“Where is that last one?”
“I don’t think that it is still here. I can’t feel anything moving on the ground.”
“Let’s forget about him and get the heck out of here.” said Traverse
“Alright, but it doesn’t feel right leaving without getting rid of the last one.”
Rougestone walked over to where Sapphire just appeared and they both flew upward with Traverse holding onto Rougestone’s tail. The trip going up was the same as going down. Sapphire felt like she was spinning with her eyes closed. The only difference was breaking through to the surface. When the three of them broke through to the surface, it was blinding. They had been down there for so long that the light blinded Sapphire and Traverse. As soon as Sapphire reached the surface and while she was blinded by the light, she was hit over the head and knocked out.

Sapphire slowly started to open her eyes but all that she could see was a bright light. She blinked a couple of times and realized that she was laying down in a cage.
*to herself* “This whole cage thing is really getting old. Why can’t they be more creative?”
“She is starting to wake up!” she heard from an unknown location.
“What now?” she thought to herself
She picked up her head and looked around. The room that her cage was placed in was dark and a bit chilly. Candles were lit in certain spots but they weren’t enough to shed some light on where she was. She then heard a different voice.
“So you are Rouge’s girlfriend now. That is nice. You two make a cute couple. Thought about kids yet? I would love to see how they would turn out. What elements that they would have or any special abilities like being able to dive underground. That would be an interesting sight. It really has been too long, Sapphire. It is still to bad that I only got you this time without your brother.”

“That looks like it hurt.” she heard Rougestone say. She couldn’t see anything but look over to where the sound came from.
“It sure as heck did and you are going to get it this time.”
“We have learned a few new tricks since last time.”
“That doesn’t mean that I haven’t. Trust me; I had to change my whole fighting style because of you.”
“Keep complaining, it just makes you look so immature.”
“I am not the ones being held captive.”
“The only reason that we are is because you are too much of a coward to actually fight.”
“You want to start something?”
“I don’t know if you realize it but it has already begun.”
She didn’t have time to react as another cage was thrown into hers and flipped over on its side.
“Come on. You going to fight me while I am in a cage? New low for you.”
“Thank you, I take that as a compliment.”
The cage that was thrown into hers was Rougestone’s and a black dragon walked up to the toppled cage.
“It really is a pleasure seeing you again, Oblivion. Honestly, now I can kick your butt all over again.”
Oblivion hit his cage again and sent him into the dark. There was a loud bang as the cage hit the wall.
“You have been quiet, Sapphire.”
She noticed that the webbing on his wings were almost all completely gone and one of his wings was bent the wrong way. He had numerous scars scattered all over his body and one of his horns didn’t have a point to it any more.
“There is nothing else to say. Rouge pretty much hit the nail on the head.”
“You are cockier this time.” he said as he hit her cage, sending it skidding across the floor and flipping over once.
“I am not afraid to fight back either. Want to see?”
“Maybe later, I am more interested in what I can now do to your boyfriend.”

“Rouge, Rouge, Rouge.” he said while shaking his head. “Somehow I knew you would find yourself a girl.”
“Is there a reason that you keep mentioning that I do have a girlfriend. If not, we already established that I like her, so get over it.”
“I just like saying it. I just think that it is so cute.” he said in a childish tone.
“You going to let me out of here so that we can really fight, or are you just going to keep kicking the cage?”
“O, but I didn’t bring you here to fight.”
“What do you want now, cripple?” Rougestone asked
“O, nothing.”
“Somehow, I don’t believe you.”
“You shouldn’t.”
“So you got the tunnelers working for you now.”
“Actually only one of them is working for me since you and your little girlfriend killed the rest of the group.”
‘Yeah, sorry about that. They maybe wouldn’t have died if they hadn’t attacked me first.”
“Well, I thought that they could have handled you but I guess that I was wrong and I should have done it myself.”
“You really should have. They were actually pretty easy once the leader was crippled.”
“You mean that the leader is still alive?” he asked as he shot a glance over to where the last of the figures was standing.
“You told me that they were all dead!”
“They all appeared to be. I didn’t know!”
“Get back there and see if he is still alive! He had better be for your sake!”
Sapphire spoke up
“It is pointless. I broke both of his legs.”
“How? You couldn’t have gotten that close to a tunneler.”
“I told you that I learned some new tricks.” she said in her defense
She looked over at Rougestone and he knew what she was thinking. The room started to get hot.
“Rougestone, more volcanoes? I have already seen this one.”
“No, no you haven’t.” he replied back to him
The earth cracked and steam came pouring out of it.
“Smoke screening your way out won’t work.”
“Who said anything about escaping?” asked Rougestone from his cage
“You really do puzzle me, Rouge. I don’t get you.”
One of Oblivion’s hind legs then bent in pain. He looked over at it and saw nothing, but he could feel the pain surging through his leg.

