Long time lurker here, just made an account to post this, as I did not see any other threads here on the subject...

On Reddit today is a new thread about someone getting ahold of an "Employee Exclusive" variant lightcore of Prism Break. The post includes a very good photo, but I'm no expert on whether such might be photoshopped. But to my untrained eyes, at least, the photo looks legit.

This is one of the nicest variants I've seen so far. Wonder exactly how many of them are out?

That is one heck of a nice Christmas bonus to the employees - and it doesn't cost them a fortune as a company. You are essentially giving them "value" instead of money, although a lot of them probably won't sell it. But if they do, that thing would be worth a fortune - unique packaging (snow at the top is nice), the coloring and flocking is intelligent rather than just being dipped whole, the base isn't completely covered, it is far more rare than even chase or toy show variants, etc.

If the toy show variants sell for several hundred dollars, how much is this one going to go for? Thousands?

I think this is very unfair. This makes it even harder for me to have the whole collection. It does nothing but say here we know you don't collect them but its a gift from us to you so go scalp it on ebay. Making me reconsider buying anymore skylanders.

its got 3 bids so even if I started the bidding at a dollar it would eventually sell for a lot.

Variants are cool, but I hate that the only way I will ever get one of these is making it myself!

The sense of entitlement in your post is bewildering. They said Merry Christmas to their employees in a fun and cool way, and not every employee cares that much about Skylanders. That doesn't take anything away from you, nor does your purchasing figures mean they owe you an opportunity to buy this. Get over yourself.

I would bet that the new Flocked Prism Break and the Employee version show up the same in the Game. This would mean that your collection would be complete if you owned either one.

You don't have freedom of speech on SOMEBODY ELSE'S WEBSITE. Dark pays for the domain for a reason. Trash isn't a verb. By the way freedom of speech has nothing to do with people agreeing with you.

defpally, mxzx800ho. Both of you settle down. I for one am with defpally. It's a perk of working there. Most of them wont sell it, but if they do then that's up to them. Just because you're part of the public that collects skylanders doesn't mean you're entitled and deserve every variant. you don't need this one. Would I like to have him? yes, but i'll live without him. They finally have a variant I'd be interested in but oh well, it happens. Trust me, I'm a completionist. I'm not happy till my collection is complete. For example, I collect halo mega bloks. And I will forever be missing one set and one figure. The toyfair warthog and the ac hunter. Why? because the toyfair set goes for $200 while if it was sold it'd be worth $20 and the ac hunter?.....only 2 in known existence. I wont have either but i consider my collection complete and i accept this

$321 might be a bargain since the white LC Prism Break just sold for $375.

Ya know what I have to say about all this variant nonsense?: Collect-Em-All just got tougher.

The Flocked Prism Break will go down in price. I think these ones will always sell very high. I will never be selling mine, that's for sure. I would be so bold as to say I wouldn't accept ANY amount. Call me crazy all you want, but I mean it. I won't be selling my Employee Prism Break.

Even if I wasn't getting one of these for free, I still wouldn't pay that much for it... ever... no matter if it meant missing one variant out of the ones released. I guess my neighbor is now right. People do have more money than sense. I was guilty of paying 1250 for 4 variants (break it down however you want), but that was the past. I will never pay over 120 for any variant ever again... unless it's like an out of country variant like Pearl Hex was, and even then, she doesn't go for near what she used to.

Ok I understand that you made a misunderstanding. That's fine.

But for starters, not everyone on this forum are in the US, so there is that. Secondly Freedom of Speech is provided by the First Amendment and provides that the government cannot silence the public, private individuals do not have to provide you an outlet for your speech. Thirdly, no one is trying to silence you, they are just criticizing your opinion. Fourthly, the right to free speech entitles you to be able to speak your mind (within limits, for example you cannot yell fire in a crowded theater), but it does not restrict other people from using their Freedom of Speech to call you an idiot for what you said. And lastly, this is an Internet forum, and the founding fathers roll over in their grave every time some doofus uses the Constitution to defend himself acting like a baby on a forum.

And as far as my "useful" posting, maybe something like my detailed post on how Skylander type technology works? Or how I was the first to report on here the contents of the single Wave 3 boxes (which I found elsewhere)? Or how I engaged the Ebay scammer ace4557 that lied about seeing Thumpback and scammed a Gnarly from another member, something we know now to be absolutely false? I've been a member for not very long here, but I read for a long time before posting - so I could get a feel for what went on, rather than jumping in with no idea. I'm sorry, but I call em like I see 'em, and regardless if this is TFB, Activision, or TRU that contracted to have these special figure made, it takes nothing away from you - so no, I do not see the difference. You are the one that has placed the requirement upon yourself that you be able obtain all variants that exist, and think TFB cannot make a single figure that you are unable to obtain, even if it is for Christmas and even though many of the recipients will just flip it on Ebay.

I'm a perfectionist, too. I want a complete collection, too. And I would love to have one of these for my collection, too. But, I am not going to demand they make it available to me and whine because it isn't. You seem to think that you are owed releases from TFB because you want them and have bought other figures, and because your personal feelings make you feel "incomplete" without it. If you ever want to come to my TRU and talk Skylanders, I'm sure czs716 would be glad to spectate.

And as for everyone complaining that TFB employees are getting unfair treatment by getting a non-ingame character variant of a highly produced, shelf-warming character is stupid. Is it cool? Yes it is. Is anyone going to miss anything in the game by not having it? No they won't. You're all acting like they made the Chinese Dragon Skylander an employee exclusive to be given away.

TFB made the game what it is. Isn't it only fitting they get to take home their own special peice of the game's history - a momento to hold on their shelf that the average joe cannot obtain?
