Kihei went to the door and opened it "Hello?" He asked

Derrick turned to the door, "That smell," his head tilted slightly, "It's that dragon from the woods earlier," he looked back up to George, "I wonder if he changed his mind about us then?"

George stood up turning to meet the gaze of the stranger. Unsure of how to approach the dragon he stood where he was shielding Derrick from the light with the shadow cloud he had managed to make from his developing power he still does not understand. There where rimes where it would lower in strength and Derrick would flinch a little, but the shadow would spike back up to conceal the dragon once again.

Darrick hadn't thought about George's situation too much, figuring it was something from his bloodline somewhere and not giving two thoughts about it possibly coming from his feeding sessions.

Makil put his wing over Derrick too "I'll help as much as I can" He said as he used his ice power to cover his wing in hard ice, making it too where it could help block any sunlight trying to touch Derrick

"Greetings, I understand your companions are undertaking a journey into certain death and wish to accompany you all to discover the plot of this dark mist...of course if you rather not guess I'll have to go there myself" he replied nonchalantly.

Despite the cheery demeanor there was something very off about him and those on the local council would know fully the history of this individual's former reign of destruction.

George half back any comments to allow the elder to reply, or maybe any of the others. It wasn't to be courteous alone, it was also to better understand who he was traveling with. His priority was to protect Derrick, the current mission was secondary in his mind.

Derrick looked up to Makil from his more crouched position, giving a Thanks expression, but not mouthing the words. But there was one thing that bothered him, the hunger he was feeling, and the exposed side of the neighborly dragon covering him. His irises had a bit of a red tint growing from the pupil as he stared at Makil.

Makil looked at Derrick "Go ahead, you need it" He mouthed

"Oookaaaaayyyy... Welcome..." Kihei said, not sure how to take the newcomer's comment

"It would definitely help us if more dragons joined," Kumara said. She then turned to the stranger.
"What's your name sir?"

Derrick's mouth opened only slightly, but froze for a second as his irises started to fade back to normal, but it flared fully just before it was gone. Pupils turned to thin slivers like a serpent's, and his fangs extended, reaching further than they had when George usually lets him bite. Before George could even look down to the boy, his claws dug into the floor to provide a base for his launch. Pushing off hard enough to pull up some of the floor itself, he slammed into Makil, taking them to the far wall where Derrick had propped up and wedged their friend into the corner.(all this is just a matter of seconds by the way)

"Derrick! What are you doing?!" Makil yelled, trying to push him off of him

Derrick's hold was too tight to push off alone, "Derrick," George was quick to turn to assist, "Derrick, get off of him," he moved about trying to find somewhat in between them, but it seemed hopeless, he kept being pushed away by Derrick flinging his tail over.

Kihei ran over and tried to help George

Makil continued to struggle "Snap out of it Derrick!" He yelled

Shadow watched the group on the floor with confusion, which quickly turned to realisation.
He ran over and rammed himself into Derrick's side.

Derrick's mind couldn't take it much longer, he broke off from Makil to land just a pace away with his wings out spread and teeth bared, letting out a light his. Then it set in, he was in the light coming from the doorway, he stood his ground through the pain for a moment or two as his scales and skin started to burn. It was only a second or so afterward that George stepped over and blocked his sight to the others. Providing shade, he wrapped Derrick in with his wings, "What was that all about, Derrick?" He questioned the incident. There was no reply at the time, "Can someone patch him up, he cannot keep bleeding like that," George had pulled his head up to speak, but returned to the interior of his wings, "Derrick-"

"What, I'm sorry ok!?" His voice cried out, "This life is hard! When I can't get what I need by asking, my mind just takes it by force," his tone turned to more of a whimper, "I... I'm just... So... Sorry."

"Its ok Derrick, I understand" Makil said, feeling sorry for the little dragon

"I'm a healer," Kumara said, holding what appeared to be a purple gem necklace.

"That's just it, we always travel during the day," Derrick called out, "I know they say it's dangerous at night, but wouldn't you be more vulnerable if you were asleep rather than moving? I get it that you all grow tired and need sleep, but there has to be some way to incorporate me into this one sided equation."

"Maybe we can travel during the night and sleep during the day" Kihei suggested

"I can tell that you don't feel I should be here. I don't know any of you," Derrick paused, but only for a second to breathe, "I don't get to talk to you guys often at all. Having to stay out of the light usually incorporates staying where I cannot be seen."

George had nothing to interrupt the boy's words. He only listened for the responses.

Derrick pushed George aside suddenly, exposing himself, "I can see in the dark, I do not sleep, and traveling during the day hurts, and it's going to start effecting everyone if we cannot change that," George wasn't too offset by the push, and managed to shade Derrick with a shadow casting, "Just look at Makil," he pointed over to him, "That could be anyone of you, or worse, him again. George cannot sustain me day after day, and I doubt most of you could... It wont be just darkness creatures you'll have to worry about, it may end up being me too," his voice lowered on that last sentence to a low grumble as he looked to the floor.

