are they going to make a spyro game, and if so will it go back to the old ones or the legend ones

Hmm... I'd like to see either a LoS bringing back the old characters, or new ones based on the old series.

They are making another Spyro game, we just don't know what direction they'll take it. Didn't you ask a question like this before, aran?

out of curiosity where would i find out about the new game?
i went onto igns website and i didnt find anything about one.

You can't, spyro16, Activision is keeping the next game on a low profile, like they're doing with the Crash franchise.

The next game in the Crash franchise has been outright cancelled, so I wouldn't trust those emails, personally. Maybe they're just saying it to cover their backs and not rile up the fans, maybe they're being genuine. Either way, we won't find out until someone does a more 'classified' research job.

Unfortunately, they probably don't know anything about the next Spyro game. Except that a new composer will do the music, and it's in a different direction.

Old Spyro was not dying. If it was, it would have been getting scores more like DOTD received.

you know some people(on line and in general)say that the producers ruined spyro in the TLOS trilogy but to me and my family and some friends think that they actually made him better with the fury attacks and meele combos. they did make spyro look a little weird though.

But it's the fan's opinion anyways. Some Spyro fans wanted the Old Spyro to be put out of his misery since Insomniac stopped making the games, they got their wish. The producers knew that if they continued with the Old Spyro, he wouldn't survive much longer. So, they made the decision to either to end the Spyro franchise with Shadow Legacy, or do a reboot to reintroduce Spyro and his world.

sadly thats true and there are parts from the classics that i like better than TLOS and thats being able to turn faster when your charging and being able to jump when your charging and in DotD they removed the charge attack and replaced it with flying.
thats actually the reason i dont like DotD cause you cant charge

there is a video on youtube i found about the posible new game.(its probably fake though)it said something about the release date being late 2011-early 2012. it also said it is based on the first 3 classics. ile just let you look and see what you think

During the post trilogy (ETD - SL) some of the original fans saw Spyro "dying" because of the low quality of the games that was coming out. Because of this low quality, some of the fans where loosing interest in Spyro, and as a result referred to it as Spyro is dying.

Personally, the Post trilogy compared to TLOS is much better, now the Post Trilogy is nowhere near as good as the Original Trilogy but it showed potential . IMO Spyro is dead, when he becomes something that he is not. I don't care if his still a dragon, still saving the world, and blah, blah, blah. It won't matter if his not the fiery upstart, fire breathing purple charging into baddies dragon, that jumps and glides to each new platform. That's what made him popular.

I still don't get why they need to throw that away, just to keep him "alive" .

If people want a combination of the two universes that Sierra / Actvision made then the first universe (Original and Post trilogy) needs to be the majority of it. It has to be a platformer with some senseless beat'em-up action as a optional side quest or litter the game with varying mini bosses at each checkpoint or start of the level.

I'm not saying TLOS is trash from the get - go (It needs work that's for sure), but its just not what Spyro was about (Gameplay wise).

I agree with everything you said there, Zackeio. I was one of the few fans that was still enjoying the newer classic based Spyro games immensely, even though they didn't have the same magic that the original trilogy had.

And I also agree TLOS needed work. If I'm honest, I still don't think he needed the personality change - He could still be serious with his original attitude, and I do think that would have changed the storyline in a positive way. Gameplay was what made Spyro though, IMHO.

i agree with both of you yes LOS needs a little more work and yes spyro should have the same personality in the Std series

If you want a good example of him being serious while still having his original personality. I think YOTD even ETD suits that category very well. You can definitely see some maturity in him if you compare STD to YOTD. During STD he was more. . . eager to kick Gnorc butt, in YOTD he's still eager to get the eggs back but not as. . . immature. Fiery yes, but not immature if you will.

Meh, I haven't played both in a while I could be wrong

Anyway, just to get back on topic:

All we know of a new game is that Activision is taking Spyro in a NEW DIRECTION . What that is, no one here, as of yet, knows. We all hope its not another reboot . Heh, I think that's the one of the very few things that we can all agree on, on this board (Hooray!).

exactly we know theres going to be another game just not about malfor returning like a whole new boss or something but yeah i see what your pointing out on the 1st paragraph

It's possibly fake, Spyro16. They don't have proof that the next game will be based off the first three.