“Very interesting, you plan on using the same thing that you used to cripple Earthshadow. I don’t know how well that will work, but go ahead and give it a try.” he said with a smirk on his face.
Rougestone just watched from his cage as Oblivion endured the pain that was now coursing through both of his back legs.
Rougestone had a pillar of earth shoot up out of the ground right under where he was and smashed the cage on the ceiling. The top of the cage bent inward just enough for him to knock the door off of its hinges. He then lowered the cage and himself down back to ground level and walked out of the open cage.
“You also will need a new cage, Oblivion!” he called over to him.
Oblivion was too busy with Sapphire to take any notice to what Rougestone said.
“So this is one of your new tricks. If you give me a second, I can figure out what you are doing.”
“That is ok. You don’t need to know.” she echoed.

There was a crack and one of Oblivion’s legs went limp.
“So, you take out the legs first and then think that it will easier to kill me. Is that it?” he said to his leg; directing the comment to Sapphire.
“No” answered Rougestone as he hurled a boulder right at Oblivion.
However, due to Sapphire, Oblivion was hit hard with the boulder and sent flying backwards with it.
“You going to risk hitting your girlfriend, Rougestone?”
“I think that she can handle herself.”
The pain started to ease up on Oblivion’s leg and a visible vapor trail floated off of it. It floated over to where Rougestone was standing and took the form of Sapphire, but it stayed a vapor.
“No need to explain that to me anymore, Sapphire. I think I got it.”
“Alright. What do you think we should do with him?” she said as she pointed to the crater in the wall that the boulder made.
“Leave him. I think that he has suffered enough.”
“You know that he could just come back like he did this time.”
“And how much of a threat do you think he will be? He can’t fly, he has scars all over his body and now only has three legs.”
“You’ve got a point there.” she replied
“So let’s go find Traverse and get the heck out of here.”
“Right.” she said and they went off to find their friend.

Fireflight: they should have finsihed him off!

“Where are we?”
“I have no clue. It seems like we are in a cave but I could be wrong.”
“That is a possibility.”
“Oblivion always had a thing for caves, I don’t know why. He knows that I can go through earth and yet he picks things that are made from earth.”
“You have some strange friends.” said Sapphire
“You know as well as I do that they are not my friends.”
“I know, I was just making fun of you, Rouge.”
They both walk through a tunnel because Sapphire had explained to Rougestone that traveling through the ground was starting to make her nauseous.
“I guess that never occurred to me since I am always traveling underground.”
“Yeah, and now we have to walk because of me.”
“I don’t mind walking with you.” he said “You aren’t that bad.” he said in a kidding way.
Sapphire just nudged him. There was a bit of silence and then Rougestone spoke,
“So, do you still think that I am cute?”
“What do you think?” she asked him
“Yes”
“Ok, then why did you ask me if you knew the answer?”
“I don’t know, I was just trying to start a conversation.”
“O, so do you feel Traverse anywhere through the earth?”
“The only way that I could is if he his touching some part of the cave.”
“But do you?”
“No, not at the moment. It is pretty quiet down here now.”
“……Fine.”
“Fine, what?”
“Let’s go.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, let’s just get it over with.”
He nodded and they both flew straight up through the ceiling.

