My parents said i can only get one console for christmas and i game which should i get a wii u or a ps4 plz help???

As someone who owns a Wii U, I recommend it. I am personally more hyped for the upcoming wave of Wii U games than I am for the PS4. As of now, the PS4 only has two games I'm seriously interested in, one of which isn't even close to being a launch title.

PS4 will have a ton of great exclusives in time, because Sony has a lot of great franchises. But there are just so many great looking titles coming out on the Wii U, starting from around now (I'm getting Rayman Legends on Wii U on Thursday, for example).

i advice you to get the ps4 its nextgen and have much better hardware... the wii-u is power wise not much more powerful than the weak xbox360 from 2005... so you dont want to get stuck on last gen hw in 2013... you want a console that have the powers to run new and better coming games from today and 10 years ahead.

take a look at skylanders swap force it looks fantastic and better than the wii/wii-u/ps3/x360 versions... this is just the beginnings...

also another thing to think about... if you buy digital on the wii-u and it break you lose it, since the digital purchases is linked to the wii-u hw and not your nintendo id.... the ps4 digital purchases is linked to your psn id and not hw, so it will be with you forever.

so if smart and think of future, go for the ps4.... you will not regret that choice.

Get the Wii U

I am getting a WII U for Christmas however the PS4 is far superior.

Well it depends on what exclusives YOU want. If you prefer nintendo and such exclusive get a Wii U, if you prefer exclusives to the Playstation 4 then get a Playstation 4. Its all a matter of your opinion, both are very great consoles that in my opinion are equal in superiority.

if u like shooters go for ps4, if u like more of a variety go for wii u!

Look at the games coming out for the PS4's launch and the games currently out for the Wii U. Decide which you like best/which you would want to play, get the system that has those games on. Simple.

Yes, the PS4 - the system that of the 33 titles in the launch window, 3 are shooters and only 1 of which is exclusive. Yep. Looks like the PS4 is just for shooters folks.

Well theyre very similar. They both mainly have shooters. Thats why i like nintendo better.

Wii U. PS4 isn't really all that better in terms of graphics compared to the Wii U. And the power it has is actually quite good, unlike what kappa was saying. Other than that, it really depends on what games you prefer. If you prefer Sony games, go for PS4(rhyme). If you want Nintendo games, go for Wii U. Although I recommend Wii U. At least you don't have to buy another whole entire system to play remote play in Swap-Force.

I have been thinking about the ps4 because i havent owned a sony console since the ps2 and that console is amazing so im kinda leaning towards the ps4. I want a console that has a good varity of fun games and has cool online stuff.

Though that may be true for the Xbox 360's library, it's definitely not the same case for the Sony exclusive games.

Of the 33 launch window video games for the PS4, 3 of them are shooters. 1 of those is a platform exclusive. That really sounds like the PS4 mainly has shooters, doesn't it?

You do realise that this is going to change when the incoming wave of Wii U games comes out?

PS3 had barely any games at first, but look at it now.

Why not just get the Wii U this year and enjoy the Nintendo exclusives (Mario,Zelda,Sonic) and get the PS4 or XBOX ONE next Christmas when the systems start to come into their own.

So WHAT if the Wii U is doing bad right now. Look at the PS3! It didn't have that many games within launch, and look at the variety of games now. And unless someone wants a fancy system with a fancy disc reader with more gigabytes, go for Wii U , unless you want Sony exclusive games, then go for the PS4.

the biggest game developers have made it pretty clear they will not support the wii u... even shops are starting to drop it....

i must be honest here i cant advice anyone to get a wii u as of today... that is like advising people to waste their money. when ps4 and xbone arrive in november, it will be pretty much game over for the wii u. the fact is games is getting bigger more advance and require the hardware to run properly. the wii u just dont have it....

the old wii had a gimmick like wiimote and a lot of casuals bought it, wii u have none...

handhelds are a complete different marked and ps2 had support of all third part developers, so cant be compared...

I'm pretty sure the gamepad counts as a gimmick, though it's not quite as 'revolutionary' as motion controls I suppose.

it barley can be called a gimmick, it is a handheld that try to be a controller. there is nothing revolution about it and nobody wanted it.... nintendo thought it would be the second coming, they did think wrong. they sat on their butt to long while the gaming world moved on.

It's probably more likely because the Wii was the cheapest by a huge margin. It was bought by families, or people who didn't play video games. The PS3 and 360 were bought by gamers. The issue with the Wii U, is that is isn't casual enough to appeal to the family market and isn't hard core enough to appeal to gamers.

Well define hardcore then, because ZombiU is one of the most difficult games I've ever played.
Seriously though, there are a lot of upcoming games that balance fun and challenge.

The Wii U will sell, the mix of games coming out is varied, and caters to all sorts. Plus, it's a bargain as a next gen console.

Lots of consoles had slow starts. So did the 3DS. In fact, Satoru Iwata made a statement saying that the Wii U's current market performance and lack of games is largely due to Nintendo pushing the 3DS, and getting it out of it's hard place. They overdid it, so the Wii U suffered for a while. But it's turning around. Pikimin 3 has already pushed Wii U sales in Japan. And I shouldn't need to list the upcoming exclusives for the Wii U.

ZombiU is one game though. I don't deny, it looks good - but it's the only game I would want to play on the system and that isn't worth spending hundreds on it. Granted, there will be more games for it in the future (and I didn't mention anything about the future) but at the moment the clear, simple and obvious answer to why the Wii U isn't selling well is: not enough games.

I'm aware, but they are coming in at a steady rate from now until Christmas, and I felt this was relevant to the OP.

I still think the Wii had the best exclusives of the 7th generation, IMO. Though, before it's even been released I will agree that the PS4 appears to have a ****-load more and better exclusives than the Wii U and obviously the Xbox One.

I think we should have a completely different thread for console wars <.< This topic has gone pretty far off track. When it comes to picking which system you want just go by which exclusives look more fun. Cause the games are the main reason for getting a console. If you are chosing between the wii u and ps4 just ask yourself which gaming franchises you prefer. Just ignore the idiot that say "this one sucks, the one i'm getting can do this!" "you aren't a real gamer" etc. For me exclusives make or break a system for me and once a console releases a good enough exclusive then i get it. I'm not "hating" on the PS but it doesn't have any exclusives that really interests me so based on the 2 choices i'd go Wii U. I may be getting all 3 of this gen's consoles. I will be going with the Xone 1st because i loved Dead Rising and it comes out day one with the system. After that i will be getting a Wii U once either Mario Kart or Smash Bros is released. I don't know if or when i will get around to the Ps4 <.< all depends on if i catch something that looks interesting on it.