Kihei walked over and hugged Derrick "Don't say that! You're a great friend and you could never do anything to change that!" He said in tears

Skyward followed Starz. "You might be making him make an impossible decision," she added. "He might want to stay with the group and not let anyone down, but he can't stay out in the sunlight." She sat down. "Oh, who am I kidding. This whole trip is made of impossible decisions."

"This is a hard decision for everyone, Derrick is special and when we get in the mist, he could be one of the most powerful ones in the group" Makil said

George could only lower his head, unsure what to say, or what Derrick might say, "Have you ever stopped to wonder how prey is hunted," Derrick's voice eased up and was clear, but his face hidden as he looked to the floor, "How is a dear caught, standing still, easy target; what about a bird maybe, when it has stopped flying. The easiest time to strike something, is when you can surround it, it is much harder to surround something that is moving," his eyes were thin, barely open as he gave his own words thought, "So what you're saying is, you'd rather sit in one location while the enemy could be anywhere, ready to strike? What if you could avoid the enemy's major force, in this instance ground based creatures, by flying over them, where the area around the group is much clearer, open to maneuvers? You can say I'm wrong all you want, but night is the time to travel," he looked up as his eyes had turned red again with the slivered pupils, "And dis-trust a creature of the night itself."

George looked up to the others, "C'mon he has a point," he turned to each and everyone as he spoke, "if the creatures are stronger and in larger numbers at night, why make ourselves vulnerable. Even if we were woken and got away, there is no way we could fly far at all, we wont last long on minutes, maybe an hour of sleep. Can either of you see this from our standing, you said it yourself, and most of you just believe it, they are stronger and more numerous at night, there is no way one or even two awake guards could fend off such beings while letting the others sleep. It just doesn't make sense why you cannot agree," he paused, "I apologize, elder, in advance for this," he turned to Tulvir, "I believe you, and everyone else who would choose to travel during the day, are all wrong. You are not taking in the pros and cons of these decisions. Derrick and I cannot do this alone, and you cannot do this without us. I've been watching you all along the way, you are young, but trained, but also arrogant," his facial structure gave a stern look off now, "You had some trouble in dispelling the creatures during the day because you did not work as a team, you each tried to prove something on your own. But what is a king without his army, just a man and a fancy chair wearing a crown. Now, before you make any hasty remarks to our thoughts, think about it, think about it all. Traveling at night is best to us because it keeps Derrick from becoming an enemy, it keeps us alert at night, it provides the sunlight to protect us while we sleep, because not all of us do, you will be protected by two elements, light, and Derrick. My last comment is that, a team compromises for the goo of the group, not the selfish needs or wants of the individual."

Kihei looked at George and Derrick "I agree with you both" He said

Makil looked over too "As do I" He said

"And there was the phase I was looking for, what I've been talking about, 'All be safe,' emphasis on All," George was irritated, but he knew they wouldn't listen to reason, it would seem that they had to be right no matter what, "Is Derrick not part of that All?" He looked to Starz, "And I would much appreciate it if you," he then glanced around at the others, but stopped back on Starz, "All of you, would not get an attitude when I am defending the only one I know here. By the looks in your eyes I can tell you think you know what's right, but when you've been around for more than 20 years, you really develope a sense of logic difference in perspective. Now, seeing as this whole conversation will not be soon forgotten, it should not hinder our ability to cooperate in a battlefield situation," George took to his feet now, holding himself high once more, "I know I may seem irrational in your eyes, but it is apparent that I am the oldest in this... Well I'd like it to be a team, but for that to happen some sort of bond should be formed."

Derrick's eyes launched around watching everyone from his covered position under George's wing, stopping on Makil, who was currently receiving treatment for the bite, It was apparent that the female who seems to be playing leader didn't care what was happening to him at all. She turned her back.

"Why?" Derrick started, Turing to Starz now, "Why did you turn your back on him!? He needed help, and you would have left him to die!"

"It is, but Derrick had a point too, the monsters get more powerful at night, making it risky to rest at that time" Kihei said

"How about we just travel from Midnight to noon each day?" Makil asked, looking for compromise

Derrick's altered eyes changed back to their natural bright blue, "I did not mean to cause any trouble, it was just so unfair," his gaze was still rather low, but not to the floor, "I understand your concern for nightly travel, but... Nevermind, that conversation ends now," he looked up to the orb, "Thank you, for the offer, but," he tilted his head, "I'm afraid I'm gonna have to request a longer borrowing period, if the mission demands so of course."

Aretis yawned getting up. "I'll get the cloak." He volunteered. "Besides, I need to make a trip to the forge and pick something up myself. It's okay. You guys should be easy to catch up with. Don't worry." He said and then looked at Tulvir.

"So, when do we start heading for Dawana?" Makil asked

George nodded, looked down to Derrick who, with his still sad and apologetic expression nodded back, "As ready as we'll ever be," he replied letting a thicker wave of shadow cast down around Derrick.

"I'm ready" Kihei said as he stepped towards the door

Makil followed Kihei "Whenever you guys are ready" He said