They emerge to the surface and Sapphire’s eyes adjusted to the light faster than the last time.
“So where is that bug?” asked Rougestone
“Hey! I am not a bug!” yelled Traverse as he flew over to him
“What happened to you?”
“Well, they locked me in this cage and there were tons of them. I had to break out of the cage and fight all of them! There must have been twenty guys there and I kicked all of their butts!!”
Rougestone just looked at Traverse and said, “The cage feel on the floor and broke and you somehow found a way out.”
“No way, what I just told you is true!”
Rougestone just looked over at Sapphire and they started walking away.
“Don’t leave me here!” he said as flew to catch up to them.

Ten years have now past since their last encounter with Oblivion. The trio have been roaming the land and making new allies, along with new enemies. Not much has changed in their appearance just that they are now more mature and are now in adulthood. Traverse’s glow is now a darker green, but he hasn’t grown much in size. Sapphire is now about two and a half times the size that she was and is taking a lot after her mother. She has also kept the same shade of blue that she had ten years ago. Rougestone is now about the same height as Sapphire’s father and his brown color has turned to a darker shade and he has kept the same shades of green from his adolescents. They both have kept the same abilities and have learned a lot more. Our story resumes in a small village on the edge of a large open field. Huts made from cut trees litter the area and are inhabited Cougars that walk on their hind legs as if they were human. They are mainly a peaceful tribe but they can hold their own in a fight if it is necessary. Rougestone and Sapphire are the only dragons that are there at the time and they are there to watch over them until the tribe can regain itself from a recent raid.

“How are repairs coming?”
“We should be done in a week’s time.”
“That is good to hear. Any deaths?”
“Thankfully, no. The death count still remains at zero.”
“That is great.”
“So what have you been up to lately, Rougestone?”
Rougestone and a grey Cougar were walking through the village where huts were being repaired.
“Nothing much, really. It has been quiet for me lately. I haven’t been traveling as much as used to.”
“Come now, you are still known as The Wanderer, aren’t you? You should still be out seeing the world.”
“I do have enough time to stop and help an old friend.”
“That is true, and watch who you are calling old.”
“So what have you been up to, Remus?”
“The same as you, only I have stayed here and lived my life.”
“You talk as if you are old.”
“You still haven’t lost that sense of humor of yours.”
“No, he hasn’t.” interrupted Sapphire as she walked out of one of the huts that the two just passed.
“And what have you been up to, Sapphire?”
“The same things as Rouge.” she answered
“You still have that nickname?” Remus asked Rougestone
“Yeah, it caught on and she hasn’t called me anything different since she heard me being called that.”
“I see, well I had better go and see how some of the repairs are coming.”
Remus walked over to where one of the huts were being repaired and Rougestone and Sapphire stayed where they were and let him work.
“We haven’t seen each other in a very long time.”
“I am surprised that he remembers you.”
“I heard that!” Remus shouted from the hut that he was mending to.
“You looked a little bit different back then and you have changed quite a bit.”
“Hopefully in a good way.”
“Of course.” she answered “Do you even remember coming here?” she then asked
“Of course I do. I won’t forget about him either.”
Remus caught up to them in time to hear the last thing that Rougestone said.
“Reminiscing?” he asked
“A little. She asked if I remember being here before and of course I do.”
“I won’t forget that day. You were the only one to come back after what had happened.”
“Alright, well let’s leave the past alone and look more towards the future.” Sapphire added
“Yes, I was right about the time frame of about a week and there were minimal materials needed for the repairs. Most of the damaged huts were salvageable so there was no loss in materials.”
“Do you know what they wanted?” asked Sapphire
“We get these little raids every once in a while so we are accustomed to them. They usually come without a purpose and take anything of value to them. We seem to be the only target around here.”
“You would be right about that. You guys are pretty cut off from any huge societies.”
“But that is how we like it. It makes us feel independent.”
“It is also what is making you their target.” said Rougestone
“I think that they are just doing it to get on our nerves.”
“Whatever the reason is, they still shouldn’t be doing what they are doing.” said Sapphire
“Well, this time it wasn’t a big deal and everything that they broke is fixable.”
“It is only going take one time for something to happen that is not fixable.”
“Sapphire is right, we are going to be here for about a week and I am going to look into this.”
“Rougestone, there is really no need to get yourself involved.”
“Yes there is, I have already defended this village once, another time won’t kill me.”
“Thank you. You may stay in this hut here.” he said as they reached one of the huts that was situated towards the center of the village.
“Thank you.” Rougestone said to Remus
“It is no problem. The food is open to you guys whenever you see fit as to eat and we are having a small bonfire when it starts to get dark that I encourage you to go to.”
“Now you sound like we are visiting on vacation.” Rougestone said to him
“Please, it is the least that we could do for your help.”
“Alright, if anything happens, you know where to find me.” he offered to Remus.
Remus nodded and left the two of them out in front of where they would be staying.

