Amazon are the only people I can find that are taking preorders for this.

It costs £40.25 by itself. Consider that Cynder and Jet Vac retail for £9 by themselves. Then the rest of it comes to a value of £22.25. Not bad for an exclusive Royal Double Trouble and Platinum Treasure Chest, along with a bluetooth portal that would probably work on a PS3/PC.

Personally I'm going to get it on release and sell Cynder and Jet Vac on ebay for £5 each.

Hrm, about $64 US. Even if I sold off Jet Vac and Cynder for $9 a pop, that's still over $40 for RDT. Going to keep an eye on the secondary market for this one.

I'd really like to get it, but I don't have any iOS products, and due to my stance on Apple products in general (Android ftw!) i don't intend to buy one in the future either.

However, I could at least sell off Jet Vac and Cynder. I wouldn't sell them for $9 though. Maybe like $11 or so each. In the least, if I don't want to do that, I could make some customs for myself.

I found the amazon pack yesterday but didnt preorder, dont really have £40 atm. Figured I'm going to trade in Cynder and JetVac to get some money back.

Will keep an eye on that asda page.

Be aware if you don't have a Gen4+ iThing, Lost Islands wouldn't work. I'm awaiting a reponse from Activision Assist on Battlegrounds compatibility, but I think it's a fair chance that it wouldn't work on older iThings either.

That link is now live. Just ordered me one. Be aware that Asda take the money as soon as you order and not when the item is dispatched. They will refund you the difference if it drops in price though.

Right, UK peeps. My ipod touch is a few years old now. The softwear is incompatable with most apps. I want to upgrade. With the new Starter in mind. Do i go for an iPod Touch 4 or the iPad Mini? Do all 3 games work on Touch or do they need a Pad?

They should work with both but Id go with the mini for the bigger screen easier to control

Both the pack shot on Amazon and on GAME both say that it is a "Special Edition" Royal Double Trouble and not "Exclusive". But then again its an old stock picture as it shows a normal double trouble and treasure chest.

I want to order the pack with Royal Double Trouble. I've emailed ASDA for details but no reply yet.

Royal Double Trouble and the Platnium Treasure chest are (currently) exclusive to the pack. **RDT is in his series1 pose, but is a Series2. **Most online stores are using this older mock up pack shots on their sites->**.

You might never get a reply from Asda before the game releases and the price rises. I rang and asked if they were getting in Clear Red Drill Sarg and it took six weeks to get an answer. It turns out they do stock Red [standard] Drill Sarg just not what I was asking for :/. I have very little faith in large stores in relation to Skylanders now.

Except the conversion rate for Skylanders isn't exactly the same. You'll probably get it for $40.

Well, we have seen Royal Double Trouble's figure before in the shelves at TFB. He was just in the S1 pose, which is strange considering he'd be the only variant to be still in his S1 pose - unless he doesn't have a wow-pow and therefore isn't technically a S2 character.

It confirms that there is a set of Battlegrounds that comes with a normal Double Trouble and orange base. Technically it is a variant, assuming that it gets its wow pow, as it would be a series two character in its series one pose. Less impressive than Royal DT though.

No retailer in the UK is claiming to have this exclusive RDT set though.

Smyths had RDT confirmed in the pre-sale PDF that they sent me, but it didn't have any indication in the file that it was exclusive to Smyths just marked as "Special Edition" (see my previous post in this thread) on the box art mock up.

We'll soon see what will happen, the game is out on Friday (or there abouts). It's not like Activision will tell us anything in advance :/

Should my Asda pack not have RDT, I WILL be returning it. Bad enough I can download but can't play the game on my (gen 3) iPod Touch, but even more so to not have the MAIN reason for buying the pack. It's torture enough babysitting my Husband's iPad Lost Islands from time to time, I'm not going to have another back seat for another iOS Skylander game.

Not heard anything back from ASDA (no surprise). I will also be returning it, if it has standard Double Trouble.

Called TRU in Manchester and they have no idea when they will be getting wave 2.

How hard can it be for a supplier to give a retailer a delivery date, especially for a product as popular as Skylanders?

