"Gah! Geez!" Lex said, quickly kicking his foot back from the scientist before it was frozen. "I mean... I know you couldn't have given me some warning, but geez that's cold! Okay... we've probably got a minute or two before the guards come running... what's the plan?"

"Get you out of here" Kihei said as he looked at what was holding Lex's hands together

"Yeah... I don't think I'm gonna fit through the vents with this thing on, and I sure as hell can't think of another way out of here." Lex continued, as he looked upward at the vent.

Bimcal flapped his wings as he landed next to Lex, "I can melt those with my acidsss."

What seemed like a mass of smoke dropped down from the vents, before coalescing into the form of an anthropomorphic doberman.

"Wait, Xander? You brought them here?" Lex said, his canine muzzle forming an excited smile.

"Of course, I wouldn't have been able to help without 'em!" Xander replied, tail wagging excitedly. "Now, hold out your hands, he can prolly take care of those." he said, gesturing to Bimcal.

Bimcal raised up and let his fangs drip acidic poison on the cuffs.

"That might hurt a little Lex, but you'll be free in a few moments" Kihei said

"Aand... there!" Lex said, as he pulled his hands free, shattering the half-melted device before the acid reached his flesh. "Now for the second problem... how am I gonna get back up there?" he said, looking upward at the vent.

"I can fly you up" Kihei said as he flew up and grabbed Lex by the shoulders and started lifting him up to the vent

Bimcal settled back, "We better find out how ssssoon, we don't have much more time."

"I don't think... I can quite... fit!" Lex said, his broad shoulders just barely touching the edges of the vents. He grabbed the edges of the vents with his bulky hands as his verdant irises started to glow an almost neon green. The edges of the vents began to expand at his touch, even further down the tunnel. "Er, nevermind..."

Bimcal flew back up after them.

Xander's body began to fade into smoke, as he launched himself up towards the vents again. "Is it just me, or is it a lot roomier in here?" he asked, reforming his body into its bipedal form. "I mean, I can actually move. In any case, we don't have Al here to disable the alarms, so they should fire up in a minute."

"Then lets get going!" Kihei said as he closed the grate and started to run down the vent, he wasn't sure how he was able to run when he was just crawling through the very same vent

Bimcal slithered through as fast as possible.

The two brothers crawled through the ducts behind the others, trying to move as quickly as possible. "Jeez, how far is the exit?" Lex questioned, more than a hint of urgency in his voice.

"I hope its close" Kihei said

Varedis ducked and sprinted through the vent, then, through a side opening, he saw armed guards running towards the room where Lex had beem held, "Guards, they'll be coming back soon, be careful," he said to the others.

"I'm not sure if they can electronically detect us in the vents at all, since we're effectively covered in metal shielding." Lex said, trying to crawl as quietly as he could.

"Al said that he couldn't find any trackers embedded in us two. Er, me and him." Xander replied, worry in his voice. "We weren't in maximum security, though..."

"What're you suggesting? Do you want me to shock myself on that tiny electric fence they have out back?" Lex said, a bit of irritation in his voice.

"Eh... that'd be a good way to fry a tracker out... remember, we'll feel it, too."

"We'll take care of it later guys" Kihei said as he continued to run in the vent, soon finding the exit

"Wait, that's the exit! Sweet!" Xander said, warping his form into its smoke form, rushing past the others.

"So, you think I should rip open the ventilation system from the inside out? You know, as a parting gift?" Lex said, rubbing his hands together as his eyes lit up, glowing a brilliant green.

"Sounds thrilling," said Varedis, "To make up for the fact that we had no Welcome Party"

"Let'sss, jussst get out of here already." Bimcal hissed, anxious to get out.

Kihei exited the vent and quickly froze any cameras that could possibly see them when they run away "Coast is clear guys" He said into the vent

Lex turned back to the vents, slamming both of his hands on either side of them. A cacophonous racket began to ring through the entire building, as all of the vent covers to all of the various rooms inside blew right open, and the vents expanded. "There, a little parting gift to everyone still locked inside." he said, giving a cheeky smile as he turned back to the others. "Okay, now let's get the hell out of here!"

Bimcal flapped his wings, and darted off to where the main group was.

Varedis dove into the shadows and went into stealth, sprinting with knees bent and remaining hidden.

Kihei nodded and flew after Bimcal

The brothers followed closely behind their compatriots, trying to stick to the shadows, as well.

"I can't help but think we forgot something..." Xander said, scratching his chin.

Varedis glided past Xaner stealthily, "was it that Al guy you were mentioning?"

"No, he's with the oth-" Xander said, his face lighting up with a realization "-that's right! They wanted us to call when we got out." he said, pulling out the cell phone. "...looks like we've got no bars here, though."

"Oh, okay, maybe if you go up that hill?"

"Lets go then guys, we just need to go back to the others" Kihei said

"Alright, they were north, near a metal tower, so let's head towardss that,"

Shadow growled in annoyance, "how long are those morons going to take?!" He then sat began crushing rocks with his paws.

Varedis pounded along the ground towards the metal tower in the distance where he'd last seen the group.

As the group rushed to meet with the others, Xander kept holding the phone up and waving it around, hoping to try to get a signal. All of a sudden, though he felt a rough hand grab his own free hand, as he looked up from it, seeing Lex's piercing green eyes staring back. "Listen, if we can catch up with these others I've heard about, we shouldn't even need to call them." he said as he tugged on Xander's hand, the black and brown fur making it hard to distinguish where one's hand started and the other's began. On close examination, though, the two's hands were stuck together.

"R-right, let's get to the others, then." he said, as he put away the phone, trying to not be dragged along.

Varedis had been watching Xander and noticed the "sticking together of hands" that he'd seen between Xander and Alex, What was going on? he thought to himself

"Well, come on guys, lets get back, then we'll figure out what to do next" Kihei said

Varedis nodded, "Sounds sound," he said and began walking off again.