I have a question, over those hen years, did Rouge's and Sapphire relationship progress over the ten years?

“I like the sound of that.”
“The sound of what?”
“Vacation” she answered “You need some time to relax. Everywhere that we have gone, there is something always going on and you have to be right in the middle of it.”
“But there is something going on here. Weren’t you listening?”
“Yes I was listening, and it doesn’t seem like a huge deal. You should take some of the week and relax and then work on whoever did this to the village. You are always involved with everything.”
“I thought that it was a good thing to be involved.”
“It is, but you also need some time to relax, which is why we are going to that bonfire that Remus was talking about.”
“Alright, I am not going to argue. I will admit that I am always involved with everything, but three days of relaxing at the most.”
“Whatever you feel is right. I am not making you do anything that you don’t want to.”
“Which is why I am going tonight, I want to be with you.”
“Come on, let’s walk around the village for a little bit before something comes up.”

“So, I have meant to ask you this for a while but it has always slipped my mind. How have you liked being a wanderer?”
“I thought that you were The Wanderer.”
“Yes, I am known as that, but wanderers are also dragons that wander. You have fallen under that category ever since you joined me all those years ago.”
“Since you put it that way, I love being a wanderer. Meeting new people, seeing new places, it’s all wonderful. That and I get to wander with the dragon that I love.”
“You’re embarrassing me now.”
“Am I?” she said in a childish way. “I love this dragon!!” she yelled and started to laugh.
Rougestone smiled and laughed with her.
“What are we going to do with you?” he asked her
She just looked over at him and continued to laugh.
“You are still the same as when I first met you.”
“If you mean beautiful and charming, then yes I am the same.”
He smiled as he shook his head and the two of them continued on with their walk.

“Would you like to do the honors?”
“I don’t see why not.” said Rougestone as he got up and blew fire into the pile of trees that had been cut and arranged into a small teepee.
He then returned to sitting next to Sapphire. Many of the members of the tribe were seated around the fire in a small circle.
“To everyone that is here tonight, we are here to enjoy a peaceful evening and share stories with one another. The clouds are absent from the sky and the stars are out, so please enjoy yourselves.”
After his small speech, Remus walked over and sat on the other side of Rougestone.
“Nice speech.” he said to Remus as he sat down.
“Thanks, Rougestone.”
Sapphire just rested her head on Rougestone’s shoulder and looked up at the sky. She wasn’t interested in what the others were talking about, she was just enjoying the fact that Rougestone was relaxing and actually enjoying himself. She could hear some of the conversations that were being shared but she chose to stay out of them.
“So how long have you two been together?” asked Remus
“Well, we have been traveling together for about ten years, now, and we have been together a little bit longer than that. So, what about you, did you ever find anyone?”
“Ten years is a nice even number, and no, I never did really find the right person for me.”
“There is someone out there for everyone. The only difference between us is when we find that someone. Me, I have already found her. You just have to give it time.”
“Thanks, but I don’t know how much time that I have left.”
“You’ve got plenty of time. Don’t worry about it.”
“Right, well, what were you two doing around here that you just happened to stop by when we needed help?”
“I wanted to stop by and see how things were going since I left and it was just good timing that we happened to stop by when you needed help.”
“If I didn’t believe in luck, I would now. There will be more time to talk about that later, though. I would like to go over and talk to some of the other villagers, so I will leave you with your…”
Sapphire spoke up after a long time of silence and finished his sentence, “Wife.”

