why is spyro purple. i think when the first game came out they were trying to be funny, but i don't know so can u tell me

He was going to be green but then they changed it to purple.

He was originally going to be green, but due to problems with him blending in too much with the background scenery, they changed it to purple.

Well, green is common - all at the beginning of the dragon was associated with the greenery, and they wanted to be original smilie

It was supposed to Green, but since he would bleand in with the grass and trees, they changed it to Purple. Why purple? I have no idea.

He's purple because he's purple.

This is a silly question.

It's like if someone asked "Why is Sonic blue?" or "Why is Toothless black?"

No one knows unless the creators told you the reason themselves.

Purple contrasts(?) with green. The two colors stand apart, rather than blending together.

Spyro's probably purple because purple is a color that is really hard to blend in with anything. Especially if you have a green environment. It's the same thing with the colors black and white. If the environment is all white, what color would stand out the most? The color on the other end of the spectrum. But as for why Insomniac chose purple is beyond me. (Although, it was probably just a random decision toward the middle of the games construction.)

Because purple dragons are rare in Spyro's universal

purple doesn't contrast with green, they're both cool colors. hasn't anyone taken an art class? purple, red, and black are all power colors.
purple is a royal color. it was a color commonly used by royalty, so that's how it sort of became a royal color. and with Spyro being a powerful dragon, it would make sense that he would be one of the power colors.

Why is Spyro purple? I never took that into consideration, but purple is an awesome color, and even though I love green, I couldn't imagine Spyro any other color.

When I played Spyro on the PlayStation, I thought that the character looked like a dark blue colour.

I said the same thing. Purple wasn't always a legendary dragon. But for some reason they made a new dragon game & decided to stick Spyro's name on it. >.< I don't know why.

Yes, purple is not only a color thought of as 'powerful' but it's also the royal color. Royals wore purple often. I think it had something to do with purple being a hard color to get in clothing, so only the wealthy could wear it.

I thought that Insomniac Games just chose purple because of all the other colours blending into the scenery. To be honest, I think they wanted to choose it because it is an unexpected colour, instead of being a simple basic colour.

He was originally green, but Spyro 1 had so many grassy levels, he blended in too much, so they chose purple, as not a lot of the scenery is purple.

I think Green, Red, Brown, White and Black are more common for Dragons.

I'm kinda glad they made Spyro a more unusual color than the common green. Otherwise, I'm not sure if his color would be considered "rare" enough to build a story around like TLoS.
