And with that note, I am, yet again, glad I do not collect variants...

variants are there for 2 reasons:

#2 So Activision can sell something at profit without making a new mold (The most expensive part of toy making)

#3 So scalpers (and Toywiz) can profit from hardcore collectors

I would much rather see repainted variants, then "All silver, all gold, clear, etc".

I'm curious how much this will go for though. I don get to scalp **** from my retail job, I'm sorta jealous.

come on...these are fakes. Someone was trying to pass of a special green bash the other day. Spray a coat of glow in the dark paint on one...reseal it...sell it...make a quick buck on some dumb unsuspecting fool. I don't buy it. I'm so glad I didn't get suckered into the rares market. Waste of money.

Those look fake to me :/ I dunno if I wanna believe these are real. If they are though, they are UGLY.
I like the crystal clear looking ones (Cynder especially) but I've refused to pay so much for varients. I'm a collector but not on that grand of scale.

How would they be fake though? They're in the packet for one and theres two of them in different states

I realize that they may not be fakes. But I wish they were. Friggin Activision is milking this game for all it is worth and now I am wondering what they gain by doing this? Trying to inject some money into the economy? Ugh...I'm just burned out on the "RARES" The sports card industry did that in the 90's with rares and signed and variant cards. It soon became the "cool" thing to do. Now those rares are a dime a dozen and if they keep this up...people will just quit even collecting altogether.

But surely people understand that we see our figures most of the time in light?

The warnado looks like playdoh. And why glow in the dark if you wanted it to look cool go full color change not just lump in some glow in the dark.

I hope the last one is Flameslinger.

I wish Activision wasn't so cheap with these... at least take the time to program in the color variant to the game so that when you play you can actually see them glowing or something. I realize this might not work so well with the Crystal characters, but for the others it would be interesting to see them re-skinned at the very least.

All I can say is that I am glad that I have absolutely no interest in the variants (aside from legendaries, and even those are just an 'if I happen to find them')

Really though, they should have just quit after the gold/silvers. All they became where like blood diamonds. Its ridiculous to make special variations of things (EXPECIALLY the newer ones) without getting more of the new figures out on the market. And really, unless an employee doesn't know what they are, you'll never see them (reason being that they know how much these things are resold for). I've got TWO of a LE Ben 10 figure (there's only 10,000 of them, and I have a small tub filled with chase Disney CARS, so its not like its impossible to find rare things in all lines...

It'd still be nice to own a few variants though.

OMG finally an actually interesting variant! Wow this is awesome and far better than the metallic, flocked, blue jello and gold/silver variants!

Shame TfB never seems to make variants that actually make sense (bar flocked stump smash because the flocked could be like moss on a tree)

Though, Pearl Hex and the crystals are fabulous anyways.

Yep, when the crystals came out I was thinking the only one I'd be interested is an all-glow variant. The single colors, especially gold & silver look terrible to me. But glowing is cool. Kids love the glow parts of undead and stealth elf figs.

If two sellers have glow in the dark Skylanders, that means they shouldn't be fake. It's not like two people had the same idea.

In anycase, this confirms wave 5 has 2 different variants? Clears and glow in the dark?

I noticed the " expensive " variants look like skylanders not 100% complete. Gold silver etc are like un painted and this is like base 1 of making a skylander

Not keen on the colour but I'm sure it would look better in the dark.

After looking over all the variants and taking 3 packs into account, my son and I believe the third glow in the dark variant will come from the Magic element. Our best guess is Voodood or Double Trouble. The magic element seems to have been shunned, aside from varying Spyros. Lets see if our theory pans out?

These at least have some sort of perk aside from their color. If I saw one on the shelves, obviously I'd buy it, but otherwise, same protocol as usual for variants. No toy is worth that much money... except for as a seller. Heh.

We dont think its wrecking ball cause it is in the same 3 pack as the crystal stealth elf would potentially be. I personally dont think wrecking ball would be that interesting...

Ironically, they're more interesting than most of what they've released. #oops