Remus nodded at her and walked over to the other side of the fire. Rougestone looked down at her.
“Really?” he asked in a quiet tone; as to not ruin the moment.
“Yes.” she answered and gave him a small kiss on the cheek.
The two of them then just sat there and enjoyed the warmth of the fire and the company of each other.

Sapphire awoke in the hut that they were given and picked her head up. There was no sign of Rougestone so she stood up and went outside.
“So where do you think Traverse is?” she asked him as she walked outside. He was standing in front of one of the huts that was under construction.
“He could be anywhere, I told him that we might be near his hive and that he should go and see if he could find it. I also told him that we would be here for about a week and to be back by then. He should be fine.”
“Are you taking it easy?”
“I have been trying to. There is just so much stuff going on.”
“I know, but even you have your limits.”
“Yes, I do, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t get things done.”
“You haven’t changed either, Rouge.”
“And what do you mean by that?”
“You’re still stubborn.”
“And cute, right?” he asked with a smile on his face
“Yes, and you are still cute.” she said with a smile.
“Right, well I want to see what Remus is up to.”
“You really can’t relax.”
“Who said that I was going to ask him for work?”
He left Sapphire and walked over to Remus’s hut but he wasn’t there. He walked over to one of the cougars that were working on a nearby hut.
“Have you seen Remus around here lately?” he asked him
“Last I saw him; he was on his way to the entrance of the village.”
“Thanks.” he said as he started his way towards the entrance.
As he approached the entrance, he noticed a small group of villagers surrounding something and amongst the villagers was Remus.
“Remus!” he called over to him
“Rougestone, can you come here?” Remus asked
Rougestone nodded and picked up his pace.
“What’s up?” he asked when he got closer. He then realized that his question was useless as he looked at what they were all standing around.

They were all huddled around a slightly large fox with a red tint to his fur that was lying on the ground. It picked its head up and spoke.
“Is Rougestone here?” he asked.
“Yes, what is wrong?” answered Remus
The fox got up and it only reached up to Remus’s hip in height.
“I would have made my appearance known earlier, but I got here late last night and feel asleep.”
“That is fine, but why do you need Rougestone?” asked Remus
Rougestone had guessed that the fox hadn’t seen him or else it wouldn’t be talking to Remus.
“I need to talk to him. It is something that can’t wait.”
Rougestone then pushed his way through the crowd that was now forming and approached the fox.
“What is wrong?” asked Rougestone
“We need to talk.” he answered
“Go ahead.”
“In private.”
“Alright then, come on.” said Rougestone as he started walking through the crowd that now departed as he walked. The fox followed behind him while looking at the many faces that were now focused on him. They both reached Rougestone’s hut and walked in. Sapphire was sitting inside.
“So what is so urgent?” he asked as he sat down
“There is something going on at one of the cities that you two have recently passed through and they want your help.”
“My help with what?” asked Rougestone
“They want your fighting skills.”
“What? They want to recruit me to help win a fight? What city are we even talking about?”
“The answer to your first question is yes, they do want you to help fight, and as to what city it is, it is Flame City.”
“Real original name there kid.”
“I didn’t choose the name, I just live there.”
“Well, when do they want me there?”
“As soon as possible.”
“I don’t know if that is possible.”
“Of course it is.” interrupted Sapphire “I know that you want to go, Rouge.”
Rougestone turned to Sapphire “What happened to the whole vacation thing?”
“They need you more than we need a vacation. Oh, and by the way, I am coming too.”
Rougestone turned his attention back over to the fox.
“You got a name, kid?”
He nodded “It’s Blaze.”
“Right, well I have to go and speak to Remus before we plan on anything else.”
Rougestone stepped out of the hut and Remus was already there waiting.
“Sorry, I wasn’t eavesdropping. It is just that he was a stranger.”
“It is alright, something has come up with this fox and we might have to make our stay short. Will you all be okay with the repairs?”
“We should be fine, Rougestone.”
“Great, and if Traverse comes here at any point in time, tell him that we have relocated to Flame City.”
“I will pass the message on, and Rougestone…”
“Yeah?”
“You need to take care of yourself and especially your wife.”
Rougestone gave him a strange look because of the way Remus through Sapphire in there like he did but then nodded.
“I will.” he said to Remus “We will come back when this is over and we might just take you up on that offer about a vacation.”
“You guys are always welcome here.” Remus said to Rougestone and Sapphire as she walked out of the hut with Blaze.
“Are you ready, Sapphire?”
“Yes, I am.”
Rougestone walked over to Blaze as Sapphire took off.
“Hey! Wait a minute! What are you doing?!” asked Blaze nervously
“How do you think we are getting there?” asked Rougestone as he picked up Blaze and joined Sapphire
“But I hate flying!!” Remus heard Blaze cry out as they flew away.

