. "oh boy" Faruto said as he sat up. he winced a little bit. "Hey, how you holdin' up?" Mallory said as she walked over. "I'm doing alright but I'm still hurt" Faruto said.

Karu blinked, a bit startled. He said nothing but grunted and had his stuff all together. Now he waited for her to get her stuff ready.
