Do you think The Legend of Spyro trilogy is better than the old Spyro games?
I'm not saying it is. Just want to know what you think.

I wouldn't say it's better than the old games. I say it's equal. In my opinion, both spyro series are equal in their own way. The LoS having a good storyline, interesting characters, and different style of gameplay while the Old Spyro has good humor, challenging sidequests, and classic material.

I like them both.

I don't think you can really compare the two, since they have two very different concepts.

But by my personal opinion, I think the old games are better. A lot more original, and wasn't painfully predictable.

I completely agree with Aura. They're completely different kinds of games. It depends on your own likings. I personally do like TLoS better, though.

With some refinement, the story could be much better. Gameplay wise, not so much.

Comparing the TLOS games with the Original games is like comparing a Big Mac with a Whopper. . .

They may look the same, but their taste, quality, and lasting appeal is way different. All depends on what you like (prefer whopper over Big Mac any day), if you like story over gameplay then I guess TLOS would be for you, if not then the originals is for you.

As for the question, is TLOS better than the originals. . . yeah - no!

everyone likes something different. i won't say one is better, but the one i prefer is LOS. i'm not saying it's better though.

I prefers the original Insomniac games.

Both series were great, but I prefer the LoS more. The originals were a bit too cartoony and had way too many different species, instead of sticking to something simple like dragons, moles and cheetahs, with a couple of others thrown in occasionaly.

The first two games in LoS were great. DotD was... the most epic fail ever.

I'm with the folks who are saying you can't really compare the two sets of games. They're not even the same genre (platformer vs. fighter, which just isn't a fair comparison).

But, since you are asking for opinions on this one, here is my answer:

Ahahaha! ...No. Not even close. The old games were actually fun to play, whereas the new games are just interactive movies.

Id say id prefer the new games....i mean the old ones were great and all but...dint like the enemies....and tbh they had no real story line. The only old game that really compares for me is AHT! :/ I dint like ETD due to the clumsyness of spyros movement :/

This is hard for me to choose cause AHT is the best original for me(havnt played the inosmatic games), but DOTD and ANB (didnt like TEN that much) are really good. Im not choosin cause i havnt played 1, 2 and 3.

Fine if you like LOS better, but how does there being loads of species detract from a game? Just curious.

Well, sort of...

I liked the Legend of Spyro games. I liked the others too but these games were a lot funner. You could fly, 2 player mode, challenging levels...

I prefered LOS but the best in the trilogy was TEN Krome studios had better gameplay then Etanges Libellules In my opinion but dotd was still fun to play. Insomniac's technology has change alot and i would actully like to see what they would do with spyro if they ever go the series back i love there resistance 1 and 2.

However, the elemetal attacks were at there best in TEN, which is part of the gameplay.

The only one that I did not find useful was commet dash, but others seem to have liked it.

Yeah it was. TEN seemed harder. It took me a long time to beat that game. And to collect all the feathers.

Well obviously you wouldn't just smash the buttons at random. You steer, attack when the enemies are near, follow the proper sequence when you need to and jump when you need to. All of that is just plain obvious so yeah, still very easy.

no old spyro games are better

I've played a wide range of games, and to be honest, TLoS is just plain boring in comparison to the other fighting games I've played.
So, my answer is the original. They're actually fun to play, and you don't need the storyline to get into the game - And let's be honest - Without TLoS storyline, most people I've met wouldn't even bother with it.

And..... You could fly in the old games too, at many points. People seem to be acting as though free flight is the greatest thing ever, and I don't understand what the big deal is when you're frequently restricted anyway in where you can fly.

The old and new are tied.

Old games are way better. I even prefer ETD to TLOS.

I like the Spyro Insomniac series as well as the Legend Of Spyro series. Spyro 4: Enter The Dragonfly was a major disappointment, and to me seems like a very boring game. Spyro 5: A Hero's Tail was a lot of fun to play too. However, it's not one of my favorites (since it seems just a bit too kiddish and at times, repetitive).

But since you're asking which games I prefer more? Well here's my list.

First: Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage/Spyro 2: Gateway To Glimmer
Second: Spyro 3: Year Of The Dragon
Third: Spyro (8): The Legend Of Spyro: Dawn Of The Dragon
Fourth: Spyro (1): The Dragon
Fifth: Spyro (7): The Legend Of Spyro: The Eternal Night
Sixth: Spyro (5): A Hero's Tail
Seventh: Spyro (6): The Legend Of Spyro: A New Beginning
Eighth: Spyro (4): Enter The Dragonfly

I like the old games better.
I just don't like how you have to hit the gems for the breath. it is soooo annoying. I do like the fury in TLoS 1 and 2.

The PS1 games are my favorite, I'm a platforming kind of guy.

I personally think that the Original Spyro has a bit too many charcters. And TLoS series didn't have enough Female characters. 2 isn't what I was expecting.

Well, my favorite game was DOTD, but the old games are really fun, too. I can play YOTD for six hours straight!

ETD is good, if you ignore the annoying glitches. But there are some glitches that I really enjoy. Like the swimming in the air glitch. It makes ETD more fun. xD