Wait so Shapphire and Rougestone are married, or are they still dating?

“Are you going to give directions, or are you going to keep your eyes closed the entire time?”
Blaze had his eyes close tight along with his front paws covering them. Blaze moved one of his paws off of his eyes and slowly opened it. He then just pointed towards the city with his free paw and returned it to his eye. Rougestone flew closer to Sapphire.
“Hey, what you said back there at the bonfire last night.”
“Yeah?”
“You were supposed to wait for me on that one.”
“For what?”
“For me to ask you to marry me.”
“Ok, I accept that offer. Oh and if you don’t mind me asking, what were you going to talk to Remus about earlier before we met Blaze?”
“It was going to be a surprise, but that is what I wanted to talk to him about.” he answered “Now it is the first thing that I want to do when we get to Flame City.”
“I think we are here, Blaze.” Sapphire said to the fox.
The three of them where now flying over ground that had been scared by volcanoes and a civilization that has made its home here.
“There are other species of animals that live here; there aren’t just foxes.”
“Who is the leader?” asked Rougestone
“He is a fox like me, but he is all black. He is a bit larger than me and his name is Darkmatter.”
“That is a different name for a fox.”
“That’s his name.”
“I want to meet him when we get there.”
“I am sure that he will want to do the same.” replied Blaze

The three of them landed outside of the city and in front of a large gate. Rougestone let go of Blaze and he struggled to regain his footing but eventually pulled himself together.
“I see that you have brought our new friends.” said Darkmatter as he came out of the city gates with a small group of the inhabitants following him.
“Yes, I am Rougestone and this is Sapphire.”
“Yes, I have heard all about you two, which is why I sent Blaze to find you. Please come in and we will talk.”
The group walked through the gates and into a plaza. They crossed though some of the stands and into a building that had no labeling of what it was used for.
Rougestone caught up with Darkmatter and spoke to him about him and Sapphire. Darkmatter agreed to do it before they were to discuss why they were brought here. Since they arrived early in the morning, they were wed that evening.
“I appreciate you doing this.” Rougestone said to Darkmatter
“It is all okay. We can hold off talking for a little while more.” replied Darkmatter
“You are just like Rouge.” Sapphire said to him as she walked over to them.
“And how is that?” asked Darkmatter
“You both can’t relax for one second. You always have to bring up something that is going on.”
The rest of the evening and night went on without any problems and the next day they were all together talking about why they were there.

Rougestone and Sapphire were in a room with some of the other higher figures of the city. Darkmatter was present along with a dark brown badger, a komodo dragon, a mastigodrya (a type of snake), and a bison with a lemur sitting on its back. They were all situated in a circle in the center of a candle lit room. Darkmatter started the conversation,
“So, the reason that we have summoned you here is because we need both of your fighting skills.”
“Yessss, we need your help.” added the mastigodrya
“I get that part, but what are you guys planning on fighting?” asked Rougestone
“There have been rumors and threats going around the city about a declaration of war from the dark army.” answered the bison.