From what I can gather the chain of information is Activision -> Supplier -> Customer. If Activision don't give out the information the supplier and stores can't answer any questions (in my experience most stores have always been clueless on figure releases anyway).

Obviously Activision care more about the quick buck FPS casual gamer market (I'm looking at you Call of Duty) that the millions that will be made from the drip feed of Skylanders figures and merchanising. Hopefully the Disney Skylander clone thing might make Acti wake up and stop treating their fans to constant silence to upcoming releases.

Same here. The advantage being that you can actually take it into a store and get a refund. No messing around with sending it back.

Skylanders Battlegrounds is now out on the UK app store for a not too wallet smashing £4.99.

Makes the figures and portal come to £30 (ASDA) or £35 (Amazon and GAME). If I sell Jetvac and Cynder for £10 for both then RDT, Platinum chest and the Portal would have cost me £20. Sounds like a sweet deal to me, assuming of course we get RDT here in the UK.

Amazon are using the old image, maybe Asda will have this by they still haven't added a photo and (last time I checked earlier today) said it is coming in "2 days" which is Saturday(desite that games are released on a Friday).

Our choices on possible RDT in stores are GAME, Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, TRU and Smyths. (Fun) Bets taken on who will have RDT. My guess is LAME as they also had the GITD Cynder.

My order from Asda has now dispatched. If it doesn't have RDT I'm going to return it instore and wait to see if anyone gets RDT. If we don't see it over here I'll just download the game normally and be without the portal.

^I also got the dispatch notice, will be an interesting time waiting for this

Marti has an order from GAME inbound.

If none of them contain RDT then we'll all be on a wild goose hunt.

*looks* in that case I will be sadly cancelling my preorder with GAME. I cant justify this purchase. Even with the platinum treasure chest thats not worth £40. I've not got the itunes credit for battlegrounds atm, I'll wait to see what happens with other retailers regarding this pack. Heck it might even go on xmas sales because I really dont see it being hugely successful.

If it helps I've played the game and so far it seems like it simply isn't worth $50 considering you'll get duplicate figures, and even RDT is just a recolor(with possibly slightly improved stats?), cause the game itself is good- just nothing special. The only reason the pack looks worthwhile to me is for the Portal which is gonna be immensely helpful for registry. I'll jump off this topic since I'm not actually a UKer but if you don't feel like you can justify buying the pack, it likely won't pay off to.

I personally like collecting the Alt colours of the Skylanders, I would be happy to pay £35 for the iOS starter, the Portal can be used by me and my husband, the extra Jet-Vac and one Cynder from this (I got a 3DS starter and a Wii U starter coming) will be traded in to CeX, with the other Cynder (and possibly maybe also Jet-Vac) will be handed to my niece/nephew (she likes Cynder).

Anyway my Asda iOS Starter came today (at 8.30am on a Saturday - really Posty :/), anyway the Asda pack has NO Royal Double Trouble.

And to make this pack even more confusing, the front of the box has simple images for iPod [classic], iPhone and iPad, jet the back states (in small text in the bottom right):
Compatibility: Works on iPhone (4 and higher), iPod Touch (4th generation and higher) and iPad (all versions). Note: iOS version 5.1 or higher required across all devices.

I foresee lots of the packs mistakenly opened for sale on eBay on Chistmas afternoon

I could but then I can't return the opened pack for a refund. I'll try scanning the chest through the packaging into 3DS Giants and see if that works

Edit: I didn't expect that to work though the extra distance, but it did. The Platinum Treasure Chest scans as "Series 1 Treasure Chest" and non-Royal scans as "Series 2 Double Trouble"

Actually meant the other way around: whether the Pirate Seas chest behaves the same way in Battlegrounds. If you're returning it though forget I asked, sorry about that. >.<

platinum treasure chest shows up exactly the same as the original treasure chest in both ssa and giants. it does not say platinum treasure chest. looks like they just repainted it

Yeah I figured that much, but the question is does the original Treasure Chest work the same in S:B or not? If so, it's a simple repaint and for people that want to get just the app that'll save them some cash (just buy an adventure pack and a portal from eBay and you're all set). If not, it means the Plat Chest is a unique item and not just a repaint, though sadly one that only behaves differently in S:B.
